The authors examine the role of organizational factors affecting interdepartmental interactions and their subsequent effects
on product quality. Results from a national study suggest that product quality is affected by interdepartmental conflict and
connectedness. Importantly, the linkage between interdepartmental conflict and product quality appears to be robust across
varying levels of market turbulence and technological turbulence. In contrast, interdepartmental connectedness appears to
be more important for product quality under conditions of high market and technological turbulence. The results also indicate
that interdepartmental interactions are influenced by leadership characteristics (risk aversion of top managers), reward system
orientation, and organization structure (centralization, departmentalization, and hierarchical levels). Managerial implications
and directions for future work are proposed.

A model for forecasting production of wheat considering the effects of irrigation, fertilizer application, high yielding varieties, rainfall, labour and farm machinery is derived. Applicabilitty of this model is tested for Indian conditions and is found satisfactory. Strength and limitations of this model can be applied successfully to other national conditions also. In this paper, three points are argued. The first is that Ronald Coase, best known as the forefather of transaction cost theory, foresaw many of the critical questions that proponents of the resource‐based view are concerned with today. The second is that resource‐based theory plays a potentially much more critical role in economic theory and in explaining the institutional structure of production than even many resource‐based scholars recognize. The last point is that a more complete understanding of the organization of economic activity requires a greater sensitivity to the interdependence of production and exchange relations. The arguments presented in this paper highlight important, but relatively ignored, elements in Coase's work that inform strategy research. More importantly, this paper makes the case for a triangular alignment between the triumvirate of governance structure, transaction, and resource attributes and demonstrates how the identity and strategy of a particular firm influences how its resources interact with the transaction and how the firm chooses to govern it. The general argument is then applied to the context of interfirm collaborative relations, where the key focus is broadened from just cost to also include skills/knowledge and the interdependence between cost and skills with respect to firm boundaries, both in terms of choice and nature. Such a broadening of focus enables us to additionally examine the transacting process as a productive endeavor, which underpins the co‐evolution of the competencies of partner firms. Anxiety and anger, two frequently experienced emotions during service consumption, arise from different appraisals of the eliciting event, i.e., attribution to uncontrollable circumstances and low coping potential for anxiety versus attribution to providers and high coping potential for anger. These appraisal differences were hypothesized to impact the occurrence of supportive provider responses (higher for anxiety than for anger), and the value given to supportive responses by anxious versus angry customers (higher evaluation for anxiety than for anger). It was also hypothesized that, although evaluation of provider response would mediate the relationship between the intensity of both anger and anxiety and satisfaction with the service encounter as a whole, the power of this mediating effect would be stronger for anxiety than for anger. Hypotheses were confirmed in a survey of air travel passengers reporting episodes of anxiety and anger. Implications of these results for challenges and payoffs involved in the development of adaptive response strategies to anxious and angry customers are discussed. 相似文献

By examining only dysfunctional conflict and ignoring functional conflict, empirical research in marketing has presented only
part of the story. This research offers the first systematic look at the antecedents and consequences of both functionaland dysfunctional conflict in intraorganiational relationships. The authors develop and empirically test a causal model for key
organizational antecedents of new product strategy quality and market performance. They find that dysfunctional conflict in
the decision-making process has deleterious consequences for quality of strategy and market performance, whereas functional
conflict improves both quality of strategy and performance. Specifically, organizational design characteristics such as formalization,
interdepartmental interconnectedness, low communication barriers, and team spirit improve new product performance by enhancing
functional conflict, whereas centralization and high communication barriers lower new product performance by increasing dysfunctional
conflict. A post hoc test for common method bias or variance suggests that bias or variance alone cannot explain these findings.
