l-Tryptophan caused growth inhibition of roots and hypocotyls (or coleoptiles) of cockscomb (Amaranthus caudatus L.), lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.), cress (Lepidium sativum L.), timothy (Phleum pratense L.), rice (Oryza sativa L.), wheat (Triticum aestivum L.), and oat (Avena sativa L.), increasing the dose ofl-tryptophan increased the inhibition. The concentrations for 50% inhibition of the root growth were 0.14, 0.15, 0.21, 0.79, 0.95, 1.7, and 2.4 mM for cockscomb, cress, lettuce, timothy, rice, wheat, and oat, respectively; the concentrations for 40% inhibition of the hypocotyl (or coleoptile) growth were 0.28, 0.33, 0.43, 2.7, 4.5, 7.2, and 15 mM for cockscomb, cress, lettuce, timothy, rice, wheat and oat, respectively. The levels ofl-tryptophan in oat seedlings and in its root exudates were 29.3 mg/kg fresh wt and 0.25 mM under light conditions, and 21.1 mg/kg fresh wt and 0.18 mM under dark conditions, respectively. The presence ofl-tryptophan in the root exudates coupled with its effect on growth suggested thatl-tryptophan may play an important role in the growth inhibition of other plants in nature.  相似文献

An innovative technology for sewage treatment systems is proposed. A mixture of sewage sludge and char particle is subjected to drying in the progress of composting in an updraft column. Exothermic heat generated during composting is utilized for energy of sludge drying. The char particle in the mixture contributes to enhancement of composting and drying rate. This study presents drying and composting behaviors of sludge to examine the effect of char addition. A fundamental drying experiment was carried out by hot-air heating of the sample in a small vessel. The drying characteristic curve for a mixture of sludge and char was greater than the sample of only sludge over a whole period if the drying rates were compared with the same moisture content. The drying behavior could be analyzed with a reasonable agreement by the water front receding model. The enhancement effect of drying and composting of sludge by char addition was confirmed by examination using a pilot scale of the updraft column whose volume was 50 m3. Sludge with 400% dry base (80% wet base) in moisture content could be dried successfully to lower moisture content than 67% dry base (40% wet base) only by exothermic heat during composting without supplying any auxiliary energy from the outside, and the treatment time was reduced by mixing char in sludge. The behavior was analyzed with a satisfactory agreement by a theoretical model employing moisture diffusion parameters determined from the drying characteristic curve.  相似文献

The role of oxygen for the hole doping has been investigated for single-phased (Bi,Pb)2Sr2Ca2Cu3O. z Defects introduced by oxygen have been clarified to be interstitial atoms by pycnometric density measurements. The c axis decreases and the modulation periods along the b axis also decrease with increasing oxygen content in the crystal. It is likely that extra oxygen ions exist between the BiO double layers and those oxygen ions are responsible for the modulation. Samples with oxygen content ranging from 9.99 to 10.18 showed superconductivity. The critical temperature T c , exhibited a maximum value (109 K) at 10.07 oxygen atoms in the formula unit, which coincided with the average Cu valence of 2.13. The data indicated that hole formation was governed by oxygenation reaction in this system.  相似文献

Metabolic syndrome is associated with an increased risk of colorectal cancer. This study investigated the impact of hypertension, a component of metabolic syndrome, on azoxymethane (AOM)-induced colorectal carcinogenesis using SHRSP/Izm (SHRSP) non-diabetic/hypertensive rats and SHRSP.Z-Leprfa/IzmDmcr (SHRSP-ZF) diabetic/hypertensive rats. Male 6-week-old SHRSP, SHRSP-ZF, and control non-diabetic/normotensive Wister Kyoto/Izm (WKY) rats were given 2 weekly intraperitoneal injections of AOM (20 mg/kg body weight). Two weeks after the last injection of AOM, the SHRSP and SHRSP-ZF rats became hypertensive compared to the control WKY rats. Serum levels of angiotensin-II, the active product of the renin-angiotensin system, were elevated in both SHRSP and SHRSP-ZF rats, but only the SHRSP-ZF rats developed insulin resistance, dyslipidemia, and hyperleptinemia and exhibited an increase in adipose tissue. The development of AOM-induced colonic preneoplastic lesions and aberrant crypts foci, was significantly accelerated in both SHRSP and SHRSP-ZF hypertensive rats, compared to WKY normotensive rats. Furthermore, induction of oxidative stress and exacerbation of inflammation were observed in the colonic mucosa and systemically in SHRSP and SHRSP-ZF rats. Our findings suggest that hypertension plays a role in the early stage of colorectal carcinogenesis by inducing oxidative stress and chronic inflammation, which might be associated with activation of the renin-angiotensin system.  相似文献

6-Methoxy-benzoxazolin-2(3H)-one (MBOA) inhibited the germination of cress (Lepidium sativum L.) seeds at concentrations greater than 0.03 mM. Inhibition was overcome by sucrose, suggesting that MBOA may inhibit sugar metabolism in cress seeds. Induction of α-amylase activity in seeds was also inhibited by MBOA at concentrations greater than 0.03 mM. Inhibition of both germination and induction of α-amylase activity increased with increasing concentrations of MBOA, and the extent of germination correlated positively with the activity of α-amylase in the seeds. MBOA added to a reaction mixture for α-amylase assay did not affect enzyme activity, indicating that MBOA does not inhibit in vitro α-amylase activity. Cress seeds germinated approximately 16 hr after incubation, and inhibition of α-amylase by MBOA occurred within 6 hr after incubation. These results suggest that MBOA may inhibit the germination of cress seeds by inhibiting the induction of α-amylase activity, because α-amylase plays a key role in the conversion of reserve carbohydrate into soluble sugars, a prerequisite for seed germination.  相似文献

A novel temperature measuring system named LATSIS was proposed to realize a robust and accurate prediction of the thermal deformation of machining centers, even under external disturbances such as cutting fluid supply. LATSIS enables a drastic increase in the number of sensors employed for measuring the temperature of the machine tool. Thus, the entire temperature distribution can be obtained by interpolating the measured temperature 3-dimensionally without calculating the heat conduction. A set of experiments was conducted in which the LATSIS was employed to predict the TCP error. A total of 284 sensors were placed on the machining center, and the TCP error was predicted based on the measured temperature for the situation with/without the cutting fluid supply. The results of the prediction showed good agreement with the measured TCP error even during the initial transient temperature change as well as in the cooling phase after the machine halt. The TCP error with the cutting fluid supply is accurately predicted. LATSIS was proven to be a robust and accurate method for predicting the thermal deformation of machine tools, and is a promising technology for future manufacturing systems.  相似文献

Current steel forgings used for the construction of steam generators (SGs) for a nuclear power plant (NPP) were introduced from the following three (3) features. (1) Integral type steel forgings such as (i) primary head integrated with nozzles, manways and supports, (ii) steam drum head integrated with nozzle and handhole, (iii) conical shell integrated with cylindrical sections and handholes, have been developed to enhance the structural integrity of the component and to make fabrication and inspection including in-service inspection easier. (2) The high strength steel such as SA508 Cl.3a has been adopted to decrease the weight of components, resulting in enhancement of aseismatic properties of SG. (3) Low Si SA508 Cl.3 steel with the addition of Al was investigated and was applied to a heavy thick tube sheet forging, to minimize the macro- and micro-segregations in the ingot.  相似文献

We established a label-free method of measuring proteins in crude cell lysate using antibody arrays and surface plasmon resonance (SPR) imaging. The refractivity of the running buffer was adjusted with that of the lysate to overcome the bulk effect. The chemistries of the fabricated arrays were investigated to reduce nonspecific adsorption on the array surface. We found that the hydrophilicity of the poly(ethylene glycol) moiety and lower electrostatic charge on the surface provided a specific measurement of antigen-antibody interaction. We validated the system by measuring the expression of eight proteins in the mouse brain and comparing the results to those by conventional Western blotting. The detection limit of the antibody array was approximately 30 ng/mL in crude cell lysate, on the same order as that of previous SPR research. The system enabled quick, label-free, and high-throughput analysis of abundant proteins with minimal sample volume ( approximately 200 muL). It is expected that our SPR antibody array will be applicable for direct protein expression profiling of cell lysate, as well as for cell phenotyping, food analysis, discovery of new biomarkers, and immunological disease diagnostics.  相似文献
