A combined hyperbolic radiation and conduction heat transfer model is developed to simulate multi-time-scale heat transfer in turbid tissues exposed to short-pulsed irradiations. An initial temperature response of a tissue to an ultrashort pulse irradiation is analyzed by the volume-average method in combination with the transient discrete ordinates method for modeling the ultrafast radiation heat transfer. This response is found to reach pseudo steady state within 1 ns for the considered tissues. The single pulse result is then utilized to obtain the temperature response to pulse train irradiation at the microsecond/millisecond time scales. After that, the temperature field is predicted by the hyperbolic heat conduction model which is solved by the MacCormack's scheme with error terms correction. Finally, the hyperbolic conduction is compared with the traditional parabolic heat diffusion model. It is found that the maximum local temperatures are larger in the hyperbolic prediction than the parabolic prediction. In the modeled dermis tissue, a 7% non-dimensional temperature increase is found. After about 10 thermal relaxation times, thermal waves fade away and the predictions between the hyperbolic and parabolic models are consistent.  相似文献

Automatic test-pattern generation (ATPG) algorithms for analog circuits have been under intense investigation for the last several years. As system design aggressively moves to system-on-a-chip (SoC) and core-based integration, hierarchical analog ATPG emerges as an even more difficult challenge. Attempts to develop an effective algorithm have had varying degrees of success. This article reviews some fundamental issues and recent work in hierarchical analog ATPG and presents an algorithm based on controllability and observability computation. In machine translation, collocation dictionaries are important for selecting accurate target words. However, if the dictionary size is too large it can decrease the efficiency of translation. This paper presents a method to develop a compact collocation dictionary for transitive verb–object pairs in English–Korean machine translation without losing translation accuracy. We use WordNet to calculate the semantic distance between words, and k-nearestneighbor learning to select the translations. The entries in the dictionary are minimized to balance the trade-off between translation accuracy and time. We have performed several experiments on a selected set of verbs extracted from a raw corpus of over 3 million words. The results show that in real-time translation environments the size of a collocation dictionary can be reduced up to 40% of its original size without significant decrease in its accuracy.  相似文献

There is rapidly increasing interest in Location Based Service (LBS) which utilizes location data of moving objects. To efficiently manage the huge amounts of location data in LBS, the GALIS (Gracefully Aging Location Information System) architecture, a cluster-based distributed computing architecture, is proposed. The GALIS using the non-uniform 2-level grid algorithm performs load balancing and indexing for nodes. However, the non-uniform 2-level grid algorithm has a problem creating unnecessary nodes when moving objects are crowded in a certain region. Therefore, a new node split algorithm, which is more efficient for various distribution of moving objects, is proposed in this paper. Because the algorithm proposed in this paper considers spatial distribution for the current location of moving objects, it can perform efficient load balancing without creating unnecessary nodes even when moving objects are congested in a certain region. Besides, the various data distribution configuration for moving objects has been experimented by implementing node split simulators and it’s been verified that the proposed algorithm can split nodes more efficiently than the existing algorithm.

The purpose of this paper is to optimize OP-vibration performance of 3.5-in. hard disk drive (HDD) spindle motors through theoretical prediction and experimental verification. OP-vibration performance of HDD is closely related to the first rocking vibration of spindle motors because excited frequencies of 3.5-in. HDD from the environment are mostly below 500 Hz and the first rocking vibration is the only resonance in the corresponding frequencies. Therefore, minimizing first rocking vibration leads to improve OP-vibration performance of the spindle motors. In order to minimize the first rocking vibration key parameters of FDB spindle motors were selected from a previous work done by Heo and Shen (Microsyst Technol 11:1204–1213, 2005). Then, the selected parameters have been optimized to minimize the first rocking vibration through a theoretical model developed at University of Washington. Then, experiments with ten prototype FDB spindle motors have been conducted to verify the theoretical results. Each prototype motor has different spindle parameter configurations including bearing coefficients, bearing locations, and center of gravity location, etc. Also, this paper demonstrated that radial measurements of spindle rocking vibration have better correlation with OP-vibration performance than axial measurements through PES measurements. Finally, the optimized design has been manufactured by a motor maker and has also successfully verified the theoretical prediction experimentally.  相似文献

We present a novel low-cost method for visual communication and telepresence in a CAVEtrade-like environment, relying on 2D stereo-based video avatars. The system combines a selection of proven efficient algorithms and approximations in a unique way, resulting in a convincing stereoscopic real-time representation of a remote user acquired in a spatially immersive display. The system was designed to extend existing projection systems with acquisition capabilities requiring minimal hardware modifications and cost. The system uses infrared-based image segmentation to enable concurrent acquisition and projection in an immersive environment without a static background. The system consists of two color cameras and two additional b/w cameras used for segmentation in the near-IR spectrum. There is no need for special optics as the mask and color image are merged using image-warping based on a depth estimation. The resulting stereo image stream is compressed, streamed across a network, and displayed as a frame-sequential stereo texture on a billboard in the remote virtual environment  相似文献

The correspondence between Mario Salvadori and Mauro Picone during the years 1934–1972 sheds light on the history of the Italian Institute for the Applications of Calculation. The IAC was a groundbreaking institution for mathematics in Italy, and great attention was given to the new means of mechanical calculation, first analogue, then electronic. It was in relationship to this that Mario Salvadori consulted with his former professor. The correspondence allows us to see also how that relationship changed from one of student-teacher to one of fellowship between professionals.

Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is a serious kidney complication of diabetes, and constitutes the leading cause of end-stage renal disease. The earliest clinical evidence of DN is microalbuminuria, a term which refers to the appearance of small but abnormal amounts of albumin in the urine. However, screening methods for DN, such as biomarker assays, are yet to be developed for type 2 DN. In the present study, in an attempt to identify the biomarkers for initial diagnoses of type 2 DN, the protein profiles of human sera collected from 30 microalbuminuric type 2 diabetic patients were compared with those collected from 30 normoalbuminuric type 2 diabetic patients, via 2-DE. As a result, a total of 18 spots were determined to have different protein levels in the microalbuminuric patients. Twelve spots had lower protein levels of approximately 50%, and the other six had higher levels of approximately 100-300% as compared to the spots of normoalbuminuric patients. These spots were identified with ESI-Q-TOF (ESI-quadrupole-TOF) MS. Among the identified proteins, vitamin D-binding protein (DBP) and pigment epithelium-derived factor (PEDF) were verified by Western blotting. The results of this study indicate that the DBP may be employed as diagnostic and monitoring biomarkers of type 2 DN, contingent on further study into the matter.  相似文献

A sparser but more efficient connection rule (called a bond-cutoff method) for a simplified alpha-carbon coarse-grained elastic network model is presented. One of conventional connection rules for elastic network models is the distance-cutoff method, where virtual springs connect an alpha-carbon with all neighbor alpha-carbons within predefined distance-cutoff value. However, though the maximum interaction distance between alpha-carbons is reported as 7 angstroms, this cutoff value can make the elastic network unstable in many cases of protein structures. Thus, a larger cutoff value (>11 angstroms) is often used to establish a stable elastic network model in previous researches. To overcome this problem, a connection rule for backbone model is proposed, which satisfies the minimum condition to stabilize an elastic network. Based on the backbone connections, each type of chemical interactions is considered and added to the elastic network model: disulfide bonds, hydrogen bonds, and salt-bridges. In addition, the van der Waals forces between alpha-carbons are modeled by using the distance-cutoff method. With the proposed connection rule, one can make an elastic network model with less than 7 angstroms distance cutoff, which can reveal protein flexibility more sharply. Moreover, the normal modes from the new elastic network model can reflect conformational changes of a given protein better than ones by the distance-cutoff method. This method can save the computational cost when calculating normal modes of a given protein structure, because it can reduce the total number of connections. As a validation, six example proteins are tested. Computational times and the overlap values between the conformational change and infinitesimal motion calculated by normal mode analysis are presented.
