The synthesis of a single‐layer covalent organic framework (COF) with spatially modulated internal potentials provides new opportunities for manipulating the electronic structure of molecularly defined materials. Here, the fabrication and electronic characterization of COF‐420: a single‐layer porphyrin‐based square‐lattice COF containing a periodic array of oriented, type II electronic heterojunctions is reported. In contrast to previous donor–acceptor COFs, COF‐420 is constructed from building blocks that yield identical cores upon reticulation, but that are bridged by electrically asymmetric linkers supporting oriented electronic dipoles. Scanning tunneling spectroscopy reveals staggered gap (type II) band alignment between adjacent molecular cores in COF‐420, in agreement with first‐principles calculations. Hirshfeld charge analysis indicates that dipole fields from oriented imine linkages within COF‐420 are the main cause of the staggered electronic structure in this square grid of atomically–precise heterojunctions.  相似文献

The discovery of new antibiotic adjuvants is an attractive option for overcoming antimicrobial resistance. We have previously reported the discovery of a bis-6-bromoindolglyoxylamide derivative of spermine as being able to enhance the action of antibiotics against Gram-negative bacteria but suffers from being cytotoxic and red-blood cell haemolytic. A series of analogues was prepared exploring variation of the indolglyoxylamide unit, to include indole-3-acrylic, indole-3-acetic and indole-3-carboxylate units, and evaluated for antibiotic enhancing properties against a range of Gram-negative bacteria, and for intrinsic antimicrobial, cytotoxic and haemolytic properties. Two spermine derivatives, bearing 5-bromo-indole-3-acetic acid ( 17 ) and 5-methoxy-indole-3-acrylic acid ( 14 ) end groups were found to exhibit good to moderate antibiotic adjuvant activities for doxycycline towards the Gram-negative bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae, but with more modest intrinsic antimicrobial activity and greatly reduced cytotoxic and haemolytic properties. The mechanism of action of the latter derivative identified its ability to disrupt the outer membranes of bacteria and to inhibit the AcrAB-TolC efflux pump directly or by inhibiting the proton gradient.  相似文献

Tuberculosis (TB) is currently the leading cause of death related to infectious diseases worldwide, as reported by the World Health Organization. Moreover, the increasing number of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) cases has alarmed health agencies, warranting extensive efforts to discover novel drugs that are effective and also safe. In this study, 23 new compounds were synthesized and evaluated in vitro against the drug-resistant strains of M. tuberculosis. The compound 6-((3-fluoro-4-thiomorpholinophenyl)carbamoyl)benzo[c][1,2,5]oxadiazole 1-N-oxide ( 5 b ) was particularly remarkable in this regard as it demonstrated MIC90 values below 0.28 μM against all the MDR strains evaluated, thus suggesting that this compound might have a different mechanism of action. Benzofuroxans are an attractive new class of anti-TB agents, exemplified by compound 5 b , with excellent potency against the replicating and drug-resistant strains of M. tuberculosis.  相似文献

The aim of this article is to investigate the optical properties of a recycled polymer during numerous processes. The effects of different process parameters (number of grinding‐injection cycles, material temperature, mold temperature, and injection rate) on gloss and color properties of a buff‐colored polypropylene containing 2wt%/wt of pigment was considered. The variations of properties are in the same range that is observed by changing processing parameters. It is found that the roughness is not able to explicate the variation of the optical properties for these variations of conditions. In addition, the optical properties of the skin layer of the injected parts are associated with the observed gloss and color variations. In practice, the voltage of a hydrogen–oxygen fuel cell is around 1 V at open circuit and from 0.6 V to 0.7 V at full rated load and it can be considered as a low-voltage energy source. Moreover, preliminary investigations undertaken on a single proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) highlighted its behavior as a DC current source, that can be directly controlled by the H2 flow rate when the operating point is at very low voltage. In this paper, we present an innovative application of PEMFC that relies on taking advantage of both low voltage level and current source operating mode to feed a high inductive superconducting coil. Such a coil has no resistance and among others, is very sensitive to current ripples. Thus, specific power supplies are designed to feed them but they exhibit in most cases a huge volume and/or a low energy yield. Connecting a superconducting coil to a PEMFC implies to operate in short-circuit, which is an unusual use of PEMFC. To this end, requirements of such an application are defined, by making use of a PEMFC electrical model based on a 1D analog representation of mass transport phenomena. This model, that enables to take into account the influence of gas supply conditions, notably diffusion limit operation, is directly implemented in a standard simulation software used in electrical engineering. Then, simulation results and experimental results obtained by supplying a 10 H superconducting coil cooled by liquid helium by means of a single 100 cm2 PEMFC are compared and discussed.  相似文献
