The magnetic characteristics of iron phthalocyanine thin films are studied with a vibrating sample magnetometer, identifying a ferromagnetic transition temperature at 4.5?K. The metal ions at the center of the molecule are self-assembled along chains producing quasi one-dimensional magnetic chains of variable length in the thin films. The average chain length is varied from 20 to 300?nm via substrate temperature during deposition. Below the critical transition temperature, the magnetization curves have the shape of wasp-waisted or constricted loops. The in-plane chain length modulates the coercivity and saturation field and larger grains increase the coercivity significantly. First-order reversal curves of the wasp-waisted hysteresis loops reveal a long narrow strip that suggests a broad distribution of coercive fields and weak intergrain magnetic interactions. These findings are also supported through simulations based on the Preisach model.  相似文献

Partner selection is an important aspect of all outsourcing processes. Traditional partner selection typically involves steps to determine the criteria for outsourcing, followed by a qualification of potential suppliers and concluding with a final selection of partner(s). Reverse auctions (RAs) have widely been used for partner selection in recent times. However, RAs, although proven successful in initial price reduction strategies for product and service provision, can suffer from reduced effectiveness as the number of executions increases.This paper illustrates Dell’s experience of such diminishing returns for its outsourced after sales product repair service and presents the development of a new partner selection methodology, which incorporates a new process improvement stage to be executed in combination with the final selection phase. This new methodology is underpinned by the development of a computer based simulation supply partner selection decision support tool for service provision. The paper highlights the significant additional cost saving benefits and improvement in service achievable through the use of advanced simulation based decision supports.  相似文献

In the fluidised bed granulation process the effect of nozzle air pressure and binder spray rate on key aggregate quality attributes were studied. The experimental results show that a decrease in nozzle air pressure leads to larger mean granule size. The combination of lowest nozzle air pressure and lowest binder spray rate results in granules with the highest levels of hardness and crispness. The combination of low nozzle air pressure and low binder spray rate results in the least distribution span. Granola hardness was affected by nozzle air pressure. Nozzle air pressure and binder spray rate did not have significant effect on crispness.  相似文献

A designer should be able to express their intentions with a design tool. This work describes a methodology that enables the architect to directly interact with the encoding of designs they find aesthetically pleasing. Broadening interaction beyond simple evaluation increases the amount of feedback and bias a user can apply to the search. Increased feedback will have the effect of directing the algorithm to more fruitful areas of the search space. We conduct trials on two interfaces for making localised changes to a design in order to evaluate if the user is capable of directing search. In addition, an examination of the locality of changes made by the users provides an insight into how they explore the search space. The results show that a suitably designed interface is capable of directing search and that the participants used different magnitudes of change during directed search.  相似文献

For photovoltaic (PV) technology to play an increasing role in the utility sector at its present price, the technology needs to be developed in a manner that is consistent with, and takes advantage of, the economics of the demand-side management (DSM) market. High-value applications in this direction are for photovoltaics to perform a DSM function either as a direct load control (DLC) device or as a peak-shaving option, which has the effect of raising the end-use efficiency of customers' electrical equipment. This paper describes two PV-DSM applications involving a water heater and an air conditioner studied at a residential PV test facility, Solar One House, located on the campus of the University of Delaware. A single 55-W PV module directly connected to an electric water heater was found to offset standby and mixing losses, resulting in a 2°C increase in water temperature at the end of the afternoon compared to the standard DLC (grid-disconnected) case. A conservatively sized PV array without storage could meet the house air-conditioning load over 97% of the time from noon to 3 p.m., but only 69% from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. If a PV system is combined with an air-conditioning cycling program, success rates for supply of an air-conditioning load are greatly increased, meeting almost 100% of the load between noon and 3 p.m. and 85% during 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Furthermore, our results suggest that a modest-size PV array with storage could significantly shave peak air-conditioning loads during 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., thus reducing the peak demand faced by a utility. Preliminary analyses support the economic compatibility of a PV system as a DLC device or a peak-shaving tool.  相似文献

Although rare, inherited retinal degenerations (IRDs) are the most common reason for blind registration in the working age population. They are highly genetically heterogeneous (>300 known genetic loci), and confirmation of a molecular diagnosis is a prerequisite for many therapeutic clinical trials and approved treatments. First-tier genetic testing of IRDs with panel-based next-generation sequencing (pNGS) has a diagnostic yield of ≈70–80%, leaving the remaining more challenging cases to be resolved by second-tier testing methods. This study describes the phenotypic reassessment of patients with a negative result from first-tier pNGS and the rationale, outcomes, and cost of second-tier genetic testing approaches. Removing non-IRD cases from consideration and utilizing case-appropriate second-tier genetic testing techniques, we genetically resolved 56% of previously unresolved pedigrees, bringing the overall resolve rate to 92% (388/423). At present, pNGS remains the most cost-effective first-tier approach for the molecular assessment of diverse IRD populations Second-tier genetic testing should be guided by clinical (i.e., reassessment, multimodal imaging, electrophysiology), and genetic (i.e., single alleles in autosomal recessive disease) indications to achieve a genetic diagnosis in the most cost-effective manner.  相似文献

The heat pump for simultaneous heating and cooling (HPS) carries out space heating, space cooling and hot water production for small office and residential buildings. It works under heating, cooling and simultaneous modes to produce hot and chilled water according to the thermal demand of the building. A subcooler connected to a water tank is placed after the condenser to recover some energy by subcooling of the refrigerant during a heating mode. The water loop at a higher temperature than ambient air is used subsequently as a source for a water evaporator. Average winter performance is improved compared to a standard reversible heat pump (HP). The air evaporator is defrosted by a two-phase thermosiphon without stopping the heat production. The operation of the HPS is modelled using TRNSYS software. The model is validated using results of an experimental study carried out on a HPS prototype working with R407C. Annual simulations of the HPS coupled to a hotel are run in order to evaluate annual performance and energy consumption of the system. The results are compared to the ones of a standard reversible HP. Depending on the scenario, savings in electric energy consumption and annual performance improvement can reach respectively 55% and 19%.  相似文献

A graphite electrode and a stainless steel electrode immersed in exactly the same medium and polarised at the same potential were colonised by different microbial biofilms. This difference in electroactive microbial population leads stainless steel and graphite to become a microbial cathode and a microbial anode respectively. The results demonstrated that the electrode material can drive the electrocatalytic property of the biofilm opening perspectives for designing single medium MFC.This new discovery led to of the first demonstration of a “single medium MFC.” Such a single medium MFC designed with a graphite anode connected to a stainless steel cathode, both buried in marine sediments, produced 280 mA m?2 at a voltage of 0.3 V for more than 2 weeks.  相似文献

This article presents the concepts of an air-source heat pump for simultaneous heating and cooling (HPS) designed for hotels and smaller residential, commercial and office buildings in which simultaneous needs in heating and cooling are frequent. The main advantage of the HPS is to carry out simultaneously space heating and space cooling with the same energy input. Ambient air is used as a balancing source to run a heating or a cooling mode. The second advantage is that, during winter, energy recovered by the subcooling of the refrigerant is stored at first in a water tank and used subsequently as a cold source at the water evaporator to improve the average performance and to carry out defrosting of the air evaporator using a two-phase thermosiphon. Unlike conventional air-source heat pumps, defrosting is carried out without stopping the heat production. A R407C HPS prototype was built and tested. The basic concepts of the HPS are detailed in part1 of this article [1]. Its performance on defined operating conditions corresponds to the data given by the selection software of the compressor manufacturer. In the present part of this article, the operation of the high pressure control system, the transitions between heating, cooling and simultaneous modes and the defrosting sequence are analysed and validated experimentally.  相似文献
