ABSTRACTIn order to effectively implement measures against the adverse effects of large earthquakes on telecommunication conduits, it is important to elucidate which conduit is vulnerable. Telecommunication conduits consist of pipe bodies and joints, and as is well known the joints are weaker than the bodies against seismic loading. Hence, the seismic performance of the conduits depends on the performance of the joints. To maintain conduits properly, the corrosion rate of conduits' joint in the field must be determined. Several sites were selected and investigated for the amount of stagnant water in manholes. Next, the stagnant water test specimens were collected and observed for the extent of corrosion inside via a pipe camera, and subsequently analysed collected water test specimens. Moreover, the solution resistances and polarisation resistances using the AC impedance method and carbon steel coupons were measured. The experiments revealed differences between the measured values recorded at the different sites. It was also found that some data were related to corrosion on the inside of the conduits.This paper is part of a supplementary issue from the 17th Asia-Pacific Corrosion Control Conference (APCCC-17). 相似文献

A simple α‐helical N‐model‐peptide was designed to investigate the role of the arginine‐rich motif of bacteriophage λ N‐peptide in selective binding with boxB RNA. The five‐arginine arrangement of native N‐peptide was retained; all other residues were replaced with alanine. In vitro selection of RNA (30 random‐nucleotide region) was carried out with N‐model‐peptide immobilized on a 27 MHz quartz‐crystal microbalance (QCM). Selected RNAs were evaluated on the same QCM plate to obtain binding constants (Ka=107–108 M ?1). Many selected RNAs contained GNR(N)A‐type loops (similar to the boxB RNA motif recognized by the native N‐peptide). Fragments and minimal RNAs containing the GNRA‐type loop also bound to N‐model‐peptide (Ka=106–107 M ?1). The RNA recognition specificity of the peptide was studied by changing the “closing” U–A base pair and one base in the tetraloop of the RNA aptamers, and by peptide mutations (18th residue of N‐model‐peptide). It was concluded that the five‐arginine arrangement of the peptide performs selective recognition of the GNRA tetraloop and GNR(N)A pentaloop RNA structures, and that substitution of another functional amino acid residue at the 18th position in N‐peptide adds the recognition ability for a loop‐RNA sequence. 相似文献

The phosphorus barrier layers at the doping procedure of silicon wafers were fabricated using a spin-coating method with a mixture of silica-sol and tetramethylammonium hydroxide, which can be formed at the rear surface prior to the front phosphorus spin-on-demand (SOD) diffusion and directly annealed simultaneously with the front phosphorus layer. The optimization of coating thickness was obtained by changing the applied spin-coating speed; from 2,000 to 8,000 rpm. The CZ-Si p-type silicon solar cells were fabricated with/without using the rear silica-sol layer after taking the sheet resistance measurements, SIMS analysis, and SEM measurements of the silica-sol material evaluations into consideration. For the fabrication of solar cells, a spin-coating phosphorus source was used to form the n+ emitter and was then diffused at 930°C for 35 min. The out-gas diffusion of phosphorus could be completely prevented by spin-coated silica-sol film placed on the rear side of the wafers coated prior to the diffusion process. A roughly 2% improvement in the conversion efficiency was observed when silica-sol was utilized during the phosphorus diffusion step. These results can suggest that the silica-sol material can be an attractive candidate for low-cost and easily applicable spin-coating barrier for any masking purpose involving phosphorus diffusion. 相似文献

High quality epitaxial SrCoOx (oxygen deficient SrCoO3) thin films were grown on (110) DyScO3 substrates by pulsed laser deposition.The disappearance of half order peaks in X‐ray diffraction as well as the XAS at the O K‐edge indicates an oxygen content of x ≈ 2.8 in the thin films. Magnetization measurements reveal that the specific substrate strain suppresses the ferromagnetism found in the corresponding bulk material and the emergence of an antiferromagnetic‐type spin correlation as predicted by theoretical calculations. Our work demonstrates that the magnetism can be tuned by in‐plane strain in SrCoOx thin films. 相似文献

Luminescent oxygen-sensory polymer-coatings composed of platinum tetrakis(pentafluorophenyl)-porpholactone (PtPL) and -porphyrin (PtPP) with poly(trimethylsilylpropyne) (PMSP) were prepared for visualization of the oxygen partial pressure on two parallel planes or a biplanar surface. PMSP formed a smooth and tough coating as a high oxygen-permeable polymer matrix with a thickness of ca. 2 μm, which homogeneously contained the luminescent dye probe, PtPL or PtPP. Under UV light (395 nm) irradiation, the coatings displayed strong magenta and red luminescence with maximum peaks at 750 and 650 nm ascribed to the PtPL and PtPP, respectively. The luminescence of the two coatings was efficiently quenched by oxygen which allowed the development of engineering curve to analyze the oxygen partial pressure. The luminescence intensities of the two coatings were separately monitored in order to allow the simultaneous measurement of the oxygen partial pressure distribution upon two planar surfaces. 相似文献

Vinylester resin‐clay hybrids were prepared by the mixing different types of organically‐modified montmorillonite (OMMT) with vinylester resin (VER) prepolymer, followed by thermal polymerization. VER prepolymer was synthesized from the reaction of diglycidylether of bisphenol‐A (DGEBA) with acrylic acid. Various types of organic ammonium salts have been used as intercalating agents for montmorillonite, including N,N‐dimethyl‐N‐(4‐vinylbenzyl)stearyl ammonium chloride (VSA), N‐allyl‐N,N‐dimethyl‐stearyl ammonium chloride (ASA) and N,N‐dimethyl‐stearyl ammonium chloride (SA). The dispersion of OMMT into VER matrix was studied by XRD, which indicates the dependence of the morphology mainly on the OMMT content. UV–vis spectra of the hybrids were used to give a quantitative value of the effect of OMMT content on the transparency of VER/OMMT hybrid films. Also, the Vickers test has been performed to study the effect of OMMT content on the surface hardness of the hybrid films. In addition, the thermal properties of the hybrids have been characterized by measuring the softening points and thermogravimetric analyses of the hybrids in comparison with the pure resin. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Callosobruchus rhodesianus (Pic) (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae: Bruchinae) is a pest of stored legumes through the Afro-tropical region. In laboratory bioassays, males of C. rhodesianus were attracted to volatiles collected from virgin females. Collections were purified by various chromatographic techniques, and the biologically active component isolated using gas chromatographic-electroantennographic detection analysis. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and NMR analyses suggested that the active compound was 2,3-dihydrohomofarnesal, i.e., 7-ethyl-3,11-dimethyl-6,10-dodecadienal. The structure was confirmed by non-stereoselective and enantioselective total synthesis. Using chiral gas chromatography, the absolute configuration of the natural compound was confirmed as (3S,6E)-7-ethyl-3,11-dimethyl-6,10-dodecadienal. Y-tube olfactomter assays showed that only the (S)-enantiomer attracted males of C. rhodesianus. The (R)-enantiomer and racemate did not attract males, suggesting that the (R)-enantiomer inhibits the activity of the natural compound. In combination with previous reports about sex attractant pheromones of congeners, we suggest that a saltational shift of the pheromone structure arose within the genus Callosobruchus. 相似文献

were used as inner aqueous phase, oil phase, and outer aqueous phase, respectively. The influence of microcapsule preparation
parameters on the viability of encapsulated cells and encapsulation efficiency was investigated. The radical polymerization
process did not cause significant damage to encapsulated yeast cells. Decreased weight ratio of aqueous phase to oil phase
resulted in increased encapsulation efficiency of the cells. The diameter of the microcapsules could be controlled by varying

The effect of microstructure on crack morphology under a Vickers indentation was studied using 20 various silicon nitride ceramics including bearing-grade silicon nitrides. The indentation load was decreased from 98 N to 9.8 N and a transition of the crack types from half-penny crack to radial one was observed with both decoration method and serial sectioning technique. All of the indented samples possessed the half-penny cracks at the load of 98 N. The transition of crack profiles in the samples with coarse microstructure occurred when the load decreased from 49 N to 19.6 N, whereas the transition load for the sample with fine microstructure was ~9.8 N. Half-penny cracks were formed regardless of the microstructures when the ratio of the half of crack length to the half of diagonal size of an indentation, c/a, was above ~2. The dependence of the transition load on both Vickers hardness and fracture resistances was analyzed using Pajares's equation. 相似文献
