Porous scaffolds play important roles in tissue engineering. Biodegradable synthetic polymers, such as poly(l-lactic acid) (PLLA), frequently are used in the preparation of porous scaffolds. Pretreating the surface of a PLLA porous scaffold is required to increase its wettability for smooth cell seeding due to the hydrophobic property of the scaffold's surface. In this study, a simple coating method was used to modify the surface of the PLLA sponges. The coating method included three steps: filling the PLLA sponge pores with collagen aqueous solution, centrifuging to remove excess collagen, and, finally, freeze-drying. Compared with the uncoated PLLA sponge, the collagen-coated PLLA sponge demonstrated both improved wettability and high water absorption. Cells were smoothly seeded in the collagen-coated PLLA sponges by dropping a cell suspension solution onto the sponges. Cells adhered to the collagen-coated sponge and were distributed homogeneously throughout the collagen-coated PLLA sponge.  相似文献

In order to confirm the reliability of particle size measurement technique and to prepare standard reference particles for calibrating particle size measurement devices, experimental and theoretical studies have been conducted about the uncertainty region of particle size measurement for the general particle size distribution. A new theoretical equation to calculate fundamental uncertainty region in the case that the maximum and minimum particle sizes are known, is derived based on Tschebyscheff theory. The uncertainty regions calculated based on the proposed method are applied to poly-disperse particles and a picket-fence distribution composed of two kinds of nearly mono-disperse particles.For the poly-disperse particles, the uncertainty region increases with the increase in particle diameter. For the picket-fence distribution composed of two kinds of nearly mono-disperse particles, the uncertainty region increases around the intermediate particle diameters between the two kinds of particles.Numerical simulation of uncertainty region for the picket-fence distribution has also been carried out. The uncertainty region decreases with the increase in sample size or the decrease in geometric standard deviation.  相似文献

Metallic glass is one of the most attractive advanced materials, and many researchers have conducted various developmental research works. Metallic glass is expected to be used as a functional material because of its excellent physical and chemical functions such as high strength and high corrosion resistance. However, the application for small size parts has been carried out only in some industrial fields. In order to widen the industrial application fields, a composite material is preferred for the cost performance. In the coating processes of metallic glass with the conventional deposition techniques, there is a difficulty to form thick coatings due to their low deposition rate. Thermal spraying method is one of the potential candidates to produce metallic glass composites. Metallic glass coatings can be applied to the longer parts and therefore the application field can be widened. The gas tunnel plasma spraying is one of the most important technologies for high quality ceramic coating and synthesizing functional materials. As the gas tunnel type plasma jet is superior to the properties of other conventional type plasma jets, this plasma has great possibilities for various applications in thermal processing. In this study, the gas tunnel type plasma spraying was used to form the metallic glass coatings on the stainless-steel substrate. The microstructure and surface morphology of the metallic glass coatings were examined using Fe-based metallic glass powder and Zr-based metallic glass powder as coating material. For the mechanical properties the Vickers hardness was measured on the cross section of both the coatings and the difference between the powders was compared.  相似文献

The microadsorption structure of two kinds of porphyrin molecules on an anionic clay surface was investigated by photochemical energy transfer reaction. Three procedures were examined for the preparation of the clay/porphyrin complexes: (i) coadsorption (CA) method, (ii) sequential adsorption (SA) method, and (iii) independent adsorption (IA) method as described in the text. Efficient and moderate energy transfer reactions were observed in the CA and SA complexes, respectively. On the contrary, the energy transfer did not occur in the IA complex. These results indicate that the microadsorption structure of the two kinds of porphyrin on the clay mineral surface resulting from the sample preparation methods, affects the energy transfer efficiency. As a result, it was revealed that (i) the adsorbed porphyrins can move on the clay mineral surface but cannot move from one clay surface to another clay sheet, and (ii) the integration structure of two kinds of porphyrin is more stable than the segregation structure in the present system. This unusual structure originated from an extremely strong electrostatic interaction between the porphyrin and the clay mineral as a result of a "size-matching rule". These unique strongly fixed dye assemblies on the clay mineral surface, in which the aggregation and segregation of dyes are suppressed, is very promising and attractive for constructing efficient photochemical reaction systems.  相似文献

PON (Passive Optical Network) permits the economical deployment of FTTH (Fiber to the Home) networks by sharing a single optical subscriber line among multiple subscribers. Especially since 2002, the deployment of PON systems has grown rapidly. Qbeta replicase, an RNA-dependent RNA polymerase of RNA coliphage Qbeta, is a heterotetramer composed of a phage-encoded beta-subunit and three host-encoded proteins: the ribosomal protein S1 (alpha-subunit), EF-Tu, and EF-Ts. Several purification methods for Qbeta replicase were described previously. However, in our efforts to improve the production of Qbeta replicase, a substantial amount of the beta-subunit overproduced in Escherichia coli cells was found as insoluble aggregates. In this paper, we describe two kinds of method of producing Qbeta replicase. In one kind, both EF-Tu and EF-Ts subunits were expressed with the beta-subunit, and in the other kind, the beta-subunit was genetically fused with EF-Tu and EF-Ts. The fused protein, a single-chain alpha-less Qbeta replicase, was mostly found in the soluble fraction and could be readily purified. These results pave the way for the large-scale production of the highly purified form of this enzyme.  相似文献

The formation of spore clumps of Bacillus coagulans and Bacillus licheniformis during high-pressure carbon dioxide treatment (HCT) was investigated. As the treatment time increased, the number of spore clumps increased. After 120 min, single spore decreased to 20-35% of the population. Addition of a surfactant decreased the hydrophobicity of spore surface and increased both the number of single spores and the rate of inactivation ratio of B. coagulans and B. licheniformis spores.  相似文献

This study examined the characteristics of as-cast Ti-Cr(7–19%)-Cu(3–7%) (all percentages in this article are mass%) alloys to evaluate their suitability for dental applications; studies on the alloy structures and mechanical properties, grindability, and corrosion behavior were included in the investigation. The alloys were centrifugally cast and bench-cooled in investment molds. The x-ray diffractometry of the as-cast alloys bench-cooled in the molds indicated the following phases: α+β+ω in the 7% Cr and 7% Cr+3% Cu; β+ω in the 13%Cr; and β in the 13%Cr+3% Cu through the 19%Cr+3% Cu alloys. The strengths of the binary β Ti-Cr and ternary β Ti-Cr-Cu alloys with 13 and 19% Cr were approximately two times higher than those of CP Ti. The alloy ductility was dependent on the chemical composition and thus, the microstructure. The 7% Cr alloys were extremely brittle and hard due to the ω phase, but the ductility was restored in the 13 and 19% Cr alloys. The hardness (HV) of the cast 13 and 19% Cr alloys was approximately 300–350 compared with a value of 200 for CP Ti. The grindability of the cast alloys was examined using a rotating SiC wheel at speeds (circumferential) of 500 and 1250 m/min. At the higher speed, the grindability of the 13 and 19% Cr alloys increased with the Cu content. The grindability of the 13% Cr alloy with 7% Cu was similar to that of CP Ti. Evaluation of the corrosion behavior in an artificial saliva revealed that the alloys are like many other titanium alloys within the normal intraoral oxidation potential. The wear resistance testing of these alloys also showed favorable results. Freeze concentration is one of the methods to concentrate solution by making pure ice in the solution. In general, the ratio of condensation is focused on, and so the research on the concentration captured in ice is very limited. However, quality improvement of eliminating impurities from wastewater is a very important task. In this study, the difference of initial morphology of ice was focused on and the influence on the freeze concentration was studied. It was found that the concentration of solute captured in ice was in the following order, from bigger value, multi-crystal ice, a single crystal ice with growth direction in a-axis and a single crystal ice with growth direction in c-axis. It was clarified that the ratio of concentration between the solute captured in ice and the solute in the mother solution varied from 1/10 to 1/250, depending on the crystal orientation of the ice.  相似文献
