Effects of constant magnetic field on the growth and metastasizing of Lewis carcinoma in mice

In mice with the metastasizing Lewis carcinoma the constant magnetic field (CMF) was studied for its effect on growth and metastatic process depending on the immobilization of animals. The results obtained show a decrease in the rate of the primary tumour growth and in the intensity of the metastatic process under the influence of CMF by incomplete immobilization. Complete immobilization eliminates the antimetastatic effects of the CMF.     

The use of fermented milk drink with topinambur for the treatment of Helicobacter infection in the liquidators of Chernobyl nuclear power plant accident

For estimation of anti-helicobacter activity of new fermented milk drink with Helianthus tuberosus called 23 liquidators of crash after-effects of Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant were observed. Helicobacter pylori were determined in faeces by PCR-method, immune system readings--by first-level methods. The drink was applied in 200 grams portions during 18 days. After therapy appearance of Helicobacter pylori in faeces was reduced for 3 times. Reading of HCT-test, increased up to 16% in the first test before therapy, was normalized after therapy. Listed figures prove anti-helicobacter activity of fermented milk drink with Helianthus tuberosus.     

Use of alternating-current polarography for determining the lead and cadmium content of wheat grain

The authors studied the possibility of determining lead and cadmium in wheat grain by polarography in the presence of O. 1 N hydrochloric acid. The determination of lead and cadmium in the grain can be performed with the use of the addition method and the calibrating curve. However, during cadmium determination, the calibrating curve provides more reproducible results. Altogether 100 samples of wheat grown in different regions of the European part of the USSR were analyzed by polarography. The data obtained indicate that the content of lead and cadmium in wheat grain does not depend on the region where that culture was grown. It amounts to 0-0.2 micrograms/g for lead and 0-0.04 micrograms/g for cadmium for the majority of samples. If the content of these elements is higher than the amounts indicated, there is every reason to suggest that in this region there are sources of grain contamination with lead and cadmium.     

Increasing the effectiveness of thiamine by its administration together with methionine and vitamin E]

The influence of methionine and vitamin E, compounds intensifying thiol metabolism, on thiamine-phosphate level and thiamine-dependent dehydrogenase activity was studied in the liver of rats with varying thiamine providing: in case of its alimentary deficiency, and intensified thiamine consumption due to rat feeding with high-carbohydrate food. Methionine administration to vitamin B1-deficient rats led to a significant rise in thiamine-phosphate content and normalized alpha-ketoacid dehydrogenase acidity and non-protein SH-group level. Combined administration of thiamine with methionine and vitamin E increased the level of parameters studied. Methionine and vitamin E administered with thiamine intensified the regulatory action of thiamine on pyruvate dehydrogenase activity in the animals fed high-carbohydrate ration.     

Hydrolase composition and activity of human milk in the antimony subregion of the Fergana Valley

Examination of 112 women living in the antimonic subregion of the Fergana valley has shown that the composition of breast milk and enzymatic activity of its hydrolases depend not only on the period of lactation but also on the features of the antimonic biogeochemical regions where lactating mothers live. Iodine prophylaxis of the endemic goiter among women, promoting the improvement of the biological value of breast milk should be carried out with regard to the antimony content in the environment.     

Effect of exogenous zinc deficiency on the duration of skin graft functioning

The influence of alimentary zinc deficiency on duration of skin allograft functioning was studied in experiments on guinea pigs. Feeding the animals with a ration deprived of zinc results in significant prolongation of the skin graft functioning period. Thus, in the test group animals that received the ration deprived of zinc the mean time of the graft functioning comprised 24.0 +/- 1.4 days, while in the guinea pigs of the control group that were fed with full value ration, this parameter was 9.9 +/- 0.42 days. At the same time the number of circulating lymphocytes was decreased and their capacity for spontaneous rosette-formation was suppressed in the peripheral blood of the test group animals, as well as manifest inhibition of zinc-dependent enzymes (lactate dehydrogenase, alkaline phosphatase, carbonic anhydrase) in the blood was recorded. Zinc deficiency in the ration induces significant diminution of this trace element content in the muscles, bones, liver, skin and blood, under conditions of its daily negative balance in the body.     

Efficiency of the vegetative tea in diet therapy for patients with obesity associated with diabetes mellitus type 2

The dynamic of glycemia, insulin, C-peptide, glycosylated hemoglobin, fructosamine, thyroid hormones, parameters of serum lipids, lipid peroxidation and system of antioxidant defense in 81 hospital patients and out-patients with obesity associated with diabetes mellitus type II was studied of influence of hypocaloric diet 9. Universal normalizing influence of hypocaloric diet 9 with vegetation tea was discovered on parameters of carbohydrate, lipid and oxidative metabolism and of patients clinical state of pateni. The additional criteria of evaluation of efficacy of food dietary supplements in complex treatment of patients with obesity associated with diabetes mellitus type II was offered on basis of study of influence vegetation tea on mechanisms of metabolic disorders in these patients.     

Use of a specialized soft drink based on plant raw material in nutrition of patients with diabetes mellitus

The using of the low calorie soft drink "Forest gift" based on plant raw and enriched with vitamin C and iodine by patients with diabetes mellitus has resulted in the improvement of carbohydrates metabolism, provision of iodine and vitamin C and oxidant status of organism. Obtained data has promised to recommend this product for using in patient's ration.     

Characteristics of collagen's material bifidogenic properties

It is still essential to search for new, available food ingredients with bifidogenic effect, to study their safety, efficacy and production effectiveness upon the creation of functional foods. The review considers protein products such as collagens and their hydrolyzates, which are used in culture mediums as growth factor. They are treated, besides carbohydrate prebiotics, as potential bifidogenic nutrients. Collagen hydralyzates contain all amino acids, required for bifidobacteria growth. That is why it is considered essential to provide control over its biosafety. However, recyclable materials of animal origin are included into a list of Specific Risk Materials of prion disease agents transmitting. Collagen hydralyzates are preserved up to distal intestine parts. This fact approximates their qualities to oligosaccharids' type of prebiotic food fibers, related to the lack of absorption and hydrolytic stability. The additional study of mechanisms of bifidobacteria's forcing is required. It can be made at the expense of the modification of the albuminous cell metabolism during the collagen hydralyzats' unilization.
