Numerical modeling of gravitational waves in the ocean by the double-layer potential method

The problem of wave structure formation on a water surface for a prescribed initial disturbance is considered. A method of modeling gravitational waves is suggested in which the velocity potential of the liquid is sought in the form of a double-layer potential. The method suggested is tested by solving the problem of wave propagation on shallow water. Calculations of formation of a wave train from the initial disturbance are made in the case of periodic motion in a two-dimensional model (the problem of Stokes waves). The results of the calculations have demonstrated the high effectiveness of the suggested method in solving problems in which it is necessary to determine a wave profile with good accuracy.     

Features of formation and the structure,composition, and properties of electrospark coatings on the ZhS6U nickel alloy with the use of the KhTN-61 SHS-Ts alloy

Features of the mass transfer of a KhTN-61 SHS-Ts electrode material onto a substrate of a ZhS6U nickel alloy with a variation in frequency (1000–1400 Hz) and time (25–70 μs) of pulsed discharges was studied. A complex of studies of the structure, composition, and properties of the formed coatings was carried out. The optimum frequency-energetic mode of the treatment (E = 0.30 J, f = 1000 Hz, and τ = 50 μs), which was characterized by a high rate of coating at a satisfactory degree of the roughness of the surface layer, is found. As a result of electrospark alloying (ESA) at the optimum energetic parameters, 40-μm-thick coatings with a uniformity of 95% and a microhardness of 5.2 GPa form on the surface of the nickel alloy. The ESA treatment of a ZhS6U nickel alloy with the use of KhTN-61 SHS-Ts electrode material allows us to enhance its wear resistance (by more than a factor of 10), hardness (by a factor of 2), and heat resistance, as well as to decrease (by a factor of 5) the friction coefficient.

Sintered,iron-based material with improved machinability

Conclusions With alloying of ZhGr1D3 material with molybdenum and sulfur by the addition to the charge of 1.5% molybdenum disulfide in place of zinc stearate lamellar sulfides and oxysulfides are formed in the structure in place of hard oxides, which provides an improvement in the machinability of the sintered material as a result of a decrease in impact loads on the cutting tool. The ZhGr1D3M1K0.5 material obtained as a result of such alloying presses better and has higher strength properties than ZhGr1D3 material obtained as a result of such alloying presses better and a higher strength properties than ZhGr1D3 material with the same level of plasticity, hardness, and corrosion resistance.Institute of Metallurgy, Ural Scientific Center, Academy of Sciences of the USSR. Induction heat treatment of parts for VAZ passenger cars

The use of protected small-sized frequency converters for heating parts for hardening in combination with various quenching apparatuses designed for specific parts makes it possible to conduct heat treatment directly on the technological lines of the mechanical shops with a full production cycle. This envisages a high level of mechanization up to complete automation and the shortest production cycle without creating large interoperational reserves. Ionization in a Combustion Wave

The reaction mechanism and kinetics of self-propagating high-temperature synthesis in a Ti₅Si₃ system are experimentally studied. The Langmuir probe and optical spectroscopy are used to determine the composition and degree of ionization of the gas phase formed due to the combustion-induced degassing of impurities. The propagation of the combustion wave is shown to be accompanied by ionization of released gases, both the ion concentrations and electron temperatures being determined. Through a comparison between the data obtained and spectroscopic data, the ion species are identified. Key words: Combustion wave, gas phase, ionization, ion concentration, electron temperature.
