Towards Analyzing and Synthesizing Protocols   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
The production of error-free protocols or complex process interactions is essential to reliable communications. This paper presents techniques for both the detection of errors in protocols and for prevention of errors in their design. The methods have been used successfully to detect and correct errors in existing protocols. A technique based on a reachability analysis is described which detects errors m a design. This "perturbation technique" has been implemented and has successfully detected inconsistencies or errors in existing protocol designs including both X.21 and X.25. The types of errors handled are state deadlocks, unspecified receptions, nonexecutable interactions, and state smbiguities. These errors are discussed and their effects considered. An interactive design technique is then described that prevents design errors. The technique is based on a set of production rules which guarantee that complete reception capability is provided in the interacting processes. These rules have been implemented in the form of a tracking algorithm that prevents a designer from creating unspecified receptions and nonexecutable interactions and monitors for the presence of state deadlocks and ambiguities.  相似文献

Pipe fabrication for the repair sector. The paper discusses the changes in pipe fabrication that have taken place in recent years. These enable repair work to be carried out more efficiently, without thereby impairing the flexibility and speed of operation that are essential to maintenance work. A prerequisite for this is that work on the pipes be transferred to workshops. Only here is it possible for manual operations, such as manual welding, to be reduced to a minimum and be replaced by mechanized or semi-mechanized welding methods. The use of modern machines for bending the pipes is more economic than the welding in of pipe bends. Necking out of the pipes by mechanical means or the use of mechanically pre-fabricated connections permit optimum preparation of the weld seam for branch fittings. Any additional work on the pipes, where this is necessary, is carried out at workplaces specially designed for the purpose.  相似文献

Two phenolic acids were identified in the collembolan Ceratophysella denticulata: 3-hydroxy-4,5 dimethoxy benzoic acid and 4-hydroxy-3,5-dimethoxybenzoic acid (syringic acid). These are localized on or in the integument of the springtail, in field-collected animals, in a ratio of 47:100 (v/v). Springtails kept under different temperature regimes showed differences in production and ratio of the benzoic acid derivatives. At 20 degrees C, C. denticulata produced only syringic acid, whereas at 10 degrees C both isomers in a ratio of 100:61 (v/v) were detected. Bioassays with C. denticulata as well as with the specialized collembolan predator Stenus comma (Staphylinidae) were carried out. Staphylinid beetles topically treated with the acids try to clean their mouthparts by rubbing them on the ground significantly more often than do control beetles. Both compounds individually and as a natural mixture have deterrent effects towards the predator S. comma.  相似文献

The analysis of technological developments for purposes like technological forecasting through the use of leading indicators or ex post evaluation of science and technology oriented policies, nearly always lead to the evaluation of patent statistics.From these the authors established indicators of technological development using numbers of patents applied for or granted worldwide, thus preventing sampling and weighting errors. Account was taken of the effect of patent families as well as connections between technological developments in different fields. Furthermore, methods were established to identify areas with important technological developments.The final part of the paper shows the first results of application of these methods to the comparison of international patenting activities in selected fields.  相似文献

Electromagnetic field problems are often formulated as boundary value problems in unbounded regions. For this reason, the application of conventional numerical methods, such as the finite element method, is difficult. The paper describes a new technique to circumvent this difficulty. The technique is based on the reduction of the field equations in unbounded space to equivalent boundary Galerkin's criterion. Such criterion can be combined with the volume Galerkin's criterion for regions occupied by conductors. A new quasi-finite-element discretization based on the coupled boundary/volume Galerkin's criterion is presented.  相似文献

Techniques for modeling and simulating channel conditions play an essential role in understanding network protocol and application behavior. In [11], we demonstrated that inaccurate modeling using a traditional analytical model yielded suboptimal error control protocol parameters choices. In this paper, we demonstrate that time-varying effects on wireless channels result in wireless traces which exhibit non-stationary behavior over small window sizes. We then present an algorithm that extracts stationary components from a collected trace in order to provide analytical channel models that, relative to traditional approaches, more accurately represent characteristics such as burstiness, statistical distribution of errors, and packet loss processes. Our algorithm also generates artificial traces with the same statistical characteristics as actual collected network traces. For validation, we develop a channel model for the circuit-switched data service in GSM and show that it: (1) more closely approximates GSM channel characteristics than traditional Markov models and (2) generates artificial traces that closely match collected traces' statistics. Using these traces in a simulator environment enables future protocol and application testing under different controlled and repeatable conditions.  相似文献
