The Severity Indices of Personality Problems (SIPP–118; Verheul et al., 2008) is a self-report questionnaire focusing on core components of (mal)adaptive personality functioning. The SIPP–118 was developed and validated in an adult population. In adult populations, the 16 facets of the SIPP–118 fit into 5 higher order domains: self-control, identity integration, relational capacities, social concordance, and responsibility. In this study we present the 1st psychometric properties of the SIPP–118 in adolescents. We compared the SIPP–118 scores of a patient and a nonpatient sample of adolescents, and compared personality disordered and non-personality disordered adolescents. In addition, the relationship between scores on the SIPP–118 and other clinical instruments (Symptom Checklist—90–Revised; SCL–90–R; Derogatis, 1975; Dimensional Assessment of Personality Pathology—Basic Personality; DAPP–BQ; Livesley & Jackson, 2002) was investigated. The questionnaires were completed by 378 adolescent patients and 389 adolescents in the community. Facets appeared to be homogeneous, as alpha coefficients ranged from .62 to .89, indicating moderate to acceptable reliability. Also, more pathological SIPP–118 scores were found in the patient sample, and more specifically in the personality disordered sample, suggesting that the facet scores of the SIPP–118 can discriminate between various populations (divergent validity). Correlation with other clinical instruments was moderate to high (–.82 to .10). Taken together, the SIPP–118 seems to be a promising instrument measuring personality pathology in adolescents. Earthworms take up organic compounds through their skin as well as from their food, but the quantitative contribution of each route is unclear. In this contribution, we experimentally validate an accumulation model containing a separate compartment for the gut. Uptake from the gut is modeled as passive diffusion from the dissolved phase in the gut contents. For the experiments, we exposed Eisenia andrei in artificial soil spiked with tetrachlorobenzene, hexachlorobenzene, and PCB 153. Apart from the standard accumulation and elimination experiments, we ligatured the worm (using tissue adhesive) to prevent feeding. Model fits were good, thus supporting the validity of the model. The contribution of the gut route increased with increasing hydrophobicity of the chemical, and for PCB 153 the gut route clearly dominated. Despite the importance of the gut route, the final steady-state body residues did not exceed equilibrium partitioning predictions by more than 25%. Rate constants for exchange across the skin and the gut wall could be separately identified. The rate constant across the skin decreases with K(ow) but was generally higher than data derived from water-only exposure. The relationship with hydrophobicity was less clear for the rate constant across the gut wall.  相似文献

Dissolved organic matter (DOM) in surface waters affects the fate and environmental effects of trace metals. We measured variability in the Cd, Cu, Ni, and Zn affinity of 23 DOM samples isolated by reverse osmosis from freshwaters in natural, agricultural, and urban areas. Affinities at uniform pH and ionic composition were assayed at low, environmentally relevant free Cd, Cu, Ni, and Zn activities. The C-normalized metal binding of DOM varied 4-fold (Cu) or about 10-fold (Cd, Ni, Zn) among samples. The dissolved organic carbon concentration ranged only 9-fold in the waters, illustrating that DOM quality is an equally important parameter for metal complexation as DOM quantity. The UV-absorbance of DOM explained metal affinity only for waters receiving few urban inputs, indicating that in those waters, aromatic humic substances are the dominant metal chelators. Larger metal affinities were found for DOM from waters with urban inputs. Aminopolycarboxylate ligands (mainly EDTA) were detected at concentrations up to 0.14 μM and partly explained the larger metal affinity. Nickel concentrations in these surface waters are strongly related to EDTA concentrations (R2=0.96) and this is underpinned by speciation calculations. It is concluded that metal complexation in waters with anthropogenic discharges is larger than that estimated with models that only take into account binding on humic substances.  相似文献

Two co-initial reductions in a term rewriting system are said to be equivalent if they perform the same steps, albeit maybe in a different order. We present four characterisations of such a notion of equivalence, based on permutation, standardisation, labelling and projection, respectively. We prove that the characterisations all yield the same notion of equivalence, for the class of first-order left-linear term rewriting systems. The influence of gas density on total external liquid hold-up, pressure drop and gas-liquid interfacial area, under trickle-flow conditions, and the transition to pulse flow have been investigated with nitrogen or helium as the gas phase up to 7.5 MPa. It is concluded that the hydrodynamics depends on the gas density and not on the reactor pressure. At higher gas densities, the operating region for trickle flow becomes larger while the gas-liquid interfacial area increases only slightly. Pressure gradient and liquid hold-up are considerably affected by gas density and correlations have been derived for these parameters.  相似文献

Copper is mobilized in soil by dissolved organic matter (DOM) but the role of DOM quality in this process is unclear. A one-step resin-exchange method was developed to measure the Cu-Mobilizing-Potential (CuMP) of DOM at pCu 11.3 and pH 7.0, representing background values. The CuMP of DOM was measured in soil solutions of 13 uncontaminated soils with different DOM extraction methods. The CuMP, expressed per unit dissolved organic carbon (DOC), varied 10-fold and followed the order water extracts > 0.01 M CaCl2 extracts > pore water. Soil solutions, obtained from soils that were stored air-dry for a long time or were subjected to drying-wetting cycles, had elevated DOC concentration, but the DOM had a low CuMP. Prolonged soil incubations decreased the DOC concentration and increased the CuMP, suggesting that most of the initially elevated DOM is less humified and has lower Cu affinity than DOM remaining after incubation. A significant positive correlation between the specific UV-absorption of DOM (indicating aromaticity) and CuMP was found for all DOM samples (R(2) = 0.58). It is concluded that the DOC concentration in soil is an insufficient predictor for the Cu mobilization and that DOM samples isolated from air-dried soils are distinct from those of soils kept moist.  相似文献

The monitoring of relative blood volume changes (DeltaRBV) has been advocated for the prevention of hemodialysis (HD) hypotension. Stand-alone devices (Crit-Line) or devices incorporated into the HD apparatus (blood volume monitor [BVM], Hemoscan) are widely used for this purpose. Comparisons between devices are scarce. The aim of this study was, first, to compare DeltaRBV results from these 3 devices with DeltaRBV calculated from changes in laboratory-derived hemoglobin (DeltaRBV-lab-Hb) and, second, to compare DeltaRBV results between the different devices. Fourteen patients received 2 HD treatments in a randomized order: one with the Hemoscan and Crit-Line combination and one with the BVM and Crit-Line combination. DeltaRBV-lab-Hb was measured at 2 and 4 hr into the HD session. Bland-Altman analyses showed that DeltaRBV results from the 3 devices differed systematically from DeltaRBV-lab-Hb, i.e., the difference between the 3 devices and DeltaRBV-lab-Hb varied significantly (p<0.05) with the magnitude of the measurement. The interdevice comparison showed considerable differences in DeltaRBV results. At the end of the treatment, a significant difference (p<0.05) between DeltaRBV measured by the Hemoscan and Crit-Line device (-9.8+/-2.7% and -11.5+/-4%, respectively) was found. In most patients, a systematic difference between Crit-Line and Hemoscan and between Crit-Line and BVM was observed. Relative blood volume change measurements by Crit-Line, Hemoscan, and BVM yield results that differ systematically from the results obtained from laboratory-derived Hb changes. Furthermore, there are substantial differences in DeltaRBV results between the 3 DeltaRBV devices.  相似文献

The ability to steer optical beams, crucial to the operation of high-speed optical wireless links may be achieved using optical phased array antennas which have significant potential in this application. The beam formed by the phased array antennas is steered by tuning the relative phase difference between the adjacent antenna elements which may be achieved nonmechanically. In this paper, the characteristics and behaviour of two dimensional optical phased arrays with a structure composed of 2?×?2, 4?×?4, and 16?×?16 antenna elements in beam steering are verified. The wavelength beam steering of ?0.16°/nm is measured along the θ direction with a required steering range (between main lobes) of 1.97° within a ?3 dB envelop of 5° extent in the θ direction and 7° extent in the Φ direction. To achieve two-dimensional beam steering, thermo-optic beam steering can be used in Φ direction. It is found that the thermo-optic phase tuning departs the expected quadratic dependence and is well characterised by a quartic dependence upon heater current or voltage.  相似文献
