Inert liquid tracer concentrations in a continuous mixer are analyzed by planar laser induced fluorescence (PLIF). Special attention is paid to the two separated entering feed streams containing the tracer solution or pure solvent. From the instantaneous tracer concentration fields, the method proposed allows one to easily calculate the instantaneous supersaturation fields, which would be obtained in the same mixing device with reagents instead of an inert tracer solution and pure solvent. A typical mixing situation in a stirred tank with separated feed streams is investigated. Maps of averaged supersaturation and averaged nucleation flux are yielded with high spatial resolution of a few tens of micrometers for each pixel. The method gives interesting indications about the ability of a given precipitator geometry to generate coarse or fine particles. However, it cannot be extended straightforward to partially premixed feed streams without the use of a mixing model.  相似文献

A promising and original method to study the spin‐transition in bistable spin‐crossover (SCO) materials using a magnetoresistive multiring sensor and its self‐generated magnetic field is reported. Qualitative and quantitative studies are carried out combining theoretical and experimental approaches. The results show that only a small part of matter dropped on the sensor surface is probed by the device. At a low bias‐current range, the number of detected nanoparticles depends on the amplitude of the current. However, in agreement with the theoretical model, the stray voltage from the particles is proportional to the current squared. By changing both the bias current and the concentration of particle droplet, the thermal hysteresis of an ultrasmall volume, 1 × 10?4 mm3, of SCO particles is measured. The local probe of the experimental setup allows a highest resolution of 4 × 10?14 emu to be reached, which is never achieved by experimental methods at room temperature.  相似文献

Image compression is a process based on reducing the redundancy of the image to be stored or transmitted in an efficient form. In this work, a new idea is proposed, where we take advantage of the redundancy that appears in a group of images to be all compressed together, instead of compressing each image by itself. In our proposed technique, a classification process is applied, where the set of the input images are classified into groups based on existing technique like L1 and L2 norms, color histograms. All images that belong to the same group are compressed based on dividing the images of the same group into sub-images of equal sizes and saving the references into a codebook. In the process of extracting the different sub-images, we used the mean squared error for comparison and three blurring methods (simple, middle and majority blurring) to increase the compression ratio. Experiments show that varying blurring values, as well as MSE thresholds, enhanced the compression results in a group of images compared to JPEG and PNG compressors.  相似文献

Coupled surface-atmosphere models are being used with increased frequency to make predictions of tropospheric chemistry on a 'future' earth characterized by a warmer climate and elevated atmospheric CO2 concentration. One of the key inputs to these models is the emission of isoprene from forest ecosystems. Most models in current use rely on a scheme by which global change is coupled to changes in terrestrial net primary productivity (NPP) which, in turn, is coupled to changes in the magnitude of isoprene emissions. In this study, we conducted measurements of isoprene emissions at three prominent global change experiments in the United States. Our results showed that growth in an atmosphere of elevated CO2 inhibited the emission of isoprene at levels that completely compensate for possible increases in emission due to increases in aboveground NPP. Exposure to a prolonged drought caused leaves to increase their isoprene emissions despite reductions in photosynthesis, and presumably NPP. Thus, the current generation of models intended to predict the response of isoprene emission to future global change probably contain large errors. A framework is offered as a foundation for constructing new isoprene emission models based on the responses of leaf biochemistry to future climate change and elevated atmospheric CO2 concentrations.  相似文献

Cemented paste backfill(CPB) is extensively used for underground mine support and/or tailings management.However,CPB behavior under cyclic loadings might be affected by the chemistry of its porewater,which often contains sulphate ions.Till today,no studies have addressed the effect of sulphate on the response of CPB to cyclic loadings by using shaking table technique.This study presents new findings of assessing the effect of the sulphate in the pore water of CPB on its geotechnical response to cyclic loading by using shaking table.CPB mixtures were prepared(with and without sulphate),poured into a flexible laminar shear box,cured to 4 h,and then exposed to cyclic loading using one-dimensional(1D) shaking table.Several parameters(e.g.pore water pressure,settlement,lateral deformation,acceleration,electrical conductivity,effective stress,and liquefaction susceptibility) were monitored or determined before,during,and after shaking.Obtained results indicate that the sulphate-bearing CPB cured to 4 h can be prone to liquefaction under the studied conditions.However,sulphate-free CPB samples are resistant to liquefaction.These results are expected to contribute to a better understanding of the effect of water chemistry on the cyclic behavior of CPB,consequently enhancing the cost-effective design of CPB structures.  相似文献

HIV type 1 (HIV-1) not only directly kills infected CD4(+) T cells but also induces immunosuppression of uninfected T cells. Two immunosuppressive proteins, interferon alpha (IFNalpha) and extracellular Tat, mediate this process because specific antibodies against these proteins prevent generation of suppressor cells in HIV-1-infected peripheral blood mononuclear cell cultures. Furthermore, the production of C-C chemokines in response to immune cell activation, initially enhanced by IFNalpha and Tat, ultimately is inhibited by these proteins in parallel with their induction of immunosuppression. The clinical corollary is the immunosuppression of uninfected T cells and the decline in C-C chemokine release found at advanced stages of HIV-1 infection paralleling rising levels of IFNalpha and extracellular Tat. We, therefore, suggest that IFNalpha and Tat may be critical targets for anti-AIDS strategies.  相似文献

The average supersaturation field is predicted for precipitations in the case of partially premixed feed streams by a simple mixing model from a couple of successive experiments with the same inert tracer by Planar Laser Induced Fluorescence and using a single camera. Then, the mathematical derivation is different from that one used for the unmixed feed case. The corresponding experiments have been achieved in a 90° impinging jets premixer and the supersaturation field was predicted. Due to the non-simultaneity of tracer experiments, a calculation of the averaged nucleation flux is not possible in the premixed feed case. Nevertheless, a comparison between different premixers can be done on the basis of the generated supersaturation levels and fouling risks.  相似文献
