Third‐order and fifth‐order upwind compact finite difference schemes based on flux‐difference splitting are proposed for solving the incompressible Navier–Stokes equations in conjunction with the artificial compressibility (AC) method. Since the governing equations in the AC method are hyperbolic, flux‐difference splitting (FDS) originally developed for the compressible Euler equations can be used. In the present upwind compact schemes, the split derivatives for the convective terms at grid points are linked to the differences of split fluxes between neighboring grid points, and these differences are computed by using FDS. The viscous terms are approximated with a sixth‐order central compact scheme. Comparisons with 2D benchmark solutions demonstrate that the present compact schemes are simple, efficient, and high‐order accurate. Copyright © 2008 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. 相似文献

A new artificial boundary condition for two‐dimensional subsonic flows governed by the compressible Navier–Stokes equations is derived. It is based on the hyperbolic part of the equations, according to the way of propagation of the characteristic waves. A reference flow, as well as a convection velocity, is used to properly discretize the terms corresponding to the entering waves. Numerical tests on various classical model problems, whose solutions are known, and comparisons with other boundary conditions (BCs), show the efficiency of the BC. In this work, in order to investigate a modeling technique of the structure with bolted joints, four kinds of finite element models are introduced; a solid bolt model, a coupled bolt model, a spider bolt model, and a no-bolt model. All the proposed models take into account pretension effect and contact behavior between flanges to be joined. Among these models, the solid bolt model, which is modeled by using 3D solid elements and surface-to-surface contact elements between head/nut and the flange interfaces, provides the best accurate responses compared with the experimental results. In addition, the coupled bolt model, which couples degree of freedom between the head/nut and the flange, shows the best effectiveness and usefulness in view of computational time and memory usage. Finally, the bolt model proposed in this study is adopted for a structural analysis of a large marine diesel engine consisting of several parts which are connected by long stay bolts. 相似文献

An agent‐based C++ program was developed to model student drinking. Student‐agents interact with each other and are randomly subjected to good or bad drinking experiences, to stories of other students' experiences, and to peer pressure. The program outputs drinking rates as functions of time based on various input parameters. We employ the technique of splitting for constructing artificial boundary conditions (ABCs) for the linear advection–diffusion–reaction equation when the computational domain is an nD open set with a piecewise smooth artificial boundary. The splitting is performed both by the physical processes and by coordinates. The former permits to construct ABCs for each of the processes separately, which provides local exact boundary conditions; the latter leads to ABCs much less exigent to the shape of artificial boundary in comparison with many others. We also prove that the corresponding boundary value problems are well-posed, and present results of the numerical experiments that confirm the theoretical study. 相似文献
