Workplace AIDS training is a recent addition to many corporations' occupational health agenda. However, little is known about the objectives, content, and practices of AIDS training programs. A survey of 126 workplace AIDS trainers was conducted to determine the impact of the trainer's organizational affiliation (in-house, consultant, union, etc.) and personal motives on training program objectives, content, and practices. Results indicate that the organizational affiliation of trainers is significantly related to training objectives, topics, and practices, whereas strong personal motives for becoming an AIDS trainer is significantly associated with an emphasis on more controversial content areas and training practices. Findings are discussed in terms of applicability to other values-oriented training topics, applications to practice, and future research needs. 相似文献

We developed new heat-resisting transparent conductive oxide (TCO) films with resistivity of 1.4×10−4 Ω cm, an optical transmittance of above 80% (at 550 nm) and heat-resisting temperature at above 600 °C. The TCO films consists of fluorine-doped tin oxide films coated on indium–tin oxide films. They were prepared by a spray pyrolysis deposition method on glass substrates. The 100×100 mm2 dye-sensitized solar cells (DSCs) were prepared with the TCO films. An energy conversion efficiency of the DSC was improved drastically in comparison to the case with conventional TCO films. 相似文献

Poly (tetrafluoroethylene-co-perfluoroalkylvinylether) (PFA) was irradiated by soft electron beam (soft-EB) under nitrogen gas atmosphere in solid-state and its molten state, respectively. The changes of thermal property and chemical structures of irradiated PFA in solid-state and molten state were studied by differential scanning calorimetric analysis (DSC) and solid-state 19F magic angle spinning (MAS) nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. By DSC analysis, the melting temperature shifted to lower temperatures, and crystallinity decreased with increasing soft-EB dose. By solid-state 19F MAS NMR spectroscopy, the new signals was observed and the detected new signals in irradiated PFA at 315 °C and at 30 °C were due to the tertiary carbon group with branching site (Y-type crosslinking site), perfluoro-propylene site and chain end methylene groups, respectively.Moreover, the molar ratio of perfluoroalkylvinylether (FAVE) structure to -CF2- units decreased with increasing dose. 相似文献

Young's modulus and Poisson's ratio of SiC ceramics at temperatures >1400°C were obtained using a laser ultrasonics method that included a Fabry-Pérot interferometer (LUFP). At temperatures <1000°C, Young's modulus and Poisson's ratio measured using the LUFP method agreed well with those measured using standard contact methods, such as the resonance method and the ultrasonic pulse method. These results showed that the LUFP method is a powerful tool for measuring high-temperature elastic properties of advanced ceramics in a noncontact manner. 相似文献

Although amorphous silica nanoparticles are widely used in the production of food products (e.g., as anticaking agents), there is little information available about their absorption and biological effects after oral exposure. Here, we examined the in vitro intestinal absorption and in vivo biological effects in mice of orally administered amorphous silica particles with diameters of 70, 300, and 1,000 nm (nSP70, mSP300, and mSP1000, respectively) and of nSP70 that had been surface-modified with carboxyl or amine groups (nSP70-C and nSP70-N, respectively). Analysis of intestinal absorption by means of the everted gut sac method combined with an inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometer showed that the intestinal absorption of nSP70-C was significantly greater than that of nSP70. The absorption of nSP70-N tended to be greater than that of nSP70; however, the results were not statistically significant. Our results indicate that silica nanoparticles can be absorbed through the intestine and that particle diameter and surface properties are major determinants of the degree of absorption. We also examined the biological effects of the silica particles after 28-day oral exposure in mice. Hematological, histopathological, and biochemical analyses showed no significant differences between control mice and mice treated with the silica particles, suggesting that the silica nanoparticles evaluated in this study are safe for use in food production. 相似文献

Arsenic is present at high concentrations in the upper layer of Lake Biwa sediments and shows a depth profile similar to that of Mn. Adsorption experiments of As onto synthetic hydrous Mn oxide (HMO) in the presence of Mn2+ and the speciation of Mn in the sediment cores, suggest that the accumulation of As at the sediment surface results from post-depositional migration of arsenite in the sediment pore water followed by oxidation to arsenate at the sediment surface and adsorption onto Mn2+-rich HMO. 相似文献

Nonenzymatic reactions between glucose and proteins yield advanced glycation end products (AGE) such as pentosidine. AGE accumulate in diabetic patients, alter the structure and function of tissue proteins, stimulate cellular response, and have thus been implicated in diabetic tissue damage. The present study was undertaken to assess the factors determining plasma total pentosidine level in diabetic patients and the possible relation between plasma pentosidine level and diabetic complications. In diabetic patients, including patients with renal failure, plasma pentosidine levels, assessed by HPLC assay, were correlated with serum creatinine (P < 0.0001). In patients with normal renal function, pentosidine levels were correlated with blood glucose control (hemoglobin Alc: P = 0.0028; fructoselysine: P = 0.0133), serum creatinine (P = 0.029), patient age (P = 0.0416), duration of diabetes (P = 0.0431), and total cholesterol (P = 0.0056) and LDL-cholesterol (P = 0.0208). Multiple regression analysis revealed an independent influence of hemoglobin Alc and serum creatinine on pentosidine levels (r2 = 0.216, P = 0.0026). Pentosidine levels were higher in patients with than in those without hypertension (P = 0.043) or ischemic heart diseases (P = 0.0061). No such differences were observed between patients with and without albuminuria or retinopathy. Multiple regression analysis revealed an independent influence of plasma pentosidine on the presence of hypertension (r2 = 0.129, P = 0.0382) and of plasma pentosidine and HDL-cholesterol on the presence of ischemic heart disease (r2 = 0.326, P = 0.0012). The present study demonstrated that plasma pentosidine level was significantly influenced by the quality of glycemic control and renal function. Pentosidine level was also correlated with hypertension and ischemic heart disease, and might be taken as a biomarker of diabetic cardiovascular risk. 相似文献

KT3-671 (2-propyl-8-oxo-1-[(2'-(1H-tetrazole-5-yl)biphenyl-4-yl)methyl]-4,5,6, 7-tetrahydrocycloheptimidazole), a structurally new nonpeptide angiotensin AT1-receptor antagonist, was administered orally and repeatedly to 15-week-old stroke-prone spontaneously hypertensive rats for 7 weeks; and its effects on blood pressure, heart rate, renal function, plasma renin concentration (PRC), plasma aldosterone concentration (PAC) and hypertension-related tissue damage in the brain, heart, kidney and mesenteric artery were investigated. KT3-671 at a dose of 3 or 10 mg/kg, p.o. per day prevented development of hypertension and produced a significant and consistent reduction of blood pressure in a dose-dependent manner. Enalapril at a dose of 10 mg/kg per day produced cardiovascular effects similar to those of KT3-671 at 10 mg/kg. Despite marked reduction in blood pressure, neither KT3-671 nor enalapril affected the heart rate. KT3-671 at 10 mg/kg produced a transient and significant reduction of urinary sodium excretion in the second week, but did not affect renal function at any other time during the experimental period. Both KT3-671 at 10 mg/kg and enalapril at 10 mg/kg produced a significant increase in PRC and showed a tendency to decrease PAC. Repeated administration of KT3-671 reduced the severity of the pathological changes in the kidney. These results suggest that KT3-671 is a potentially useful antihypertensive drug. 相似文献
