We report a 70-year-old female who complained of shortness of breath and a pulsating suprasternal lump. CT scan showed innominate artery dilatation. In addition, operative exposure showed tortuous arteries and a common origin of the left common carotid and innominate arteries. Surgical correction by innominate artery division and reimplantation at the ascending aorta was performed, and the patient’s symptoms completely disappeared after the procedure. 相似文献

This paper describes and analyzes a proposed solution of fundamental limitative factor of teleradiology to overcome the teleradiology usages problems in underdeveloped and developing countries. The goal is to achieve a very simple and cost-efficient way to take advantage of teleradiology in anywhere even in remote and rural areas. To meet the goal of this study, the following methodology which is consists of two main procedures was done: (1) Using a digital camera in order to provide a digital image from radiographs. (2) Using an image compression tool in order to compress digital images. The results showed that there is no significant difference between digital images (non-compress and compress images) and radiographic films. Also, there was a logic relationship between the diagnostic quality and diagnostic accuracy. Since the maximum percent of diagnostic accuracy can be seen among “Good” quality images and the minimum to was related “Poor”. The results of our study indicate that a digital camera could be utilized to capture digital images from radiographic films of chest x-ray. To reduce the size of digital images, a lossy compression technique could be applied at compression percent of 50 or less without any significant differences. The compressed images can be sent easily by email to other places for consultation and also they can be stored with a smaller size. 相似文献

This paper describes the development and use of a direct compression stimulator for culturing explants from the meniscus of the knee and articular cartilage. Following design and fabrication of the instrument along with its data acquisition system, the function of the machine was verified by both mechanical means and tissue effect. The loading chamber can hold up to 45 5 mm diameter samples. While designed to stimulate samples up to 4 mm thick, axial displacements as little as 0.127 μm are within the theoretical capacity of the stimulator. In gene expression studies, collagen II and aggrecan expression were examined in explants from articular cartilage as well as medial and lateral menisci subjected to dynamic stimulation and static compression. These results were then compared to free swelling samples. It was found that static compression to cut thickness down-regulated aggrecan and collagen II expression in articular cartilage explants compared to free swelling controls by 94% and 90%, respectively. The application of a dynamic, intermittent, 2% oscillation around the cut thickness returned expression levels to those of free swelling controls at 4 h but not at 76 h. In medial meniscus samples, dynamic compression up-regulated aggrecan expression by 108%, but not collagen II expression, at 4 and 76 h compared to static controls. No difference in gene expression was observed for lateral meniscal explants. Thus, effects of direct compression seen in articular cartilage may not necessarily translate to the knee meniscus. The design of this stimulator will allow a variety of tissues and loading regimens to be examined. It is hoped that regimens can be found that not only return samples to the production levels of free swelling controls, but also surpass them in terms of gene expression, protein synthesis, and functional properties. 相似文献

The aim of the study was to identify the differential protein expressions related to neuropathic pain and neuroprotection
in the dorsal root ganglion (DRG) following chronic compression of DRG (CCD) in rats. We conducted a proteomics study of L4 and L5 DRG after CCD for 28 days. A total of 98 protein spots were detected with significant changes in their expression levels
after CCD and 15 protein spots were identified by the matrix assisted laser desorption ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry
(MALDI-TOF MS) analysis. Of these proteins, annexin A2, protein kinase C epsilon (PKCε), glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenases
(GAPDH), and heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) were up-regulated significantly compared with the normal control. These four proteins
and p11, which was annexin A2 light chain, were further examined by Western blotting. The results of Western blotting and
the proteomic analysis showed consistent data. Moreover, real-time quantitative RT–PCR experiments indicated that CCD-induced
increase in protein levels was associated with an up-regulation of annexin A2 and PKCε gene expression. In conclusion, this
study highlights the molecular process in DRG underlying neuropathic pain. CCD is associated with the up-regulation of annexin
A2 and PKCε and their related genes. The up-regulation of GAPDH and HSP70 suggests that there exist concurrent processes of
nervous injury and neuroprotection in the course of neuropathic pain. 相似文献

Physiological models have demonstrated that cells undergo a cyclic regimen of hydrostatic compression and fluid shear stress
within the lacunar-canalicular porosity of bone. A new modular bioreactor was designed to incorporate both perfusion fluid
flow and hydrostatic compression in an effort to more accurately simulate the mechanical loading and stress found in natural
bone in vivo. The bioreactor design incorporated custom and off-the-shelf components to produce levels of mechanical stimuli relevant
to the physiologic range, including hydrostatic compression exceeding 300 kPa and perfusion shear stress of 0.7 dyne/cm2. Preliminary findings indicated that the novel system facilitated the viable growth of cells on discrete tissue engineering
scaffolds. The bioreactor has established an experimental platform for ongoing investigation of the interactive effect of
perfusion fluid flow and hydrostatic compression on multiple cell types. 相似文献

目的探讨不同吸氧方法治疗自发性气胸的效果。方法 42例自发性气胸患者分为高流量吸氧组与低流量吸氧组,高流量吸氧组吸氧流量5~6 L/min,每次1小时,每天2次;低流量吸氧组吸氧流量2~3 L/min,每天吸氧时间〉12小时。结果两种吸氧方法对自发性气胸均有显著疗效,治疗前后肺压缩程度、动脉氧分压(PaO2)、氧合指数(PaO2/FiO2)差异有统计学意义(P〈0.01);高流量吸氧组气胸吸收较低流量吸氧组快,对肺压缩的疗效较低流量吸氧组显著,差异有统计学意义(P〈0.01)。结论自发性气胸进行保守治疗时,短时间高浓度吸氧对肺压缩的疗效优于长时间低流量吸氧。 相似文献

目的 探讨空气波压力治疗配合传统方法 治疗乳腺癌术后上肢淋巴水肿的临床效果.方法 对收治的40例乳腺癌术后上肢淋巴水肿患者随机分为试验组和对照组,每组20例,实验组用空气波压力治疗配合常规传统治疗,对照组采用常规传统治疗.结果 治疗前与治疗2 w后上臂周径差值两组分别为(4.7±0.6)cm、(3.9±0.4)cm,前臂周径差值两组分别为(2.0±0.7)cm、(1.1±0.4)cm,两组对比都有统计学意义(P<0.05);两组症状消失时间分别为(7.5±1.4)d、(12.6±2.8)d(P<0.05).结论 空气波压力治疗配合传统治疗,在乳腺癌术后上肢淋巴水肿的治疗中疗效明显、安全且经济实用. 相似文献
