The corrosion inhibition of Cu-Ni alloys was investigated in aqueous chloride solutions using amino acids as environmentally safe materials. The corrosion rate was calculated in absence and presence of the corrosion inhibitor using polarization and impedance techniques. The inhibition efficiency of the different amino acids was also calculated.The experimental results have shown that a simple amino acid like glycine can be used as efficient corrosion inhibitor for the Cu-Ni alloys in neutral chloride solutions. An inhibition efficiency of about 85% could be achieved at very low concentrations of the amino acid (0.1 mM). For low Ni content alloy (Cu-5Ni), 2.0 mM cysteine shows a remarkable high (∼96%) corrosion inhibition efficiency. The experimental impedance data were fitted to theoretical data according to a proposed equivalent circuit model for the electrode/electrolyte interface, and the mechanism of the corrosion inhibition process was suggested. Different adsorption isotherms were tested and the corrosion inhibition process was found to depend on the adsorption of the amino acid molecules and/or the deposition of corrosion products on the alloy surface. The adsorption free energy of cysteine on Cu-5Ni (−37.81 kJ mol−1) reveals a strong physical adsorption of the inhibitor on the alloy surface. 相似文献

The present numerical study concentrates on the effects of moderate and high Reynolds numbers on the laminar flow of a non-Newtonian rigid viscoplastic (Bingham) fluid through a sudden contraction in a pipe. The flow is assumed to be steady, incompressible, and isothermal. Results are presented for a wide range of the governing Reynolds and yield numbers and the significant effects of these two parameters both on the integral and local kinematic properties of the flow field are established. Low yield numbers result in the disappearance of the recirculating flow region at the corner replacing it with a region of very low rates of deformation. The evolution of the centerline velocity in the vicinity of the contraction plane is shown to be independent of the yield number and dependent on the Reynolds number, while the concavities in the streamwise velocity profiles appearing at high Reynolds numbers are independent of the yield number. The pressure losses through the contraction increase with yield number with the effect being more pronounced at lower Reynolds numbers. 相似文献

During continuous flow of solid-liquid mixtures, the solids may be oriented in a variety of directions relative to the flow axis. The character of the distribution takes on particular importance when materials are processed using electric fields. In this study, solids orientation distributions in continuous, vertical upflow was investigated experimentally combining particle tracking velocimetry. Cylindrical solids showed a more pronounced tendency than cubes to align along the flow direction; this tendency was even greater for elongated cylindrical objects. Solids orientation is influenced by the principal orienting factor (shear flow) and the randomizing factor (orientations of other solids in the mixture). Increasing flow rate tends to drag objects towards their equilibrium (aligned orientation) until they are restricted from further rotation by the presence of other solids. Orientations of cubes were more widely distributed than cylinders, without sharp peaks. The orienting effects of flow rate were also observed for cubes. High solids concentration and larger solids tend to restrict rotation, thus the initial distribution may be maintained through the flow length. 相似文献

Bromate / cyclohexanone redox system was investigated as a novel initiator for graft copolymerization of N-vinyl formamide
onto pregelled starch. A number of variables in the grafting reaction were investigated including N-vinyl formamide, cyclohexanone,
bromate ion, sulphuric acid and pregelled starch concentrations, material to liquor ratio along with polymerization time and
temperature. The graft copolymers were evaluated in terms of graft yield, graft reaction efficiency and homopolymer formation
(%). The optimum conditions for grafting of N-vinyl formamide onto pregelled starch are: N-vinyl formamide 50% based on weight
of substrate, cyclohexanone 15 mmol / l, bromate ion, 30 mmol / l, liquor ratio 10, pH 6, time 120 min., and temperature 40°C.
On the other hand, characterizations of the resultant copolymers with respect to swelling capacity, solubility %, metal ion
up-take and suitability as a sizing agent for cotton textiles were investigated. The results obtained reflect that, the resultant
copolymer shows better results for the aforementioned properties in comparison with that obtained from native pregelled starch

A numerical investigation has been performed two-dimensional slot impingement onto two heated cylinders with different diameters turbulent flow conditions. Height of slot jet is taken as constant for all cases. The study is performed to see the effects of effective parameters on heat and fluid flow as jet Reynolds number (11,000 ≤ Re ≤ 20,000), diameter ratio of cylinders (0.5 ≤ D1/D2 ≤ 1.5) and ratio of distance between cylinders to slot jet high (L/S). Streamlines, isotherms, local and mean Nusselt numbers and Cd coefficient were obtained. These results were compared with earlier experimental and numerical works and good agreement was obtained. One of the major issues in LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) systems is the poor capacity at the cell edge. This is mainly due to the interference experienced by the users as a result of the aggressive frequency reuse usually implemented. Relaying offers an attractive solution for this problem by offering better links than those with the eNodeB (eNB) for the terminals suffering from high path loss or high interference. However, adding relays complicates the resource allocation problem at the eNB and therefore the need for more efficient schemes arises. This is also aggravated by the reuse of resource blocks (RBs) by the relays to fully exploit the scarce spectrum, which, in turn, leads to intra-cell interference. In this paper, we study the joint power and resource allocation problem in LTE-A relay-enhanced cells that exploit spatial reuse. To guarantee fairness among users, a max–min fair optimization objective is used. This complex problem is solved using coordinate ascent and the difference of two convex functions (DC) programming techniques and the proposed scheme indeed converges to a local-optimum quickly. This is shown to be a satisfactory solution according to the simulation results that indicate an almost sevenfold increase in the 10th percentile capacity when compared to previously proposed solutions. 相似文献

This paper proposes a system to detect and measure blink rate to determine fatigue levels. The method involved analysing specific frames to determine that a blink occurred, and then monitoring the time between successive blinks. The program was simulated in python using a Raspberry Pi Zero and a standard USB camera. For the blink rate detection block, a gate level schematic was implemented in Cadence software using 65 nm CMOS technology. The design was based around an asynchronous 6-bit based edge counter which was designed using D-flip-flops. The simulation calculated the average blink rate and compared this to the most recent blink rate. The outcome would determine if an alarm signal should be sent to the alarm. Path finding problem has a broad application in different fields of engineering. Travel time uncertainty is a critical factor affecting this problem and the route choice of transportation users. The major downside of the existing algorithms for the reliable path finding problem is their inefficiency in computational time. This study aims to develop a network contraction approach to reduce the network size of each specific origin and destination (OD) pair in stochastic time‐dependent networks. The network contraction is based on the comparison of optimistic and pessimistic solutions resulting from minimum and maximum travel time realizations of a Monte‐Carlo simulation (MCS)‐based approach. In this respect, the researchers propose a learning approach to utilize the information of the realizations in the initial iterations of the MCS approach. Implementation of this approach is in place for several OD pairs of two real‐world large‐scale applications. First, it is calibrated for the Chicago downtown network; the performance and accuracy of the proposed approach are investigated by comparing the results against that of the approach without any network contraction. In addition, the Salt Lake City network illustrates the transferability of the approach to other networks. The results demonstrate significant computational improvements, with an acceptable accuracy level relative to the approach without network contraction. 相似文献

The race between the development of technologies and energy demand has drawn the guidelines of energy strategies for the next two decades. Indeed, the governmental organizations as well as the private sectors are spending huge effort to come up with new adequate strategies that allow to decrease energy consumption. Having said that, heat pump becomes an essential system in our daily life not only in residential building but also in hospital, industrial and touristic building. Nonetheless, (HP)s have very high energy consumption rate. Thus, and to be in line with the new trends in energy strategies, it is convenient to find new methods to enhance the performance of heat pump in order to reduce energy consumption. In this frame, the present paper suggests an approach to enhance the performance the heat pumps using the heat recovery from generators. For this purpose, an in-house code is developed allowing to simulate two new proposed systems (condenser upstream exhaust gases heat recovery system (CU-EGHRS) and condenser downstream exhaust gases heat recovery system (CD-EGHRS). It has been shown that the increase in the performance of the heat pump depends on the capacity of the generator. Also, the CD-EGHRS is shown to be the best. For instance, in the case of a 15 kVA generator, the enhancement could reach 42% for the CD-EGHRS. This enhancement increases to 5640% in the case of a 180 kVA generator. 相似文献
