This paper addresses stochastic correlative learning as the basis for a broadly defined class of statistical learning algorithms known collectively as the algorithm of pattern extraction (ALOPEX) family. Starting with the neurobiologically motivated Hebb's rule, the two conventional forms of the ALOPEX algorithm are derived, followed by a modified variant designed to improve the convergence speed. We next describe two more elaborate versions of the ALOPEX algorithm, which incorporate particle filtering that exemplifies a form of Monte Carlo simulation, to exchange computational complexity for an improved convergence and tracking behavior. In support of the different forms of the ALOPEX algorithm developed herein, we present three different experiments using synthetic and real-life data on binocular fusion of stereo images, on-line prediction, and system identification.  相似文献

In this paper, new recursive structures for computing radix-r two-dimensional (2-D) discrete cosine transform (DCT) and 2-D inverse DCT (IDCT) are proposed. The 2-D DCT/IDCT are first decomposed into cosine-cosine and sine-sine transforms. Based on indexes of transform bases, the regular pre-addition preprocess is established and the recursive structures for 2-D DCT/IDCT, which can be realized in a second-order infinite-impulse response (IIR) filter, are derived without involving any transposition procedure. For computation of 2-D DCT/IDCT, the recursive loops of the proposed structures are less than that of one-dimensional DCT/IDCT recursive structures, which require data transposition to achieve the so-called row-column approach. With advantages of fewer recursive loops and no transposition, the proposed recursive structures achieve more accurate results and less power consumption than the existed methods. The regular and modular properties are suitable for very large-scale integration (VLSI) implementation. By using similar procedures, the recursive structures for 2-D DST and 2-D IDST are also proposed.  相似文献

The paper contains a systematic investigation of practical coding strategies for noncoherent communication over fading channels, guided by explicit comparisons with information-theoretic benchmarks. Noncoherent reception is interpreted as joint data and channel estimation, assuming that the channel is time varying and a priori unknown. We consider iterative decoding for a serial concatenation of a standard binary outer channel code with an inner modulation code amenable to noncoherent detection. For an information rate of about 1/2 bit per channel use, the proposed scheme, using a quaternary phase-shift keying (QPSK) alphabet, provides performance within 1.6-1.7 dB of Shannon capacity for the block fading channel, and is about 2.5-3 dB superior to standard differential demodulation in conjunction with an outer channel code. We also provide capacity computations for noncoherent communication using standard phase-shift keying (PSK) and quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) alphabets; comparing these with the capacity with unconstrained input provides guidance as to the choice of constellation as a function of the signal-to-noise ratio. These results imply that QPSK suffices to approach the unconstrained capacity for the relatively low information and fading rates considered in our performance evaluations, but that QAM is superior to PSK for higher information or fading rates, motivating further research into efficient noncoherent coded modulation with QAM alphabets.  相似文献

This paper presents a method to make vanadium dioxide (VO2) crystallites on silicon substrates by reactive ion beam sputtering. The thickness of the thin film is about 100nm. The phase transition temperature of VO2 is 65°C. The transmittance of the semiconducting phase VO2 is about 50% and it is reduced to as low as 3% in metal phase at the infrared wavelenghth spectrum. The extinction ratio of the optical switches is 12dB. and the insertion loss is of 1-2dB. The switching time is about 1ms.  相似文献

Contents Surface charge accumulation and its decay at a GIS spacer are studied at atmospheric conditions employing a two step-calibration method. The results show that the accumulation saturates within 30 minutes; the dominant mechanism of surface charge accumulation is the drift of charged particles via air, while that of the decay is surface conduction. The characteristics are similar at both polarities.

Übersicht Die Konzentration und das Abklingen von Oberflächenladungen an einem GIS Abstandshalter wurden unter atmosphärischen Bedingungen mit Hilfe eines zweistufigen Kalibrierungsverfahrens untersucht. Die Ergebnisse zeigen eine Sättigung der Ladungskonzentration innerhalb von 30 Minuten. Als Hauptursache der Ladungskonzentration ist die Drift geladener Teilchen in Luft anzusehen, während das Abklingen auf die Oberflächenleitung zurückzuführen ist. Ähnliche Charakteristiken ergeben sich mit beiden Polaritäten.
