A combination of intumescent components was evaluated as a novel flame retardant system in a flexible polyurethane foam, and the incorporation of these components gave rise to a significant enhancement of the flame retardant properties of the foam. The heat release rate was lowered at an early stage as well as throughout the fire, the total heat production was decreased and the time to ignition was prolonged. Mechanical measurements of the foam revealed enhanced properties in terms of stiffness accompanied by a large decrease in elongation at break as compared with a reference foam. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH) in Egyptian condensates are analyzed for the first. A solid phase extraction (SPE) followed by gas chromatography-mass selective detection was used for their analysis. The method was calibrated for optimal extraction conditions. Excellent recoveries were found (78–114%) for the PAHs that were identified using a variety of standards and GC-MS spectra. The solid-phase extracted PAH fraction was further separated by HPLC on a Ag(I) mercaptopropanosilica gel to reduce the complexity of the sample by separating the PAHs based on the number of aromatic rings. The analytes were quantified using GC with a flame ionization detector. For this kind of sample SPE is a more convenient separation technique than an open column. PAHs containing two to four rings in the concentration range 0.6–11 μg/L were measured. Some preliminary geochemical hypotheses based on the analyzed PAHs and the previously analyzed S-containing aromatic compounds were formed as to the depositional environment and source rock type.  相似文献

An all-alkoxide route to films and nano-phase powders of the La0.5Sr0.5CoO3 perovskite is described. To our knowledge, this is the first purely alkoxide-based route to (La1− x Sr x )CoO3, and it yields phase-pure and elementally homogeneous perovskite at 700°C by heating at 2°C/min. At 700°C, a cubic unit cell was obtained with a c=3.853Å, and after further heating to 1000°C, a rhombohedral cell could be indexed: a r=5.417 Å, αr=59.94°. Ninety to 130 nm thick films of La0.5Sr0.5CoO3 were obtained by spin coating. The gel-to-oxide conversion was studied in some detail, using thermo-gravimetric analysis, differential scanning calorimetry, powder X-ray diffraction, IR spectroscopy, and transmission electron microscope equipped with an energy-dispersive X-ray spectrometer.  相似文献

Thermal spray processes are widely used to protect materials and components against wear, corrosion and oxidation. Despite the use of the latest developments of thermal spraying, such as high-velocity oxy-fuel (HVOF) and plasma spraying, these coatings may in certain service conditions show inadequate performance,e.g., due to insufficient bond strength and/or mechanical properties and corrosion resistance inferior to those of corresponding bulk materials. The main cause for a low bond strength in thermalsprayed coatings is the low process temperature, which results only in mechanical bonding. Mechanical and corrosion properties typically inferior to wrought materials are caused by the chemical and structural inhomogeneity of the thermal-sprayed coating material. To overcome the drawbacks of sprayed structures and to markedly improve the coating properties, laser remelting of sprayed coatings was studied in the present work. The coating material was nickel-based superalloy Inconel 625, which contains chromium and molybdenum as the main alloying agents. The coating was prepared by HVOF spraying onto mild steel substrates. High-power continuous wave Nd:YAG laser equipped with large beam optics was used to remelt the HVOF sprayed coating using different levels of power and scanning speed. The coatings as-sprayed and after laser remelting were characterized by optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Laser remelting resulted in homogenization of the sprayed structure. This strongly improved the performance of the laser-remelted coatings in adhesion, wet corrosion, and high-temperature oxidation testing. The properties of the laser-remelted coatings were compared directly with the properties of as-sprayed HVOF coatings and with plasma-transferred arc (PTA) overlay coatings and wrought Inconel 625 alloy.  相似文献

A readout circuit for a 640 × 480 pixels FPA (focal plane array) has been successfully designed, fabricated and tested. The circuit solution is based on a per pixel source-follower direct injection (SFDI) pre-amplifier. Signal multiplexing is performed in both X and Y direction. The pixel size is 25 m × 25m. The chip is optimized for a QWIP (quantum well infrared photodetector) operating at a temperature of 70 K. The circuit has been realized in a standard 0.8 m CMOS process.  相似文献

Optogenetics is an emerging powerful tool to investigate workings of the nervous system. However, the use of low tissue penetrating visible light limits its therapeutic potential. Employing deep penetrating near‐infrared (NIR) light for optogenetics would be beneficial but it cannot be used directly. This issue can be tackled with upconversion nanoparticles (UCNs) acting as nanotransducers emitting at shorter wavelengths extending to the UV range upon NIR light excitation. Although attractive, implementation of such NIR‐optogenetics is hindered by the low UCN emission intensity that necessitates high NIR excitation intensities, resulting in overheating issues. A novel quasi‐continuous wave (quasi‐CW) excitation approach is developed that significantly enhances multiphoton emissions from UCNs, and for the first time NIR light‐triggered optogenetic manipulations are implemented in vitro and in C. elegans. The approach developed here enables the activation of channelrhodopsin‐2 with a significantly lower excitation power and UCN concentration along with negligible phototoxicity as seen with CW excitation, paving the way for therapeutic optogenetics.  相似文献

Double-sided silicon strip detectors with integrated coupling capacitors and polysilicon resistors have been processed on a 100 mm wafer. A detector with an active area of 19 × 19 mm2 was connected to LSI readout electronics and tested. The strip pitch of the detector is 25 μm on the p-side and 50 μm on the n-side. The readout pitch is 50 μm on both sides. The number of readout strips is 774 and the total number of strips is 1161. On the p-side a signal-to-noise of 35 has been measured using a 90Sr β-source. In Gothenburg tram injuries were identified to be an important cause of traffic injuries and fatalities (48%) among pedestrians. During the summer middle-aged men, often under the influence of alcohol, were often severely injured and the injury rate was also high during the autumn. A majority (60%) of those fatally injured were under the influence of alcohol. Most injury events happened at or near a tram stop. The most serious injuries arose when the victim landed under a tram. In 1992, a runaway tram caused a major disaster, killing 10 pedestrians and injuring 30. The injury reducing measures the tram company has now started to introduce include safety railings at tram stops, side barriers on the tramcars to prevent people from falling under the tram and lower speeds near tram stops.  相似文献

We present a new approach to time domain hybrid schemes for the Maxwell equations. By combining the classical FD‐TD scheme with two unstructured solvers, one explicit finite volume solver and one implicit finite element solver, we achieve a very efficient and flexible second‐order scheme. The second‐order accuracy of the hybrid scheme is verified through convergence studies on perfectly conducting as well as dielectric and diamagnetic circular cylinders. A novel TV holography method is proposed for parallel evaluation of in-plane and out-of-plane deformation fields. The method permits a trade-off between in-plane and out-of-plane measuring sensitivity. A four-exposure, four-frame phase shifting technique is used in the experiments; the experimental results for an aluminum specimen subjected to both rotation in its own plane and a bending couple load at the center are presented.  相似文献
