We have developed a simple reprocessing process for spent FBR fuels using N-cyclohexyl-2-pyrrolidone (NCP) which has selective precipitation ability for UO22+ ions. It was confirmed that NCP has sufficient precipitation ability for UO22+ ions, decontamination capability (separation of UO22+ from simulated fission products), and resistance to γ-ray radiation in nitric acid solutions. These findings indicate that NCP is applicable to our reprocessing process. We have also evaluated performances of other precipitants such as N-n-propyl-2-pyrrolidone (NProP), N-n-butyl-2-pyrrolidone (NBP), and N-n-butyl-2-pyridone (NBPyr). It was found that higher decontamination factors (DFs) are obtained by using NProP and NBP. This can be interpreted that the hydrophobicity of NProP and NBP is lower than that of NCP. Furthermore, we have obtained an experimental result that the resistance of NBPyr to γ-ray radiation is superior to that of NCP.  相似文献

The process of knowledge discovery in databases consists of several steps that are iterative and interactive. In each application, to go through this process the user has to exploit different algorithms and their settings that usually yield multiple models. Model selection, that is, the selection of appropriate models or algorithms to achieve such models, requires meta-knowledge of algorithm/model and model performance metrics. Therefore, model selection is usually a difficult task for the user. We believe that simplifying the process of model selection for the user is crucial to the success of real-life knowledge discovery activities. As opposed to most related work that aims to automate model selection, in our view model selection is a semiautomatic process, requiring an effective collaboration between the user and the discovery system. For such a collaboration, our solution is to give the user the ability to try various alternatives and to compare competing models quantitatively by performance metrics, and qualitatively by effective visualization. This paper presents our research on model selection and visualization in the development of a knowledge discovery system called D2MS. The paper addresses the motivation of model selection in knowledge discovery and related work, gives an overview of D2MS, and describes its solution to model selection and visualization. It then presents the usefulness of D2MS model selection in two case studies of discovering medical knowledge in hospital data—on meningitis and stomach cancer—using three data mining methods of decision trees, conceptual clustering, and rule induction.  相似文献

In recent years, the techniques improving sliding performances have progressed by using coated films possessing superior tribological properties, to reduce the failures of the mechanical elements. Those techniques are often used under severe conditions such as elastohydrodynamic lubrication (EHL). In this paper, numerical three-dimensional analysis of the maximum shear stress applied into the coated film and substrate under a single EHL operating condition was performed with a range of coated film thickness and elastic properties. The strength of coated film as one of those techniques was evaluated numerically, resulting in an optimum design of coated film. As a result, coated films with a larger value of thickness and a smaller modulus of elasticity than that of substrate are preferable.  相似文献

Lettuce and spinach are increasingly implicated in foodborne illness outbreaks due to contamination by Escherichia coli O157:H7. While this bacterium has been shown to colonize and survive on lettuce leaf surfaces, little is known about its interaction with the roots of growing lettuce plants. In these studies, a microarray analyses, mutant construction and confocal microscopy were used to gain an understanding of structure and function of bacterial genes involved in the colonization and growth of E. coli O157:H7 on lettuce roots. After three days of interaction with lettuce roots, 94 and 109 E. coli O157:H7 genes were significantly up- and down-regulated at least 1.5 fold, respectively. While genes involved in biofilm modulation (ycfR and ybiM) were significantly up-regulated, 40 of 109 (37%) of genes involved in protein synthesis were significantly repressed. E. coli O157:H7 was 2 logs less efficient in lettuce root colonization than was E. coli K12. We also unambiguously showed that a ΔycfR mutant of E. coli O157:H7 was unable to attach to or colonize lettuce roots. Taken together these results indicate that bacterial genes involved in attachment and biofilm formation are likely important for contamination of lettuce plants with Shiga toxin-producing E. coli strains.  相似文献

To design a consumer-oriented package that complements the taste and aroma of ready-to-drink chilled-cup coffee beverages by using the food kansei model, the effects of the diameter and the color of drinking straws as well as the cognition terms of coffee on consumer sensory characteristics and preferences were investigated. Variance and factor analyses of the sensory scores for chilled-cup coffee with milk and sugar using straws of different diameters, as rated by consumer panelists, extracted two perceived factors (F1, contribution ratio 36.5%, and F2, 28.6%). A two-dimensional plot of the average F1 and F2 scores of 123 panelists showed that the perceived characteristics of the same taste and aroma varied according to the straw diameter. An image investigation of different straw colors and another sensory evaluation using “black,” “brown,” and “green” straws were also performed. A principal component analysis of the image data revealed that the sensory characteristics of coffee with milk and sugar were imaged from the straw color. The second evaluation suggested that the images of straw colors affected the sensory characteristics. In addition, cluster and multiple-comparison analyses of Internet research data from consumers regarding the cognition terms for coffee exhibited three clusters representing the cognitive characteristics of terms by consumers and by developers and the differences of attractiveness degree on the cognition terms due to the consumers’ personal attributes. These studies provide useful information for the development of packages of chilled-cup coffee beverages.  相似文献

Novel digital circuits utilizing the chaotic oscillation and its associated oscillations produced in a Josephson junction (JJ) circuit are proposed, as an application of chaotic oscillations in JJ circuit. To begin with, what oscillation modes can be produced in a JJ circuit are described in detail. Next, a novel idea showing the possibility of digital circuits by use of chaotic oscillations is proposed. As an example, the fundamental digital circuits performing AND, NAND, Exclusive-OR, and so on are shown. The simulation results of these novel digital circuits show that reliable and high performance circuits can be realized by utilizing chaotic behavior. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

The oxidation behavior of iron binary powders with addition of Si (1, 4 wt.%) and B (1, 3 wt.%) and that of a Ni-Cr based alloy powder with Si (4.3 wt.%), B (3.0 wt.%), and C (0.8 wt.%) additions during atmosphere plasma spray (APS) have been investigated. Analysis of the chemical composition and phases of oxides in the captured in-flight particles and deposited coatings was carried out. The results show that the addition of Si and B to iron effectively reduced the oxygen contents in the coatings, especially during the in-flight period at higher particles temperature. Ni-Cr based alloy powder with Si, B, and C additions reduced the oxidation of the base alloys significantly. Preferential oxidation and subsequent vaporization of Si, B, and C from the surface of the sprayed particles are believed to play a major role in controlling oxidation in the APS process.  相似文献

Saliency is the ability of being important, noticeable or attention worthy. Finding salient regions in images has important applications in automatic image cropping, image compression and advertisements. The salient regions for an individual in an image changes according to their gender, race, culture, likes, dislikes and experiences. Universal Saliency Maps point out the overall general salient regions without any considerations of personal traits of the subject. Therefore, personalized saliency maps are required for better and more personalized predictions of salient regions. In this study, using the RGB (Red, Green, Blue), CYMK (Cyan, Yellow, Magenta, Key), HSV (Hue, Saturation, Value) and HSL (Hue, Saturation, Lightness) fixation patterns of individuals, we propose a Gradient Boosted Tree Regression model to extract personalized saliency map from the universal saliency map with an average accuracy of 80% (Area Under Curve Judd Metrics). We also put forth our discussion for why some images and subjects have better saliency map predictions than others.

A novel quantitative and specific method for detection of buckwheat, a known food allergen, in diverse food materials was developed by using a unique internal standard to compensate for the variability in DNA extraction and amplification efficiencies. The method was based on a real-time PCR targeting the internal transcribed spacer region of Fagopyrum spp. and was designed to detect both cultivated and wild buckwheat, because wild buckwheat might be potentially allergenic. As the internal standard material, ground seeds of statice (Limonium sinuatum) were added to food samples prior to DNA extraction, and the amount of statice DNA measured by real-time PCR was used to standardize the buckwheat content. Statice, an ornamental plant, was chosen as the internal standard material because it was readily available and was inferred to be least likely to be commingled in foods. The specificity of the PCR system was tested against commonly used food materials of plant origin. Quantitative results expressed in buckwheat protein concentrations (mean +/- standard deviation) for various food samples prepared to contain 10 ppm (wt/wt) of buckwheat flour (corresponding to 1.2-microg/g [ppm] buckwheat protein) ranged from 0.7 +/- 0.2 (rice) to 0.9 +/- 0.4 (wheat) and for 100-ppm (wt/wt) samples (12-microg/g [ppm] buckwheat protein) from 7.7 +/- 1.0 (pepper) to 9.8 +/- 0.5 (wheat) microg/g (ppm). The method's accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity were considered sufficient for detection of buckwheat contamination at the level required for compliance with the Japanese Food Allergen Labeling Regulation.  相似文献
