The research aimed to test the hypothesis that near infrared reflectance (NIR) scans could detect surface characteristics associated with uneven coloring before staining red alder (Alnus rubra Bong), cherry (Prunus sp.), pine (Pinus sp.) and maple (Acer sp.) boards. NIR spectra were successfully correlated with average scanned area data of grain angle, density, pre- and post-staining 8-bit color values, and the difference in color induced by staining when combinations of either three, two or one of the tested wood species were used as input parameters. Difficulties were encountered when both cherry and maple were clustered together with the other two species in a generalized model, however, when both were excluded, the model produced very high R2 values (over 0.98).  相似文献

Summary A series of polyphosphonates were synthesized by base promoted liquid-vapor interfacial polycondensation of various alkyl (aryl) phosphonic dichlorides (methylphosphonic dichloride (MPD), cyclohexylphosphonic dichloride (CPD) and phenylphosphonic dichloride (PPD)) with different bisphenols (hydroquinone (HQ), bisphenol A (BA), 4,4 - biphenol (BP), 1,5-naphtalenediol (ND) and 4,4 - sulfonyldiphenol (SD)). The polyphosphonates were characterized by infrared (IR) and proton magnetic resonance (1H-NMR) spectroscopy. Yields in the range of 20–80% and Mn of ∼ 8500–35000 were obtained. DSC measurements show Tg in the range 95°–148°C. These polymers are soluble in solvents such as N,N-dimethylformamide, tetrahydrofuran and chloroform. This paper discusses the optimal coding of uniformly quantized Laplacian sources. The techniques known for designing optimal codes for sources with infinite alphabets are used for the quantized Laplacian sources which have probability mass functions with two geometrically decaying tails. Due to the simple parametric model of the source distribution the Huffman iterations are possible to be carried on analytically, using the concept of reduced source, and the final codes are obtained as a sequence of very simple arithmetic operations, avoiding the need to store coding tables. Comparing three uniform quantizers, we find one which consistently outperforms the others in the rate-distortion sense. We foresee for the newly introduced codes an important area of applications in low complexity lossy image coding, since similar codes, designed for two-sided geometrical sources, became the basic tools used in JPEG-LS lossless image compression.  相似文献

The paper presents a dielectrophoretic chip, fully enclosed, with bulk silicon electrodes fabricated using wafer-to-wafer bonding techniques and packaged at the wafer level. The silicon electrodes, which are bonded to two glass dies, define in the same time the walls of the microfluidic channel. The device is fabricated from a silicon wafer that is bonded (at wafer level) anodically and using SU8 photoresist between two glass wafers. The first glass die includes drilled holes for inlet/outlet connections while the second glass die assure the electrical connections, through via holes and a metallization layer, between the silicon electrodes and a printing circuit board.

Summary The synthesis of copolymers functionalized with phosphonate groups, incorporation of them into ordered meso-macroporous silica, characterization and evaluation of the obtained materials as catalysts in oxidation of cyclohexene are presented. Over the years, natural-based scaffolds have presented impressive results for bone tissue engineering (BTE) application. Further, outstanding interactions have been observed during the interaction of graphene oxide (GO)-reinforced biomaterials with both specific cell cultures and injured bone during in vivo experimental conditions. This research hereby addresses the potential of fish gelatin/chitosan (GCs) hybrids reinforced with GO to support in vitro osteogenic differentiation and, further, to investigate its behavior when implanted ectopically. Standard GCs formulation was referenced against genipin (Gp) crosslinked blend and 0.5 wt.% additivated GO composite (GCsGp/GO 0.5 wt.%). Pre-osteoblasts were put in contact with these composites and induced to differentiate in vitro towards mature osteoblasts for 28 days. Specific bone makers were investigated by qPCR and immunolabeling. Next, CD1 mice models were used to assess de novo osteogenic potential by ectopic implantation in the subcutaneous dorsum pocket of the animals. After 4 weeks, alkaline phosphate (ALP) and calcium deposits together with collagen synthesis were investigated by biochemical analysis and histology, respectively. Further, ex vivo materials were studied after surgery regarding biomineralization and morphological changes by means of qualitative and quantitative methods. Furthermore, X-ray diffraction and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy underlined the newly fashioned material structuration by virtue of mineralized extracellular matrix. Specific bone markers determination stressed the osteogenic phenotype of the cells populating the material in vitro and successfully differentiated towards mature bone cells. In vivo results of specific histological staining assays highlighted collagen formation and calcium deposits, which were further validated by micro-CT. It was observed that the addition of 0.5 wt.% GO had an overall significant positive effect on both in vitro differentiation and in vivo bone cell recruitment in the subcutaneous region. These data support the GO bioactivity in osteogenesis mechanisms as being self-sufficient to elevate osteoblast differentiation and bone formation in ectopic sites while lacking the most common osteoinductive agents.  相似文献
