We examine the growth and evolution with time of bipyramidal gold nanoparticles grown by a seed-mediated process. The nanoparticles are characterized both by their physical dimensions determined by transmission electron microscopy and by the wavelength position of their localized surface plasmon resonance. Each growth's physical dimensions correspond to particular initial conditions, and we observe two distinct modes of temporal evolution during growth. The effects of varying silver nitrate concentration and growth time are also explored. We observe a linear relationship between the tip radius of curvature and the wavelength of the longitudinal localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) peak. Critical parameters for synthesizing bipyramidal nanoparticles with sharp tips and correct length to width ratio are determined.  相似文献

A pilot-scale demonstration of surfactant-enhanced aquifer remediation (SEAR) was conducted in July 2000 at the Bachman Road site located in Oscoda, MI. The Bachman aquifer is a shallow, relatively homogeneous, unconfined aquifer formation composed primarily of sandy glacial outwash with relatively low organic carbon content (0.02 wt %). A 6 wt % aqueous solution of Tween 80 (a nonionic, food-grade surfactant) was flushed through a localized dense nonaqueous phase liquid (DNAPL) source zone to recover approximately 19 L of tetrachloroethene (PCE). Post-treatment monitoring revealed PCE concentrations were reduced by up to 2 orders of magnitude within the source zone, and there was no evidence of concentration rebound after more than 450 d. Concentrations of PCE dechlorination products (trichloroethene, cis-1,2-dichloroethene) 450 d after SEAR operations ceased were more than 2 orders of magnitude greater than pretreatment values, suggesting stimulation of native dechlorination activity. Post-treatment monitoring detected increased concentrations of volatile fatty acids generated from the fermentation of residual-level Tween 80 surfactant. These field data suggest that Tween 80 not only induced and maintained anaerobiosis but also provided reducing equivalents to reductively dechlorinating populations present in the oligotrophic Bachman aquifer. Experience from this site supports application of staged treatment strategies that couple SEAR and microbial reductive dechlorination to enhance mass removal and reduce contaminant mass flux emanating from treated source zones.  相似文献

Thirty dairy cows, fed a control diet consisting of silage and concentrates, were given either 0, 1000, or 2000 ppm of supplemental Zn (DM basis), from zinc sulfate monohydrate (ZnSO4.H2O) for most of a lactation. Feeding 2000 ppm Zn decreased milk yield and feed intake after several weeks. Some cows were affected more severely than others. Generally, primiparous animals were more tolerant of the high Zn diet than multiparous cows. Milk Zn was materially higher for cows fed 1000 ppm added Zn than controls. With 2000 ppm Zn, milk Zn was elevated further but returned to control values when the high Zn diet was discontinued. Plasma Zn was higher in cows fed supplemental Zn with the increase from 1000 to 2000 greater than that for the first addition. Plasma Cu was lower in cows feed 2000 ppm Zn but milk Cu was not reduced. Milk fat content was not affected, but protein and SNF were reduced by the 12th wk with the 2000 ppm Zn diet. There was no apparent effect on long-term health or performance after the cows were removed from the 2000 ppm Zn diet. Except for lower calf weights with 2000 ppm Zn, reproductive performance was not measurably affected by the dietary treatments. The 1000 ppm added Zn diet had no adverse effect on the cows in any parameter measured.  相似文献

A secret-sharing scheme realizes a graph if every two vertices connected by an edge can reconstruct the secret while every independent set in the graph does not get any information on the secret. Similar to secret-sharing schemes for general access structures, there are gaps between the known lower bounds and upper bounds on the share size for graphs. Motivated by the question of what makes a graph “hard” for secret-sharing schemes (that is, they require large shares), we study very dense graphs, that is, graphs whose complement contains few edges. We show that if a graph with \(n\) vertices contains \(\left( {\begin{array}{c}n\\ 2\end{array}}\right) -n^{1+\beta }\) edges for some constant \(0 \le \beta <1\), then there is a scheme realizing the graph with total share size of \(\tilde{O}(n^{5/4+3\beta /4})\). This should be compared to \(O(n^2/\log (n))\), the best upper bound known for the total share size in general graphs. Thus, if a graph is “hard,” then the graph and its complement should have many edges. We generalize these results to nearly complete \(k\)-homogeneous access structures for a constant \(k\). To complement our results, we prove lower bounds on the total share size for secret-sharing schemes realizing very dense graphs, e.g., for linear secret-sharing schemes, we prove a lower bound of \(\Omega (n^{1+\beta /2})\) for a graph with \(\left( {\begin{array}{c}n\\ 2\end{array}}\right) -n^{1+\beta }\) edges.  相似文献

125I-glucagon was directly cross-linked to its receptor in isolated adipocyte plasma membranes using a UV irradiation procedure. This investigation resulted in identification of an adipocyte glucagon receptor complex of 62 kDa, present both in white and brown adipose tissues. The specificity of labeling was shown by interference of unlabeled hormone with incorporation of radioactive glucagon into 62 kDa species. Treatment of adipose plasma membranes with N-glycanase resulted in appearance of intermediate species, indicating that the glucagon receptor is modified with several N-linked oligosaccharide chains similarly to the hepatic glucagon receptor. Peptide mapping of the affinity labeled adipose membranes with Staphylococcus aureus V8 protease generated three distinct receptor fragments identical to that of the hepatic receptor. Overall, the biochemical characterization of the rat adipocyte glucagon receptor indicates that it closely resembles the hepatic glucagon receptor.  相似文献
