A gauge repeatability and reproducibility (R&R) method is developed to assess the capability of a measurement system. Although gauge capability studies have received substantial attention, few studies have investigated attribute data despite their wide application in industry. The primary aim of this research is to develop a procedure, based on the generalized linear model, to evaluate the R&R of a measurement system for attribute data. To calculate repeatability of a system, the procedure integrates the iterative weighted least squares (IWLS) method and deviance analysis. A number of tests are available for assessing the potential of aggregates for alkali-aggregate reaction. These are listed, for example, in ASTM C33-93. The majority of these test procedures have been widely used in researching aggregates, but there are serious reservations concerning the application of some of these tests to the selection of materials for structures. In recent years, many papers have been published detailing investigations of the tests. An examination of the literature shows that most of the tests are of little value for making engineering decisions. This paper reviews the literature relating to three commonly used tests, the ASTM C-289 Rapid Chemical Test, the ASTM C-227 Mortar Bar Test and what has become ASTM C-1260-94 Accelerated Mortar Bar Expansion Test. Attention has been given to a detailed practical study of the accelerated mortar bar tests since these are becoming very widely used. The experimental work, in essence, represents a determination of the errors to be expected from application of the test to a single aggregate and the factors that influence these errors. The repeatability of the tests suggests an upper bound standard deviation of 0.0365% expansion. This figure is used to establish discriminant criteria for the recognition of potentially damaging materials. It is evident that diagnosis of potentially highly reactive materials can be made with confidence, but that a large number of tests are required to assess marginal types. Petrographic evaluation of the mortar following the test is essential, particularly where the results are borderline, though the presence of traces of gel has to be interpreted with caution. Much of the uncertainty in the test results derives from inherent aggregate variability. A test schedule can be designed that has small contributions to the error from the experimental steps, but the error due to aggregate variability remains. This can lead to the requirement for the manufacture of multiple batches of mortar for establishing acceptance criteria for even a single aggregate batch, and further consideration is needed as to the procedures necessary for the assessment of aggregate sources.  相似文献

The main objectives of this study were to estimate genetic parameters for milk urea nitrogen (MUN) in Holstein cattle and to conduct a single-step (ss)GWAS to identify candidate genes associated with MUN. Phenotypic measurements from 24,435 Holstein cows were collected from March 2013 to July 2019 in 9 dairy farms located in the Beijing area, China. A total of 2,029 cows were genotyped using the Illumina 150K Bovine Bead Chip, containing 121,188 SNP. A single-trait repeatability model was used to evaluate the genetic background of MUN. We found that MUN is a trait with low heritability (0.06 ± 0.004) and repeatability (0.12). Considering similar milk production levels, a lower MUN concentration indicates higher nitrogen digestibility. The genetic correlations between MUN and milk yield, net energy concentration, fat percentage, protein percentage, and lactose percentage were positive and ranged from 0.02 to 0.26. The genetic correlation between MUN and somatic cell score (SCS) was negative (?0.18), indicating that animals with higher MUN levels tend to have lower SCS. Both ssGWAS and pathway enrichment analyses were used to explore the genetic mechanisms underlying MUN. A total of 18 SNP (located on BTA11, BTA12, BTA14, BTA17, and BTA18) were found to be significantly associated with MUN. The genes CFAP77, CAMSAP1, CACNA1B, ADGRB1, FARP1, and INTU are considered to be candidate genes for MUN. These candidate genes are associated with important biological processes such as protein and lipid metabolism and binding to specific proteins. This set of candidate genes, metabolic pathways, and their functions provide a better understanding of the genomic architecture and physiological mechanisms underlying MUN in Holstein cattle.  相似文献

Reliable data with less variation play a key role for acceptance of the usefulness of the measurement output of a wheel profile measurement system (WPMS) in a railway network. However, in practice, most studies are carried out without checking the reliability of data from such a system, which may lead to inappropriate maintenance strategies. To ensure the measurement capability of WPMS and to support robust maintenance in railway systems, this study has evaluated measurement data for the flange height, flange thickness, flange slope, and tread hollowing of rolling stock wheels by using gauge repeatability and reproducibility (GR&R). In this study, acceptance and rejection criteria for the precision-to-tolerance ratio (PTR), signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), and discrimination ratio (DR) have been employed to evaluate the measurement capabilities. For the purpose of illustration, we have implemented a new proposed approach. This approach involves both an analysis using graphs with four regions with a confidence interval (CI) of 95% and an analysis using a graph with three regions with only the predicted values; the latter type of graph represents an innovation made in this study. This graph has the advantages that it can visualize three different levels of data quality in same figure, namely “unacceptable”, “acceptable” and “good”, and also include a number of measures without becoming unclear, which are features that have been missing in previous presentations. The results show that the measurements of the flange slope are on an acceptable level, while those for the flange height, flange thickness and tread hollowing have to be rejected as unacceptable. The action proposed for increasing the quality of data on the flange height, flange thickness and tread hollowing is to enhance the calibration of the WPMS. In conclusion, GR&R is a useful tool to evaluate the measurement capability of WPMS and to provide helpful support for maintenance decision making. This investigation also shows that there is good reason to be careful when selecting measures and when interpreting the results, since, for a certain wheel profile parameter, when one measure is used, the results may be acceptable, but when another measure is used, the results may be unacceptable.  相似文献

The primary objective of this study was to evaluate the repeatability of measurements of β-hydroxybutyrate (BHB) concentrations in capillary blood obtained from minimal-invasive puncturing of different sites at the external vulva skin of dairy cows. A total of 240 multiparous cows sampled once within 21 d in milk were enrolled in the study. Capillary blood samples were obtained from the right and left labium of the external vulva skin and additionally from a site close to the first puncture. Samples were analyzed by using an electronic hand-held device [FreeStyle Precison Neo (FSP-Neo), Abbott GmbH & Co., Wiesbaden, Germany)]. Additionally, samples from a coccygeal vessel were analyzed as reference in a laboratory. Mean deviations (± standard deviation) between the 3 capillary sampling sites ranged from 0.01 ± 0.14 (left vs. right labium) to 0.02 ± 0.13 mmol/L (left or right labium vs. additional site). The BHB concentrations in capillary blood compared with the reference showed a mean deviation of 0.14 ± 0.18 mmol/L. The Spearman correlation coefficient between BHB concentrations in capillary blood and coccygeal blood was 85.4%. Mixed model analyses showed no significant effect of sampling site or squeezing the skin during sampling procedures on the differences toward the reference. Based on laboratory BHB concentrations of ≥1.2 and ≥1.4 mmol/L, respectively, the prevalence of hyperketonemia was 10.4 (n = 25) and 5.0% (n = 12). Thresholds to detect hyperketonemia with the FSP-Neo were optimized by receiver operating characteristic analyses. Based on a laboratory BHB concentration of ≥1.2 mmol/L thresholds were determined as 1.1 (left labium, 2nd puncture) and 1.0 mmol/L (right labium), with sensitivities between 94 and 99% and specificities between 89 and 97%. Based on a serum BHB concentration of 1.4 mmol/L, receiver operating characteristic analyses resulted in optimized cutoffs of 1.4 mmol/L for all sampling sites at the vulva, with sensitivities of 100% and specificities between 96 and 99%. In conclusion, vulvar capillary blood is suitable for accurate measuring of BHB concentrations by using the FSP-Neo. After adjusting the thresholds, the FSP-Neo provides very good test characteristics independent of the capillary sampling site or squeezing the skin and allows a practical and reliable screening tool for dairy cows.  相似文献

This article considers the impact of a measurement system that meets the 4:1 rule. Probabilities of accepting a bad part and rejecting a good part are evaluated. A simulation study calculates the increased estimates of the population standard deviation when the measurement error is ignored, where both non‐trending and trending populations are considered. Also, the impact of sample size is evaluated on estimates and upper confidence bounds of the measurement system standard deviation that are used to assess the 4:1 rule capability; both measurement systems from a single and multiple sources of variation are explored. Reducing process variability is presently an area of much interest in manufacturing organizations. Programmes such as Six Sigma robustly link the financial performance of the organization to the degree of variability present in the processes and products of the organization. Data, and hence measurement processes, play an important part in driving such programmes and in making key manufacturing decisions. In many organizations, however, little thought is given to the quality of the data generated by such measurement processes. By using potentially flawed data in making fundamental manufacturing decisions, the quality of the decision‐making process is undermined and, potentially, significant costs are incurred. Research in this area is sparse and has concentrated on the technicalities of the methodologies available to assess measurement process capability. Little work has been done on how to operationalize such activities to give maximum benefit. From the perspective of one automotive company, this paper briefly reviews the approaches presently available to assess the quality of data and develops a practical approach, which is based on an existing technical methodology and incorporates simple continuous improvement tools within a framework which facilitates appropriate improvement actions for each process assessed.
