Several polyimide resins were tested as possible scratch resistant coatings for aluminosilicate glass centrifuge tubes. Tubes with siloxane pretreatments provided the best adhesion between the polyimide and glass surface. Resins synthesized with an alkoxysilane group incorporated into the polyimide chain also showed improved adhesion, but the results were not as significant as when the pretreatment was used. Elastic recovery and effective Young's modulus of the polyimide coatings were calculated from nano-scratching. The results indicate that polyimides with a lower modulus, and higher elastic recovery, protected the glass surface best, exhibiting compression of the coating layer. An example was poly-4-4'-oxydiphenylene pyromellitimide (PMDA-ODA), whereas the coatings with a high effective Young's modulus and low elastic recovery ruptured. An example of a failed coating was poly-4,4'-carbonyldiphenylene 3,3',4,4'-biphenylenetetracarboximide (BPDA-DABP) which had low amount of elastic recovery, high effective Young's modulus and a large amount of flaking during macroscratch testing.  相似文献

Heat conduction in an electronic device is commonly modeled as a discretized thermal system (e.g., finite element or finite difference models) that typically uses large matrices for solving complex problems. The large size of electronic-system heat transfer models can be reduced using model reduction methods and the resulting reduced-order models can yield accurate results with far less computational costs. Electronic devices are typically composed of components, like chips, printed circuit boards, and heat sinks that are coupled together. There are two ways of creating reduced-order models for devices that have many coupled components. The first way is to create a single reduced-order model of the entire device. The second way is to interconnect reduced-order models of the components that constitute the device. The second choice (which we call the "reduce then interconnect" approach) allows the heat transfer specialist to perform quick simulations of different architectures of the device by using a library of reduced-order models of the different components that make up the device. However, interconnecting reduced-order models in a straightforward manner can result in unstable behavior. The purpose of this paper is two-fold: creating reduced-order models of the components using a Krylov subspace algorithm and interconnecting the reduced-order models in a stable manner using concepts from control theory. In this paper, we explain the logic behind the "reduce then interconnect" approach, formulate a control-theoretic method for it, and finally exhibit the whole process numerically, by applying it to an example heat conduction problem  相似文献

Presents the Multicultural Counseling Inventory (MCI), a self-report instrument that measures multicultural counseling competencies. Study 1 comprised 604 psychology students, psychologists, and counselors in a midwestern state. In Study 2, respondents were a national random sample of 320 university counselors. Instrument analysis included exploratory principal-axis factor analysis with oblique rotation, assessment of factor congruence between the factor structures of the 2 samples, LISREL confirmatory factor analysis to test the relative goodness of fit of 6 competing factor models of the MCI, and tests of internal consistency reliabilities. Results indicate that the MCI has 4 factors: Multicultural Counseling Skills, Multicultural Awareness, Multicultural Counseling Relationship, and Multicultural Counseling Knowledge. McLemore.] Investigated the internalization of positive aspects of therapist–patient (TP) interactions among 70 patients and their 16 therapists who participated in a 5-yr study (H. H. Strupp et al, unpublished) of time-limited dynamic psychotherapy. Patients sought help for anxiety, depression, or other problems with a clear interpersonal component and qualified for an Axis I or Axis II diagnosis on the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders-III (DSM-III). Instruments included the Structural Analysis of Social Behavior and outcome measures of depression, anxiety, and psychological functioning. Patients' intrapsychic functioning became more similar to interpersonal activity in the TP relationship over the course of psychotherapy. Intrapsychic movement toward interpersonal activity in the TP relationship was associated with positive outcome on measures of depression, anxiety, and on independent clinician ratings of patient psychological functioning. We study analytically and numerically the interaction of vortices in current-carrying narrow superconducting strips. The characteristic time of vortex-antivortex pair annihilation and the energetic losses in the strip are evaluated as a function of the external transport current and width of the strip. The effects of an external magnetic field on the motion of a single vortex are discussed.  相似文献

The identification of targets in visual search arrays may be improved by suppressing competing information from the surrounding distractor items. The present study provided evidence that this hypothetical filtering process has a neural correlate, the N2pc component of the event-related potential waveform. The N2pc was observed when a target item was surrounded by competing distractor items but was absent when the array could be rejected as a nontarget on the basis of simple feature information. In addition, the N2pc was eliminated when filtering was discouraged by removing the distractor items, making the distractors relevant, or making all items within an array identical. Combined with previous topographic analyses, these results suggest that attentional filtering occurs in occipital cortex under the control of feedback from higher cortical regions after a preliminary feature-based analysis of the stimulus array. Manganese oxides having a tunnel structure (OMS-2) have been utilized as selective catalysts for alcohol oxidation. In this study manganese oxide catalysts were synthesized in different media and modified by exchanging the tunnel cation by H+, using acid treatment or exchanging with NH4+ followed by thermolysis. Various alcohol oxidations were performed using these catalysts to ascertain the influence of synthesis method on their activity. A correlation is made between lattice oxygen instability and activity of the catalysts, which indicates involvement of the lattice oxygen in the mechanism. The exchange of the tunnel cation with the smaller H+ ions leads to weakening of the Mn–O bond, as verified by temperature programmed desorption (TPD) results. Only the chemisorbed oxygen on the surface (O) and the lattice oxygen in the layers close to the surface is involved in the oxygen transfer during the reaction.  相似文献
