BACKGROUND: The purpose of this study was to determine bone mineral density (BMD) of lumbar spine in malnourished children without rachitic manifestations, before and after dietary treatment and vitamin D supplementation, and to compare with healthy children of the same community. METHODS: The subjects were 41 children with malnutrition and 21 healthy controls. None of the children had clinical, biochemical and/or radiological rickets features. The patients had moderate 15 and severe 26 malnutrition according to Gomez's criteria. Using the Wellcome Classification, marasmus was diagnosed in 16 children, kwashiorkor in 10 children. The children with malnutrition were given vitamin D supplementation. RESULTS: BMD was lower in children with malnutrition than in controls (P < 0.01). Mineralization significantly effected the severity of malnutrition (P < 0.01). BMD in kwashiorkor was similar to that of marasmus. The mean BMD level of infants receiving 400 IU of vitamin D daily was similar to that of infants receiving 800 IU of vitamin D daily at the beginning of treatment. In two supplementation groups, the BMD gradually increased during the first 3 months of treatment, but this increase in the infants receiving 800 IU of vitamin D daily was significantly higher than that in the infants receiving 400 IU of vitamin D daily. CONCLUSION: Measurements of BMD in children with malnutrition, especially severe malnutrition, are to be recommended in the initial assessment of the severity of osteopenia and in the follow up to monitor the response to therapy. Children with malnutrition should be given 800 IU of vitamin D daily. The loss of BMD must be accepted as a complication of malnutrition.  相似文献

目的分析低角度青少年特发性脊柱侧凸(adolescent idiopathic scoliosis,AIS)女性患者的骨密度(BMD)和骨矿含量(BMC),探讨其与年龄、生长发育、人体测量学和侧凸角度等的相关性。方法研究对象为218例Cobb角15~40°的女性AIS患者。运用双能X线骨密度吸收仪测定非优势侧股骨颈和腰椎的BMC/BMD。探讨这两个部位的BMC/BMD与患者的年龄、生长发育、人体测量学和侧凸角度等的相关性。结果所有患者的年龄平均为(13.4±1.4)岁,Cobb角平均为(28.3±6.2)°。股骨颈BMD平均为(0.827±0.103)g/cm2,腰椎BMD平均为(0.887±0.124)g/cm2,显著低于同龄健康女性儿童;股骨颈BMC平均为(3.49±0.56)g,腰椎BMC平均为(29.78±7.37)g。患者的BMC/BMD与Cobb角无显著相关,而与体重、身高、Risser征、月经状况、BMI和年龄显著相关。逐步回归分析显示,体重和年龄是影响患者BMD的主要因素。结论低角度女性AIS患者存在全身性的骨量减低,且与Cobb角无显著相关,而与生长发育和人体测量学相关指标显著相关。这提示AIS患者的骨量减低与生长发育和低体重有关。  相似文献

Leukemic cells from a series of patients with chronic B-lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) were analyzed for their buoyant density on discontinuous Percoll gradients. The density profile varied markedly between different patients and also between samples from different body compartments within the same patient. A good correlation was observed between buoyant density and maturation stage of the leukemic clones as judged by Ig-expression and their reactivity with a panel of monoclonal antibodies. Phorbol-ester-induced changes in the leukemic cells were found to be accompanied by a general decrease in their buoyant density. No correlation between density and clinical parameters such as cell counts, clinical stage and survival could be noted. Buoyant density characterization of leukemic B-cell populations is seen as a useful, rapid and simple marker of compartmentalization within the B-lymphocyte maturation spectrum but its clinical relevance remains to be established.  相似文献

The ultrastructures and distributions of the discrete anatomical synapses which constitute two distinct types of output connections made by individual ocellar L-neurons, L1-3, are described. Outputs to neurones L4-5 are excitatory and transmit tonically, whereas reciprocal connections among the three L1-3 neurones are inhibitory and incapable of transmission for longer than a few milliseconds. The tonically transmitting synapses are located in the lateral ocellar tract and are made between the axons of L1-3, which do not receive inputs, and short branches of L4-5, which make no outputs. Each excitatory connection is composed of a few hundred discrete anatomical synapses, each characterised by a bar-shaped presynaptic density which is 0.15-1.5 microns in length and associated with a large number of round synaptic vesicles. Two postsynaptic profiles are apposed to each presynaptic density. Associated with tonic synapses are abundant invaginations of the presynaptic membrane. Synapses of the reciprocal, inhibitory, phasic connections occur in the protocerebral arbors of L1-3, among numerous output synapses of these neurones. Each phasic connection is composed of a few tens of discrete anatomical synapses. Each bar-shaped presynaptic density is associated with two postsynaptic profiles, and is 0.1-1.0 microns long. Compared with the tonic, excitatory connection, there are fewer vesicles and fewer invaginations of the presynaptic membrane associated with each synapse.  相似文献

目的 :探讨肿瘤内的微血管密度 (IMD)和 p1 6基因表达与肾细胞癌 (RCC)生物学行为的关系。 方法 :采用免疫组织化学方法 ,对 76例RCC患者的根治性肾切除标本 ,检测第Ⅷ因子相关抗原和 p1 6基因表达 ,分析IMD、p1 6基因表达与RCC分期、分级及预后的相关性。 结果 :IMD随临床分期升高而增加 (P <0 .0 5 ) ,而与分级无明显相关性 (P >0 .0 5 ) ,随访 5年内死亡者IMD明显升高 (P <0 .0 1 ) ;癌旁组织中 p1 6阳性率 (75 .0 % )显著高于RCC组织 (4 8.7% ) ,p1 6阳性表达随临床分期、病理分级升高而降低 (P <0 .0 5 ) ,而与IMD呈负相关性。结论 :IMD是预测RCC恶性行为的一个有用指标 ,IMD和p1 6基因表达可为RCC的疗效和预后判定提供重要的资料。  相似文献

目的 调查广东省信宜市怀乡镇和水口镇蚊媒数量及种类分布。方法 怀乡镇检查猪场、猪栏和牛房中蚊媒的分布;水口镇以牛诱和猪栏检查的方法调查蚊媒的分布。于19:00~21:30点观察蚊媒出现的情况,并以捕蚊管捕捉蚊媒。对所捕按蚊进行计数、分类。结果 共捕获蚊媒602只,其中包含5个种:骚扰阿蚊、三带喙库蚊、中华按蚊、多斑按蚊和嵌斑按蚊。三带喙库蚊为当地的优势蚊种,其占除阿蚊外总蚊量的90.8%。结论 三带喙库蚊为信宜市的优势蚊种。  相似文献

目的研究周围型肺腺癌的CT、病理征象与肿瘤组织VEGF-C、VEGFR-3表达及淋巴管生成的相关性。方法搜集40例经手术病理证实的肺腺癌,术前均行CT平扫及增强扫描,对肿瘤标本行SP免疫组化染色,根据其阳性表达计数阳性细胞数及淋巴管密度(LMVD),分析肺腺癌某些CT、病理征象与VEGF-C、VEGFR-3表达,LMVD值间的关系。结果淋巴结增大、转移及其它一些CT表现与VEGF-C、VEGFR-3过表达及LMVD值有密切相关性;肿瘤组织的VEGF-C、VEGFR-3表达与LMVD值亦有相关性。结论肺腺癌淋巴结增大等CT征象与VEGF-C、VEGFR-3表达及淋巴管生成具有相关性。  相似文献

Complex segregation analyses of bone mineral density in Chinese   总被引:3,自引:1,他引:2  
China has the largest population in the world; approximately 7% of the total population suffers from primary osteoporosis. Osteoporosis is mainly characterized by low bone mineral density (BMD). In the present study, familial correlation and segregation analyses for spine and hip BMDs have been undertaken for the first time in a Chinese sample composed of 401 nuclear families with a total of 1,260 individuals. The results indicate a major gene of additive inheritance for hip BMD, whereas there is no evidence of a major gene influencing spine BMD. Significant familial residual effects are found for both traits, and heritability estimates (±SE) for spine and hip BMDs are 0.807(0.099) and 0.897(0.101), respectively. Sex and age differences in genotype‐specific average BMD are also observed. This study provides the first evidence quantifying the high degree of genetic determination of BMD variation in the Chinese.  相似文献

Weight loss after gastric bypass procedures has been well studied, but the long-term metabolic sequelae are not known. Data on bone mineral density (BMD), calcium, parathyroid hormone, and vitamin D were collected preoperatively and at yearly intervals after gastric bypass procedures. A total of 230 patients underwent preoperative BMD scans. Fifteen patients were osteopenic preoperatively, and three patients subsequently developed osteopenia postoperatively within the first year. No patient had or developed osteoporosis. At 1 year, total forearm BMD decreased by 0.55% (n = 91; P = .03) and radius BMD had increased overall by 1.85% (n = 23; P = .008); both total hip and lumbar spine BMD decreased by 9.27% (n = 22; P < .001) and 4.53% (n = 31; P < .001), respectively. By the second postoperative year, BMD in the total forearm had decreased an additional 3.62% (n = 14; P<.001), whereas radius BMD remained unchanged. Although total hip and lumbar spine BMD significantly decreased at 1 year, by year 2 both total hip and lumbar spine BMD only slightly decreased and were not significantly different from before the operation. Serum calcium decreased from 9.8 mg/dL to 9.2 during the first year (not significant [NS]) and then to 8.8 (NS) by the second year. Parathyroid hormone increased from 59.7 pg/mL (nl 10-65 pg/mL) preoperatively to 63.1 during year 1 (NS) and continued to increase to 64.7 by year 2 (NS). No difference was noted among levels of 25-hydroxy vitamin D preoperatively (25.2 ng/mL; nl 10-65 ng/mL), at 1 year (34.4), and at 2 years (35.4). Our data indicate that bone loss is highest in the first year after gastric bypass with stabilization, and that, in some cases, there is an increase in bone density after the first year.
