On-line monitoring of depth of cut in AWJ cutting   总被引:4,自引:0,他引:4  
Monitoring of the abrasive waterjet (AWJ) cutting process has become increasingly important. The present paper proposes a model for on-line depth of cut monitoring based on the acoustic emission (AE) response to the variation in AWJ depth of cut, instead of the expensive and impractical vertical cutting force monitoring. The main objective is to use the AE technique in order to predict the actual depth of cut in AWJ cutting under normal cutting conditions. It was found that the root mean square of the acoustic emission energy (AErms) increases linearly with an increase in the depth of cut and could be used for its on-line monitoring. The results show that the AE is the most suitable technique for AWJ monitoring, as the AE signal has high sensitivity to the variation in the depth of cut.  相似文献

PARO: Supporting Dynamic Power Controlled Routing in Wireless Ad Hoc Networks   总被引:14,自引:0,他引:14  
This paper introduces PARO, a dynamic power controlled routing scheme that helps to minimize the transmission power needed to forward packets between wireless devices in ad hoc networks. Using PARO, one or more intermediate nodes called redirectors elects to forward packets on behalf of source–destination pairs thus reducing the aggregate transmission power consumed by wireless devices. PARO is applicable to a number of networking environments including wireless sensor networks, home networks and mobile ad hoc networks. In this paper, we present the detailed design of PARO and evaluate the protocol using simulation and experimentation. We show through simulation that PARO is capable of outperforming traditional broadcast-based routing protocols (e.g., MANET routing protocols) due to its energy conserving point-to-point on-demand design. We discuss our experiences from an implementation of the protocol in an experimental wireless testbed using off-the-shelf radio technology. We also evaluate the impact of dynamic power controlled routing on traditional network performance metrics such as end-to-end delay and throughput.  相似文献

Propagation of ultrasonic waves through demineralized cancellous bone   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
Ultrasonic velocity is determined in a number of bovine cancellous (spongy) bone samples by using a double-probe-through-transmission ultrasonic pulse technique. The ultrasonic velocity, total mineral content, bone density, and solid volume fraction of the specimen were determined. The relation between fast velocity and each of the other parameters was examined to explore the best correlation using linear, logarithmic, power, and exponential relationships. There is a strong positive relationship between ultrasonic velocity and each of the other parameters. The exponential model fits the data better than the linear model, logarithmic model, and power model. Biot's theory also is used to predict the velocity of ultrasound in the demineralized bone. It is shown that the transmission of ultrasonic pulses in the cancellous bone samples can be adequately described using Biot's theory. The different parameters occurring in the Biot theory have been measured independently, and the calculation has been compared with measured velocity of water-saturated bone samples. The correlation coefficients for regression analysis between the experimental velocities and those predicted by Biot's theory are greater than 0.86.  相似文献

Source protection zones are increasingly important for securing the long-term viability of drinking water derived from groundwater resources. These may be either time-related capture zones or catchments related to the activity of a pumping well or spring. The establishment of such zones is an indispensable measure for the proper assessment of groundwater resource vulnerability and reduction of risk, which may be induced by human activities. The delineation of these protection zones is usually performed with the aid of models, which are in turn based on site-specific information of the aquifers geometry, hydraulic parameters and boundary conditions. Owing to the imperfect knowledge of such information, predicting the location of these zones is inherently uncertain. It is possible to quantify this uncertainty in a statistical manner through the development of probability maps, which shows the probability that a particular surface location belongs to the aquifers capture zone (or catchment area). This publication aims at the investigation of the requirements for the establishment of probabilistic source protection zones, the practical use of stochastic methods in their delineation, and the use of data-assimilation for uncertainty reduction. It also provides a methodology for the implementation of these methods by modelling practitioners.  相似文献

The influence of irradiation of minimally processed cabbage and cucumber on microbial safety, texture, and sensory quality was investigated. Minimally processed, polyethylene-packed, and irradiated cabbage and cucumber were stored at refrigeration temperature (5 degrees C) for 2 weeks. The firmness values ranged from 3.23 kg (control) to 2.82 kg (3.0-kGy irradiated samples) for cucumbers, with a gradual decrease in firmness with increasing radiation dose (0 to 3 kGy). Cucumbers softened just after irradiation with a dose of 3.0 kGy and after 14 days storage, whereas the texture remained within acceptable limits up to a radiation dose of 2.5 kGy. The radiation treatment had no effect on the appearance scores of cabbage; however, scores decreased from 7.0 to 6.7 during storage. The appearance and flavor scores of cucumbers decreased with increasing radiation dose, and overall acceptability was better after radiation doses of 2.5 and 3.0 kGy. The aerobic plate counts per gram for cabbage increased from 3 to 5 log CFU (control), from 1.85 to 2.93 log CFU (2.5 kGy), and from a few colonies to 2.6 log CFU (3.0 kGy) after 14 days of storage at 5 degrees C. A similar trend was noted for cucumber samples. No coliform bacteria were detected at radiation doses greater than 2.0 kGy in either cabbage or cucumber samples. Total fungal counts per gram of sample were within acceptable limits for cucumbers irradiated at 3.0 kGy, and for cabbage no fungi were detected after 2.0-kGy irradiation. The D-values for Escherichia coli in cucumber and cabbage were 0.19 and 0.17 kGy, and those for Salmonella Paratyphi A were 0.25 and 0.29 kGy for cucumber and cabbage, respectively.  相似文献

Crude juice of olive leaves (Kronakii cultivar) was obtained by hydraulic press. The level of polyphenlic compounds in the juice was 215 ppm. An aliquots of the concentrated olive leaf juice, represent 600, 1200 and 2400 ppm as polyphenols and butylated hydroxy toluene (BHT; 200 ppm) were administered to rats daily for 6 weeks by stomach tube. The liver (aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase and alkaline phosphatase activities) and kidney (bilirubin, uric acid, creatinine and urea) function tests and serum contents (total lipids, total cholesterol and low and high‐density lipoproteins) were measured to assess the safety limits of the polyphenolic compounds in the olive leaf juice. The data of the aforementioned measurements indicated that the administration of olive leaf juice did not cause any changes in liver and kidney functions. On the contrary, BHT at 200 ppm induced significant increases in the enzyme activities and the serum levels of total lipids, uric acid, urea and creatinine. Microscopical examinations of kidney and liver tissues of rats administered with the phenolic compounds of olive leaf juice had the histological character as that of control rats whilst, the administration of BHT at 200 ppm altered the features of rat liver tissues and severely damaged the rat kidney tissues.  相似文献

This paper addresses the problem of tuning model predictive controllers for good performance. An automatic online tuning strategy is developed to adjust the prediction horizon, P, the diagonal elements of the input weight matrix, Λ, and the diagonal elements of the output weight matrix, Γ. The control horizon is left constant because its relative value with respect to P is more important. The tuning algorithm is based on the fuzzy logic concepts. Predefined fuzzy rules that formulate the general tuning guidelines available in the literature and the performance violation measure in the form of fuzzy sets determine the new tuning parameter values. Therefore, the tuning algorithm is cast as a simple and straightforward mechanism with modest computational requirements. This feature makes it more appealing for online implementation. The effectiveness of the proposed tuning method is tested through simulated implementation on a binary distillation column example and on a non linear CSTR example. The result of the simulations revealed the success of such a method.  相似文献
