The molecular dynamics of polystyrene/tetramethyl polycarbonate (PS/TMPC) blends were investigated using dielectric spectroscopy in the frequency and temperature ranges 10?2?107 Hz and 50–220°C, respectively. Blends with different compositions, namely 12.5, 25, 50, 75 and 87.5 wt% PS/TMPC were found to be compatible over the entire composition range and showed one glass relaxation process corresponding with the transition observed by calorimetric measurements. It was found that neither the kinetics or the distribution of relaxation times of the local process observed in pure TMPC were affected by blending. This fact implies that the local environment of the segments is not changed upon blending. Furthermore, these blends showed that the blending of TMPC with weakly polar polystyrene does not cause any change in the dipolar interaction of the TMPC segments, so that the relaxation strength varies linearly with composition. It is concluded that the polymeric chains of the TMPC and PS are not mixed at a segmental level, but at a higher structural level lying somewhere between segmental and molecular. This conclusion is in good agreement with that obtained in the case of blends composed of polymers with similar molecular architecture.  相似文献

Linseed oil fatty acids were epoxidized by peracetic acid, then reacted with diethanolamine to give epoxidized hydroxy ethyl linseed oil fatty acid amide ( I ). This amide was rejected with toluene diisocyanate to produce epoxidized polyurethane-amide ( II ). Component I was also reacted with phthalic anhydride to give epoxidized polyesteramide ( III ). Resins II and III were evaluated as coating materials. The results obtained were compared with commercial epoxy resin, and show that resins II and III may be suitable to use as petroleum pipeline coatings.  相似文献

The straight run naphtha and kerosene fractions of Saudi Arabian Light crude oil were analyzed for paraffins, olefins, naphthenes and aromatics (PONA) using a gas chromatographic technique. This method is based upon group type separation according to carbon numbers using a programmed multiple valve switching sequence and employing multicolumn approach. The chromatographic operating conditions and carrier gas flow rates were selected to determine PONA contents of naphtha and kerosene fractions. These straight run fractions were produced by an automatic true boiling point (TBP) apparatus. Boiling range distributions of these fractions were determined using a standard ASTM method of simulated distillation. PONA results were compared with the literature. Total paraffins, naphthenes and aromatics agreed with each other.  相似文献

Effect of split isothermal transformations (SITs) on bainitic microstructure has been studied in an Fe-C-Si-Mn-Mo steel by optical and transmission electron microscopy. Split isothermal transfor-mations caused the spheroidization and coalescence of bainitic ferrite subunits, suggesting that bainite probably formed by a displacive transformation mechanism.  相似文献

We have developed a novel technique for mass production of microfabricated capillary array electrophoresis (mu-CAE) plastic chips for high-speed, high-throughput genetic analysis. The mu-CAE chips, containing 10 individual separation channels of 50-microm width, 50-microm depth, and a 100-microm lane-to-lane spacing at the detection region and a sacrificial channel network, were fabricated on a poly(methyl methacrylate) substrate by injection molding and then bonded manually using a pressure-sensitive sealing tape within several seconds at room temperature. The conditions for injection molding and bonding were carefully characterized to yield mu-CAE chips with well-defined channel and injection structures. A CCD camera equipped with an image intensifier was used to monitor simultaneously the separation in a 10-channel array with laser-induced fluorescence detection. High-performance electrophoretic separations of phiX174 HaeIII DNA restriction fragments and PCR products related to the human beta-globin gene and SP-B gene (the surfactant protein B) have been demonstrated on mu-CAE plastic chips using a methylcellulose sieving matrix in individual channels. The current work demonstrated greatly simplified the fabrication process as well as a detection scheme for mu-CAE chips and will bring the low-cost mass production and application of mu-CAE plastic chips for genetic analysis.  相似文献

Gateway Placement for Throughput Optimization in Wireless Mesh Networks   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
In this paper, we address the problem of gateway placement for throughput optimization in multi-hop wireless mesh networks. Assume that each mesh node in the mesh network has a traffic demand. Given the number of gateways to be deployed (denoted by k) and the interference model in the network, we study where to place exactly k gateways in the mesh network such that the total throughput is maximized while it also ensures a certain fairness among all mesh nodes. We propose a novel grid-based gateway deployment method using a cross-layer throughput optimization, and prove that the achieved throughput by our method is a constant times of the optimal. Simulation results demonstrate that our method can effectively exploit the available resources and perform much better than random and fixed deployment methods. In addition, the proposed method can also be extended to work with multi-channel and multi-radio mesh networks under different interference models.  相似文献

The global demand for soybean protein has increased dramatically over the last few years due to its versatility. High pressure (HP) processing is emerging as an effective alternative to thermal processing of foods. The HP treatment of protein solutions at different process conditions can cause partial unfolding of proteins that can lead to the irreversible gelation of the product. In this study, the influence of protein concentration (5–20% w/v), pH (3–7), sugar (5% w/v), CaCl2 (5% w/v), pressure level (up to 650 MPa) and holding time (0.1 and 10 min), and process temperature (20 and 40 °C) on the dynamic rheology of soybean protein concentrate (SPC) solutions was evaluated. Furthermore, the protein structural changes caused by HP were studied, through the use of the extrinsic fluorescence of the probe 8-anilino-1-naphthalene sulfonic acid (ANS) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. Results indicated a strong influence of protein concentration on both elastic (G′) and viscous (G″) moduli, increasing with concentration. Increase in pressure and holding time produced an increase on both G′ and G″ for SPC concentrations higher than 10%; at 15% SPC concentration, a relatively low pressure treatment of 250 MPa achieved the cross-over of G′ over G″. The structure of the soybean proteins suffered limited changes after HP treatment; hydrophobicity increased, as well as the relative proportion of random coil, while the β-sheet content decreased. HP treatment can be used to enhance the viscoelastic behavior of SPC after which SPC can be used to enrich both protein content and textural properties of foods.  相似文献

Infant milk formula has been identified as a potential source of Enterobacter sakazakii, which has been implicated in neonatal meningitis and necrotizing enterocolitis. This study was undertaken to determine whether the length of E. sakazakii storage in powdered infant milk formula (PIMF) affected the ability of the pathogen to survive subsequent reconstitution of the powder with hot water or treatment with gamma radiation. Five E. sakazakii strains were mixed individually with PIMF and kept for up to 12 months at 25 degrees C. After storage PIMF was reconstituted with water at 60 to 100 degrees C or was exposed to < or = 5 kGy of gamma radiation. Without any treatment secondary to drying, E. sakazakii counts decreased < 1 log/g after 1 month but decreased about 4 log/g during storage for 8 to 12 months. Dry storage decreased thermal resistance but increased resistance of E. sakazakii to ionizing radiation in PIMF. Reconstitution of contaminated powder with water at 70 degrees C after 1 month of dry storage reduced E. sakazakii viability slightly, > 2 log/g, and after powder was stored for 12 months all E. sakazakii strains were eliminated. In contrast, desiccation substantially increased the resistance of E. sakazakii strains to ionizing radiation. Although the D-value for E. sakazakii IMF1 following overnight storage in PIMF was 0.98 kGy, > 4 kGy was required to kill 1.5 log/g of the same strain that had survived 12 months in dry PIMF. Results suggested that low-dose irradiation will more effectively eliminate E. sakazakii from PIMF if the treatment is applied shortly after PIMF manufacture.  相似文献

In a previous study, ultrafiltration (UF) at 1.2x reduced residual chymosin activity and bitterness in exopolysaccharide (EPS)-positive reduced fat Cheddar cheese. The objective of this research was to study the effect of this level of concentration on the textural and functional characteristics of the reduced fat cheese. Ultrafiltration (1.2x) did not affect the hardness, cohesiveness, adhesiveness, chewiness, and gumminess of EPS-positive cheese. The 6-month old UF cheeses were springier than non-UF cheeses. However, the springiness of the EPS-positive cheese made from UF milk was much lower than that of the EPS-negative cheeses. Texture of the EPS-negative cheese was more affected by UF than that of the EPS-positive cheese. Differences were seen in the extent of flow between UF and non-UF cheeses at 1 and 3-months but not after 6 months ripening. Ultrafiltration increased the elastic modulus in the 6-month old EPS-positive cheeses. Higher body and texture scores were given to EPS-positive cheeses than the EPS-negative ones. Sensory panelists found the body of the UF and non-UF cheeses to be similar.  相似文献
