The paper describes the integration of a chemical and a vapour-compression heat pump for energy storage applications. The vapour-compression system is designed to operate using the UK cheap rate ‘Economy 7’ electricity tariff. The system is characterized thermodynamically using various refrigerant/absorbent pairs in the chemical storage circuit and an ozone-friendly refrigerant, R134a, in the vapour-compression circuit. Results indicate that the H2O/Na2S pair provides a high energy storage density and is the most suitable for use in this system. The paper also describes the design features of a domestic-sized version of this heat pump system. Air in the sunspace (conservatory) of a house was used as a heat source for the heat pump. 相似文献

The field response ofTomicus piniperda (L.) andHylurgops palliatus (Gyll.) (Coleoptera: Scolytidae) to the attractant ethanol in combination with volatile wood constituents released from the nonhost tree speciesPopulus tremula L. (Salicaceae) andBetula pendula Roth (Betulaceae) was studied using flight barrier traps. The attraction of both species decreased when aspen or birch wood was added to the ethanol bait. The same was true forRhizophagus depressus (F.) (Coleoptera: Rhizophagidae), a predatory species associated with conifer bark beetles.Glischrochilus quadripunctatus (L-),Epuraea bickhardti St.-Claire Deville,E. unicolor (Oliv.) Earlier studies conducted in the use of sealed tubes with polyalkylene glycol lubricants and polyethylene terephthalete (PET) films revealed that the PET films exhibited embrittlement and (visual) degradation. This led to an investigation of PET embrittlement mechanisms with the new lubricants used with HFC 134a. The lubricants studied were three polypropylene glycols (the monol, the diol and the completely end-capped glycols), pentaerythritol ester and a blend of monol and ester. The effects of moisture content, temperature and lubricant structure were studied. All lubricants in this study were of viscosity grade ISO-32 (150 SUS). The results were compared to PET film embrittlement in the presence of CFC 12 and mineral oil. This study reconfirmed the earlier findings that the PET films must be dried to lower than 0.1 wt.% moisture content for use in hermetic systems. This paper discusses the effect of the moisture content of the lubricant and the effect of the lubricant structure on PET films. The dependence of the various mechanisms on temperature is shown. Esters and end-capped polyalkylene glycols are recommended for use with HFC 134a. 相似文献

This paper deals with the pricing and investment decision problem of multi-modal transportation systems in which the congestion
is a significant factor in the assessment of system costs. This study approaches this congestion pricing problem with a number
of social welfare maximization problems, all of which have the identical structure except financial constraints. One welfare
maximization problem examined in this study yields the pricing and investment decision, which can attain the first-best social
optimality for multi-modal transportation systems. Other welfare maximization problems show he second-best optimal solutions
that can address two policy questions in transportation economics, namely, the cross-subsidy between competing modes and peak-period
congestion charges on a single highway link.

Adaptive algorithms are important tools for efficient finite‐element mesh design. In this paper, an error controlled adaptive mesh‐refining algorithm is proposed for a non‐conforming low‐order finite‐element method for the Reissner–Mindlin plate model. The algorithm is controlled by a reliable and efficient residual‐based a posteriori error estimate, which is robust with respect to the plate's thickness. Numerical evidence for this and the efficiency of the new algorithm is provided in the sense that non‐optimal convergence rates are optimally improved in our numerical experiments. Geometry-Dependent R-Curve for Quasi-Brittle Materials 总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4
Fracture of quasi-brittle materials such as ceramics and cement-based materials can be described by an R -curve, defined as fracture resistance. The R -curve can be constructed as the envelope of the strain energy release rates ( G ). In this study, R -curve is defined as an envelope of G -curves obtained by varying the dimensions of identical specimens, while keeping the geometry and the initial flaw size constant. By approximating the G -curve with a second-order function of the crack length, a simple formulation of the R -curve is derived by solving a differential equation. Three parameters are needed for the proposed R -curve. These parameters can be obtained by testing a notched-beam specimen and using linear elastic fracture mechanics. The proposed R -curve simulates well the geometry dependency as well as other characteristics of the fracture response of quasi-brittle materials. 相似文献
