Friction coefficient plays an important role in determining the contact tractions and consequently the stresses that drive damage mechanisms in components subjected to fretting fatigue. Friction coefficient evolves to different magnitudes at different points in the contact interface. Effect of this spatial variation in friction coefficient on the shear distribution for contacts involving similar isotropic materials has been presented in this paper. Full sliding tests have been conducted to obtain friction coefficient as a function of sliding distance. Well characterized set of experiments to determine the average friction coefficient in fretted specimens is briefly discussed. Existing analysis for obtaining the shear traction for arbitrary smooth profiles has been modified to take the variation of friction coefficient from one point to another into account. Using this analysis, spatial variation of friction coefficient in fretted specimens has been obtained. It has been found that using a constant friction coefficient (equal to the slip zone friction coefficient) throughout the contact zone is a good enough approximation in most of the cases. However, in some cases, when the slip zones extend into regions where the friction coefficient has not reached the asymptotic value, actual distribution of friction coefficient gives a different shear stress distribution as compared to a constant slip zone friction coefficient.  相似文献

Veneering ceramics designed to be used with modern zirconia framework restorations have been reported to fracture occasionally in vivo. The fracture toughness of such veneering ceramics was measured and compared to that of conventional feldspathic porcelain veneering ceramics for metal framework restorations. The fracture toughness of the leucite free veneer was measured to be 0.73 MPa m ± 0.02 MPa m, which is less than that for the porcelain fused to metal (PFM) veneering ceramic: 1.10 MPa ± 0.2 MPa. (Uncertainties are one standard deviation unless otherwise noted.) The surface crack in flexure (SCF) method was suitable for both materials, but precrack identification was difficult for the leucite containing feldspathic porcelain PFM veneer.  相似文献

The seeds ofAlyogine hakeifolia, Alyogine huegelii,Gossypium australe, Hibiscus coatesii, Lawrencia viridigrisea andRadyera farragei (Malvaceae) contained 13.5-18.6% oil. Linoleic acid predominated (60.0-68.2%) in the component fatty acids of all the oils, followed by palmitic (9.9-18.1%) and oleic acids (7.8-15.8%). Cyclopropene fatty acids, malvalic and sterculic, were present in small concentrations (1.0-4.4%, 0.1-1.5% respectively). In the course of our search for new sources of oil, fatty acid compositions of the seed oils of 18 species belonging to three families are reported. Five species from Sterculiaceae, one species from Cucurbitaceae and twelve species from Sapindaceae were analysed. Linoleic acid predominated (43.4–76.2%) in the component fatty acids of all the oils followed by oleic (9.7–23.3%) and palmitic (8.4–14.7%) acids.  相似文献

A scale modeled discus data buoy was tested for its motion characteristics under the action of wave groups of different frequencies in a wave tank. The wave groups were theoretically simulated based on the methodology of Xu et al., (1993, Statistical simulation of wave groups, Applied Ocean Research, 15, 217–226) and then converted to paddle displacement signals to drive the wave maker. The motion responses of the buoy model were measured using potentiometers as well as with a non-contact motion tracking camera system. The details of the model, instrumentation, testing conditions and the analysis are presented. The displacement and wave elevation time histories were analysed through statistical, envelope, wavelet transform and phase-time approaches to detect the wave groupiness. The effect of groupiness parameters on the surge, heave and pitch motions of the buoy are detailed in this paper.  相似文献

Degradation due to electrical and optical stresses on organic semiconductor devices fabricated with imidazolin-5-one as an active layer is studied in this letter. It is found that while both electrical and optical stresses degrade device performance, the former leads to much faster degradation as compared with the latter. It is found that in electrical-stress degradation, the drop in current is a strong function of the charge flowing through the device during stress (charge fluence). For optical-stress degradation, it is strongly dependent on the duration of stress. It is also found that the input electrical and light energy during the stress may be annealing out some of the defects in the device and, hence, mitigating the degradation due to the applied stress.  相似文献

Pairs of immiscible elements with deep eutectics are used to synthesize periodic arrays of heterodimers and hollowed metal nanocrescents. In the devised route, substrate‐immobilized Au or Ag nanostructures act as heterogeneous nucleation sites for Ge adatoms. At elevated temperatures the adatoms collect in sufficient quantities to transform each site into a AuGe liquid alloy which, upon cooling, phase separates into elemental components sharing a common interface. The so‐formed Au‐Ge and Ag‐Ge heterodimers exhibit a complex morphology characterized by a noble metal nanocrescent which partially encapsulates one end of the Ge domain. Through the use of a selective etch the Ge component is removed, leaving behind a periodic array of hollow noble metal nanocrescents on the surface of the substrate. Optical characterization of both the heterodimers and nanocrescents indicates that the presence of Ge gives rise to a relative blue‐shift in the localized surface plasmon peak, a result that is in stark contrast to the red‐shifts typically observed when plasmonic nanostructures are in contact with a dielectric medium. Simulations are used to both rationalize the observed shift and show the potential for deriving unexpected behaviors when semishell‐like noble metal structures are in contact with high permittivity dielectric mediums.  相似文献

The contact zone and pressure distribution between two elastic plates joined by an elastic bolt and nut are estimated using finite element analysis. Smooth interfacial conditions are assumed in all the regions of contact. Eight node axisymmetric ring elements are used to model the structure. The matrix solution is obtained through frontal technique and this solution technique is shown to be very efficient for the iterative scheme adopted to determine the extent of contact. A parametric study is conducted varying the elastic properties of bolt and plate materials, bolt head diameter and thickness of the plates. The method of approach presented in this paper provides a solution with a realistic idealization of tension flange joints.  相似文献

Seed oils of Ricinocarpus bowmanii F Muell and Ricinocarpus tuberculatus Muell Arg (Euphorbiaceae) were found to contain 60.9 and 46.8% of a-eleostearic acid (cis-9, trans-1 1, trans-13-octadecatrienoic acid). a-Eleostearic acid was identijied and estimated by using a combination of spectroscopic and chromatographic analyses.  相似文献
