In this article, we present our investigation and comparison of the SUPG-stabilized finite element formulations for computation of viscous compressible flows based on the conservation and entropy variables. This article is a sequel to the one on inviscid compressible flows by Le Beau et al. (1992). For the conservation variables formulation, we use the SUPG stabilization technique introduced in Aliabadi and Tezduyar (1992), which is a modified version of the one described in Le Beau et al. (1992). The formulation based on the entropy variables is same as the one introduced in Hughes et al. (1986).The two formulations are tested on three different problems: adiabatic flat plate at Mach 2.5, Reynolds number 20,000; Mach 3 compression corner at Reynolds number 16,800; and Mach 6 NACA 0012 airfoil at Reynolds number 10,000. In all cases, we show that the results obtained with the two formulations are very close. This observation is the same as the one we had in Le Beau et al. (1992) for inviscid flows.  相似文献

In this paper a new boundary element formulation is presented for the identification of the location and size of internal flaws in two-dimensional structures. An introduction to inverse analysis is given, with special reference to methods of flaw identification, along with a brief review of the optimization methods employed. Both the standard boundary element and the dual boundary element method are presented, with the dual boundary element method proposed as the basis for the new formulation. The flaw identification method is presented, along with the computation of the boundary displacement and traction derivatives and the specialized analytical integration used for cracked boundaries. Examples are given to demonstrate the accuracy of the sensitivity values and the performance of flaw location.  相似文献

The problem treated is the integration of singular functions which arise in three-dimensional isoparametric formulations of boundary integral equations. A Taylor expansion in the local parametric co-ordinates is developed for the singular integrand, so allowing singular terms to be integrated in closed form, even for curved surface elements. The remainder integral obtained by subtracting out the worst singularities is integrated by repeated Gaussian quadrature. Two groups of tests are presented. First, the accuracy of the integrations has been checked for plane parallelograms (for which exact solutions have been developed) and for curved elements on a sphere. Secondly, results from complete boundary element calculations based on point collocation have been compared with known analytical solutions to two problems; zonal surface harmonics on a sphere and the capacitance of an ellipsoid. The agreement obtained with few degrees-of-freedom suggests that errors which have previously been attributed to point collocation might have arisen in the numerical integration.  相似文献

In this paper, analytical forms of integrals in the meshless local integral equation method in the Laplace space are derived and implemented for elastodynamic problems. The meshless approximation based on the radial basis function (RBF) is employed for implementation of displacements. A weak form of governing equations with a unit test function is transformed into local integral equations. A completed set of the local boundary integrals are obtained in closed form. As the closed form of the local boundary integrals are obtained, there are no domain or boundary integrals to be calculated numerically. Several examples including dynamic fracture mechanics problems are presented to demonstrate the accuracy of the proposed method in comparison with analytical solutions and the boundary element method.  相似文献

A new domain‐boundary element formulation to solve bending problems of shear deformable shallow shells having quadratic mid‐surface is presented. By regrouping all the terms containing shells curvature and external loads together in equilibrium equation, the formulation can be formed by coupling boundary element formulation of shear deformable plate and two‐dimensional plane stress elasticity. The boundary is discretized into quadratic isoparametric element and the domain is discretized using constant cells. Several examples are presented, and the results shows a good agreement with the finite element method. Copyright © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this paper a boundary element formulation for the sensitivity analysis of structures immersed in an inviscide fluid and illuminated by harmonic incident plane waves is presented. Also presented is the sensitivity analysis coupled with an optimization procedure for analyses of flaw identification problems. The formulation developed utilizes the boundary integral equation of the Helmholtz equation for the external problem and the Cauchy–Navier equation for the internal elastic problem. The sensitivities are obtained by the implicit differentiation technique. Examples are presented to demonstrate the accuracy of the proposed formulations. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献
