This article describes the development of a superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID)-based system for nondestructive evaluation. The setup incorporates an in-house developed thin-film-based Nb SQUID with readout flux locked loop electronics and consists of a liquid helium cryostat with adjustable stand-off distance, a precision XY- thetas scanner for studying both flat and cylindrical samples, and a data acquisition system. The system has been used for the detection of artificially engineered subsurface defects in aluminum plates and to track magnetic-to-nonmagnetic phase transformation in stainless steel [grade 316L(N)] weldment specimens subjected to low cycle fatigue deformation. 相似文献

Abstract The most common way of generating correlated photons is by parametric down-conversion in a nonlinear crystal in free space. However, a drawback of this technique is the extremely low photon flux available. We present a simple analysis which shows that cavity-enhanced parametric downconversion, using an arrangement similar to an optical parametric oscillator and operated well below threshold, can yield a substantially higher photon flux without significantly degrading the correlation between photons. 相似文献

Abstract Interferometric profilers suffer from phase ambiguities if the measurement range involves a change in the optical path difference greater than a wavelength. This limitation has been overcome by using white light and scanning the object in height. We show how an achromatic phase shifter operating on the geometric phase can be used to evaluate the fringe contrast directly and to locate the position of the zero-order white-light fringe along the scanning axis. 相似文献

The objective of this work was to investigate potential interactions between anionic (Eudragit FS) and cationic (Eudragit RL) polymethacrylates of multiple coatings of a novel colonic drug delivery system. Aqueous films of pure polymers Eudragit FS (FS) and Eudragit RL (RL) and their superimposedfilm (FS-RL) were cast on glass slabs. The potential ionic interactions were studied by analysing the dried films using differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). The glass transition temperatures (Tg) of pure RL and FS were 60 degrees C and 22 degrees C, respectively; FS-RL showed two distinct glass transitions at 59 degrees C and 24 degrees C in the second heating cycle. In the 13C-MAS spectra of the samples in the solid state, no shifts of the resonance could be detected in the superimposed film compared with the pure polymers. The FT-IR spectra of the superimposed film did not show any significant shift of the bands of the -NMe3+ group of RL and the -COO- function of FS compared with the spectra of the pure polymers. No ionic interactions between anionic and cationic polymethacrylates were revealed by DSC, FT-IR, and NMR. 相似文献

A new method has been proposed in which the controller is approximated by two low order models, the second being the sensitivity model of the first. Thus a Kind of piecewise solution is proposed in which the system retains the same order irrespective of the number of parameters to be considered for low sensitivity design. The usefulness of the proposed technique is illustrated in the controller design for a direct cycle BWR power plant of 457 MW(thermal) with recirculation control. The mathematical model includes the reactor kinetics, hydrodynamics of the recirculation loop, pressure transients, and the load frequency control system. The response of system variables such as frequency, neutron power, and reactor pressure are plotted with the low sensitivitty controller. The sensitivity function of frequency has been plotted using the conventional and proposed low sensitivity controller for 20 per cent variation in parameter values.
