Recent advances in high-purity and high-yield catalytic chemical vapor deposition (CVD) generation of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) from alcohol are comprehensively presented and discussed on the basis of results obtained from both experimental and numerical investigations. We have uniquely adopted alcohol as a carbon feedstock, and this has resulted in high-quality, low-temperature synthesis of SWNTs. This technique can produce SWNTs even at a very low temperature of 550 degrees C, which is about 300 degrees C lower than the conventional CVD methods in which methane or acetylene is typically used. We demonstrate the excellence of the proposed alcohol catalytic CVD method for high-yield production of SWNTs when Fe-Co on USY-zeolite powder was used as a catalyst. At optimum CVD conditions, a SWNT yield of more than 40 wt % was achieved over the weight of the catalytic powder within the reaction time of 120 min. In addition to the advantages for mass production, this method is also suitable for the direct synthesis of high-quality SWNTs on Si and quartz substrates when combined with the newly developed liquid-based "dip-coat" technique to mount catalytic metals on the surface of substrates. This method allows easy and costless loading of catalytic metals without the need for any support or underlayer materials that were usually required in previous studies for the generation of a sufficient quantity of SWNTs on an Si surface. Finally, the result of molecular dynamics simulation for the SWNT growth process is presented to obtain a fundamental insight into the initial growth mechanism on the catalytic particles.  相似文献

Instrumentation and monitoring systems in a nuclear power plant are very important to monitor plant conditions for safe operations and a plant shutdown. The severe accident at TOKYO ELECTRIC POWER COMPANY's Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station (hereinafter called as TF1) in March 2011 caused several severe situations such as core damage, hydrogen explosion, etc. Lessons learned from the severe accident at TF1 show that an appropriate operable instrumentation and monitoring system for a severe accident should be developed so that the system will deliver an appropriate performance for mitigation of severe accident condition in a nuclear power plant.

This paper proposes the classification method of severe accident condition for the development of an appropriate operable instrumentation and monitoring system for a severe accident based on the problem analysis of monitoring variables during the severe accident at TF1. The classification is formed on the basis of the integrity of boundary for plant safety and the successful (or unsuccessful) condition of the cooling water injection, and is used for an establishment of defining severe accident environmental conditions for the instrumentation and monitoring system. Single crystals of hydroxyapatite were grown by a flux method using Ca3(PO4)2 and Ca(OH)2 under 100 MPa of Ar gas. The crystals obtained had stoichiometric composition of Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2 and some of them were twin-free single crystals. From X-ray diffraction analyses, the space group was confirmed to be monoclinic P21/b with cell parameters a=0.9419(3) nm, b=1.8848(6) nm, c=0.6884(2) nm, and =119.98(2)°. The detailed crystal structure was determined with a reliability factor Rw=0.033; the O atoms of OH were located just on the 21 axis while the H atoms of OH occupied the positions a little deviated from the 21 axis. The origin of this structure was ascribed to the formation of hydrogen bonds between the H atoms of the OH ions and the specific O atoms of the PO4 ions.  相似文献

We present a theoretical analysis exploring the optimum design of high-speed multiple-quantum-well (MQW) lasers for 1.55-μm operation. Various combinations of well and barrier materials are examined for lattice-matched, strained-layered (SL), and strain-compensated (SC) MQW lasers with InGaAsP and InGaAlAs barriers. The gain characteristics are investigated for these MQW lasers with various barrier bandgap wavelengths and are used to evaluate the modulation characteristics based on the carrier dynamics model which includes a set of Poisson, continuity, and rate equations. The importance of band engineering aimed at simultaneously reducing the carrier transport effect and enhancing the differential gain is described. It is shown that SC-MQW lasers with InGaAlAs barriers have an advantage in reducing the density of states in the valence band by reducing the overlap integral between the heavy- and light-hole wave functions, which effect has previously been discarded as a minor correction in designing conventional InGaAsP-based MQW lasers. Furthermore, the hole transport rate across the barriers can be drastically reduced in SC-MQW lasers due to the reduced effective barrier height for the holes. Based on this novel design scheme, a 3-dB bandwidth approaching 70 GHz is expected for 20-well SC-MQW lasers with InGaAlAs barriers as a result of both the large differential gain and reduced transport effect  相似文献

Reduction of un-doped magnetite is developed topochemically with the formation of a dense iron shell. However, the reduction of alumina-doped magnetite to wüstite proceeds with the formation of a network-like structure which consists of criss-crossed horizontal and vertical plates of wüstite. Reduction of magnetite includes the conversion of Fe3+ to Fe2+ and the movement of iron cations from the tetrahedral sites on the {400} and {220} planes of magnetite to the octahedral sites on the {200} planes of wüstite. Alumina has a negligibly small solubility in wüstite. In the reduction of magnetite doped with Al2O3, rejected Al3+ cations from wüstite diffuse to the magnetite–hercynite solid solution. Enrichment of the Fe3O4–FeAl2O4 solution with alumina in the vicinity of the reduction interface restricts the growth of {220} planes of wüstite and nucleation of {220} planes adjusted to the existing planes, preventing the merging of wüstite plates during the reduction process. Reduction of magnetite from the magnetite–hercynite solid solution practically stops when the Al3+ content at the interface approaches the solubility limit. Wüstite in the separated plates is reduced further to iron.  相似文献

The high-precision torque control of a reluctance motor for servo applications is described. The prototype is a three-phase, eight-pole reluctance motor driven by a MOSFET inverter. The current control and the speed control are performed by software of the digital signal processor TMS 32010. The motor is supplied by sinusoidal current, and two current control methods are proposed. One is based on a vector control principle to achieve the linearity between current and torque, and another is developed to obtain the maximum torque/current ratio. Due to the saliency, the instantaneous torque contains a large ripple component. In the case of the test motor, the torque ripple was as much as 26% of the rated torque under sinusoidal current drive. The experiment showed that the ripple component could be reduced to 6% by superimposing a compensation current component on the current reference  相似文献

A novel substrate {Galβ1,4GlcNAcβ1,4GlcNAc-β-pNP [Gal(GlcNAc)2-β-pNP]} for assaying lysozyme activity has been designed using docking simulations and enzymatic synthesis via β-1,4-galactosyltransferase-mediated transglycosylation from UDP-Gal as the donor to (GlcNAc)2-β-pNP as the acceptor. Hydrolysis of the synthesized Gal(GlcNAc)2-β-pNP and related compounds using hen egg-white lysozyme (HEWL) demonstrated that the substrate was specifically cleaved to Gal(GlcNAc)2 and p-nitrophenol (pNP). A combination of kinetic studies and docking simulation was further conducted to elucidate the mode of substrate binding. The results demonstrate that Gal(GlcNAc)2-β-pNP selectively binds to a subsite of lysozyme to liberate the Gal(GlcNAc)2 and pNP products. The work therefore describes a new colorimetric method for quantifying lysozyme on the basis of the determination of pNP liberated from the substrate.  相似文献
