Driven by the continuing Moore’s Law evolution in chip technology, power dissipation of nanoelectronics chips could exceed 300W, with heat fluxes above 150W/cm2, within the next few years, along with localized, sub-millimeter zones with heat fluxes in excess of 1kW/cm2. New and novel cooling techniques, with the ability to selectively cool sub-millimeter “sun spots” while providing effective global cooling for high heat flux chips are needed. Several promising approaches, including the application of miniaturized silicon and BiTe thermoelectric coolers and direct cooling with dielectric liquids through thin film evaporation, will be described.  相似文献

In this letter, a de-embedding procedure is proposed to accurately extract the small signal equivalent circuit of advanced MOSFETs up to 110GHz. This efficient procedure is easy to implement using only one "open" dummy structure to de-embed the external parasitics (probe pads, interconnecting transmission line, and top-down metallic interconnections and via holes) and is in particular suitable for industrial online automatic test. The method has been validated in the case of 65-nm n-MOSFETs and is proved to be efficient up to 110GHz  相似文献

An analytical method for calculating plasticity-induced fatigue crack closure in plates of finite thickness is presented. The developed method utilizes the distributed dislocation technique (DDT) and Gauss-Chebyshev quadrature. Crack tip plasticity is incorporated by adopting a Dugdale type strip yield model. The finite plate thickness effects are taken into account by using a recently obtained three-dimensional solution for an edge dislocation in an infinite plate. Numerical results for the ratio of the size of the crack tip plasticity zones are presented for the cases of uniform thickness wake and linearly increasing wake for a range of plate thickness to crack length ratios and applied load ratios. The results show a very good agreement with previous analytical solutions in the limiting cases of very thick and very thin plates. Further results for the opening stress to maximum stress ratio are also provided and are compared with known three-dimensional finite element (FE) solutions. A good agreement is observed. The developed method is shown to be an effective and very powerful tool in modeling the crack closure phenomenon.  相似文献

In this paper, we present a unified approach for the verification and validation of software and systems engineering design models expressed in UML 2.0 and SysML 1.0. The approach is based on three well-established techniques, namely formal analysis, programme analysis and software engineering (SwE) techniques. More precisely, our contribution consists of the synergistic combination of model checking, static analysis and SwE metrics that enables the automatic and efficient assessment of design models from static and dynamic perspectives. Additionally, we present the design and implementation of an automated computer-aided assessing framework integrating the proposed approach. Moreover, we discuss the related technical details and the underlying synergism. Finally, we illustrate the proposed approach by assessing a design case study that is composed of state machine and sequence diagrams.  相似文献

Meta-level abduction is a method to abduce missing rules in explaining observations. By representing rule structures of a problem in a form of causal networks, meta-level abduction infers missing links and unknown nodes from incomplete networks to complete paths for observations. We examine applicability of meta-level abduction on networks containing both positive and negative causal effects. Such networks appear in many domains including biology, in which inhibitory effects are important in several biological pathways. Reasoning in networks with inhibition involves nonmonotonic inference, which can be realized by making default assumptions in abduction. We show that meta-level abduction can consistently produce both positive and negative causal relations as well as invented nodes. Case studies of meta-level abduction are presented in p53 signaling networks, in which causal relations are abduced to suppress a tumor with a new protein and to stop DNA synthesis when damage has occurred. Effects of our method are also analyzed through experiments of completing networks randomly generated with both positive and negative links.  相似文献

In the first part of this work, we derive compact numerical quadrature formulas for finite-range integrals $I[f]=\int^{b}_{a}f(x)\,dx$ , where f(x)=g(x)|x?t| ?? , ?? being real. Depending on the value of ??, these integrals are defined either in the regular sense or in the sense of Hadamard finite part. Assuming that g??C ??[a,b], or g??C ??(a,b) but can have arbitrary algebraic singularities at x=a and/or x=b, and letting h=(b?a)/n, n an integer, we derive asymptotic expansions for ${T}^{*}_{n}[f]=h\sum_{1\leq j\leq n-1,\ x_{j}\neq t}f(x_{j})$ , where x j =a+jh and t??{x 1,??,x n?1}. These asymptotic expansions are based on some recent generalizations of the Euler?CMaclaurin expansion due to the author (A.?Sidi, Euler?CMaclaurin expansions for integrals with arbitrary algebraic endpoint singularities, in Math. Comput., 2012), and are used to construct our quadrature formulas, whose accuracies are then increased at will by applying to them the Richardson extrapolation process. We pay particular attention to the case in which ??=?2 and f(x) is T-periodic with T=b?a and $f\in C^{\infty}(-\infty,\infty)\setminus\{t+kT\}^{\infty}_{k=-\infty}$ , which arises in the context of periodic hypersingular integral equations. For this case, we propose the remarkably simple and compact quadrature formula $\widehat{Q}_{n}[f]=h\sum^{n}_{j=1}f(t+jh-h/2)-\pi^{2} g(t)h^{-1}$ , and show that $\widehat{Q}_{n}[f]-I[f]=O(h^{\mu})$ as h??0 ???>0, and that it is exact for a class of singular integrals involving trigonometric polynomials of degree at most n. We show how $\widehat{Q}_{n}[f]$ can be used for solving hypersingular integral equations in an efficient manner. In the second part of this work, we derive the Euler?CMaclaurin expansion for integrals $I[f]=\int^{b}_{a} f(x)dx$ , where f(x)=g(x)(x?t) ?? , with g(x) as before and ??=?1,?3,?5,??, from which suitable quadrature formulas can be obtained. We revisit the case of ??=?1, for which the known quadrature formula $\widetilde{Q}_{n}[f]=h\sum^{n}_{j=1}f(t+jh-h/2)$ satisfies $\widetilde{Q}_{n}[f]-I[f]=O(h^{\mu})$ as h??0 ???>0, when f(x) is T-periodic with T=b?a and $f\in C^{\infty}(-\infty,\infty)\setminus\{t+kT\}^{\infty}_{k=-\infty}$ . We show that this formula too is exact for a class of singular integrals involving trigonometric polynomials of degree at most n?1. We provide numerical examples involving periodic integrands that confirm the theoretical results.  相似文献

Several algorithms have been proposed to retrieve near-surface wind fields from C-band synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images acquired over the ocean. They mainly differ in the way they retrieve the wind direction. Conventionally, the wind direction is taken from atmospheric models or is extracted from the linear features sometimes visible in SAR images. Recently, a new wind retrieval algorithm has been proposed, which also includes the Doppler shift induced by motions of the sea surface. In this article, we apply three wind retrieval algorithms, including the one using Doppler information, to three complex wind events encountered over the Black Sea and compare the SAR-derived wind fields with model wind fields calculated using the high-resolution weather research and forecasting (WRF) model. It is shown that the new algorithm is very efficient in resolving the 180° ambiguity in the wind direction, which is often a problem in the streak-based wind retrieval algorithms. However, the Doppler-based algorithm only yields good results for wind directions that have a significant component in the look direction of the SAR antenna. Furthermore, it is dependent on good separation of the contributions to the Doppler shift induced by surface currents and wind-related effects (wind drift and wind-sea components of the ocean wave spectrum). We conclude that an optimum wind retrieval algorithm should consist of a combination of the algorithms based on linear features and Doppler information.  相似文献

A method for automatic identification of diatoms (single-celled algae with silica shells) based on extraction of features on the contour of the cells by multi-scale mathematical morphology is presented. After extracting the contour of the cell, it is smoothed adaptively, encoded using Freeman chain code, and converted into a curvature representation which is invariant under translation and scale change. A curvature scale space is built from these data, and the most important features are extracted from it by unsupervised cluster analysis. The resulting pattern vectors, which are also rotation-invariant, provide the input for automatic identification of diatoms by decision trees and k-nearest neighbor classifiers. The method is tested on two large sets of diatom images. The techniques used are applicable to other shapes besides diatoms. Andrei C. Jalba received his B.Sc. (1998) and M.Sc. Many of today's demanding applications require thin-film coatings with high hardness, toughness, and thermal stability. In many cases, coating thickness in the range 2-20 microm and low surface roughness are required. Diamond films meet many of the stated requirements, but their crystalline nature leads to a high surface roughness. Nanocrystalline diamond offers a smoother surface, but significant surface modification of the substrate is necessary for successful nanocrystalline diamond deposition and adhesion. A hybrid hard and tough material may be required for either the desired applications, or as a basis for nanocrystalline diamond film growth. One possibility is a composite system based on carbides or nitrides. Many binary carbides and nitrides offer one or more mentioned properties. By combining these binary compounds in a ternary or quaternary nanocrystalline system, we can tailor the material for a desired combination of properties. Here, we describe the results on the structural and mechanical properties of the coating systems composed of tungsten-chromium-carbide and/or nitride. These WC-Cr-(N) coatings are deposited using magnetron sputtering. The growth of adherent nanocrystalline diamond films by microwave plasma chemical vapor deposition has been demonstrated on these coatings. The WC-Cr-(N) and WC-Cr-(N)-NCD coatings are characterized with atomic force microscopy and SEM, X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, and nanoindentation.  相似文献

In many technological processes involving cutting or welding of thin plates there is local thermal heating or cooling at the tip of the cut by a thermal source. In this paper we analytically investigate the stress distribution induced by the point thermal source moving with a constant velocity across an infinite elastic plate. Stress intensity factor for the cut formed by the moving thermal source is calculated. It is shown that for welding the value of the stress intensity factor due to thermal stresses induced by the thermal source is equal to zero. For cutting in the case of positive values of the power of thermal source the stress intensity factors will be negative. This means that the thermal field induced by the point thermal heat source will tend to close the cut in the vicinity of the tip. The opposite situation occurs when the cut tip is cooled by the thermal source. As an example, the theory under development is shown when applied to some strength issues of thermal beam cutting of brittle materials.  相似文献
