Thin CdS films have been grown by chemical bath (CdCl2, thiourea, ammonia) deposition (CBD) on SnO2 (TO)-coated glass substrate for use as window materials in CdS/CdTe solar cells. High-resolution transmission electron microscopy revealed grains with an average size of 10 nm. The structure was predominantly hexagonal with a high density of stacking faults. The film crystallinity improved with annealing in air. Annealing in a CdCl2 flux increased the grain size considerably and reduced the density of stacking faults. The optical transmission of the as-deposited films indicated a band gap energy of 2.41 eV. Annealing in air reduced the band gap by 0.1 eV. Annealing in CdCl2 led to a sharper optical absorption edge that remained at 2.41 eV. Similar band gap values were obtained by photocurrent spectroscopy and electroabsorption spectroscopy (EEA) using an electrolyte contact. EEA spectra were broad for the as-deposited and air-annealed samples, but narrower for the CdCl2-annealed films, reflecting the reduction in stacking fault density. Donor densities of ca. 1017 cm –3 were derived from the film/electrolyte junction capacitance.  相似文献

This paper presents some of the results derived from extensive experimentation on display cases for supermarkets and derives some possible improvements to augment temperature uniformity and energy performance. The effect of the perforation pattern of the rear duct on the distribution of airflow between these and the front curtain is brought out. The critical component is air infiltration across the curtain, which is governed by internal air distribution and curtain characteristics. It is observed that a 70–30 distribution of flow between the curtain and the rear duct perforations yields a performance that satisfies the standards. Further, a judicious distribution of perforations on the rear duct at various levels and across is necessary. Correlations available in the literature are useful in making a qualitative assessment of the results.  相似文献

A novel DNA damage detection technique based on the characteristic fluorescence lifetimes exhibited by Pico-Green-single-stranded DNA and -double-stranded DNA complexes is employed to establish the damage produced on DNA isolated from sheep white blood cells following gamma radiation. This technique, which incorporates key concepts such as alkaline unwinding buffers and higher unwinding rates of damaged DNA compared to undamaged DNA, allows for the differentiation of DNA damage resulting from doses of gamma radiation in the 0-100-Gy range, with the potential of analyzing samples consisting of as little as 10(4) cells. Experiments were carried out using commercial DNA sources as well as DNA isolated from sheep white blood cells, suggesting its potential for use with isolated DNA from virtually any eukaryotic cell.  相似文献

Bismuth–tin binary alloys containing high bismuth concentrations of 40 to 77% were continuously cast into wires of approximately 2 mm in diameter with casting speeds between 15 and 150 mm min?1 using the Ohno Continuous Casting (OCC) process. The microstructure was examined and tensile tests were performed for wires cast at various speeds. It was found that for slowly cast wires containing large primary bismuth dendrites, bismuth fracture occurring along the (111) plane exerted a key role in wire fracture, while microstructures with refined bismuth dendrites exhibited a mixture of bismuth cracks and inter-phase decohesion, allowing the accommodation of larger strain before wire fracture. For wires with microstructures containing primary tin dendrites, inter-phase decohesion played a key role in wire fracture.  相似文献

Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) is the next and forthcoming evolution of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Though there could be significant benefits to society, there are also concerns that AGI could pose an existential threat. The critical role of Human Factors and Ergonomics (HFE) in the design of safe, ethical, and usable AGI has been emphasized; however, there is little evidence to suggest that HFE is currently influencing development programs. Further, given the broad spectrum of HFE application areas, it is not clear what activities are required to fulfill this role. This article presents the perspectives of 10 researchers working in AI safety on the potential risks associated with AGI, the HFE concepts that require consideration during AGI design, and the activities required for HFE to fulfill its critical role in what could be humanity's final invention. Though a diverse set of perspectives is presented, there is broad agreement that AGI potentially poses an existential threat, and that many HFE concepts should be considered during AGI design and operation. A range of critical activities are proposed, including collaboration with AGI developers, dissemination of HFE work in other relevant disciplines, the embedment of HFE throughout the AGI lifecycle, and the application of systems HFE methods to help identify and manage risks.  相似文献

Classical planning systems attempt to solve a planning problem by avoiding possible conflicts before the actions are put on a timeline. This is computationally very expensive and the search for all possible future conflicts may be prohibitive. A conflict resolution approach can check for immediate conflicts and try conflict resolution strategies as each activity is put on a timeline without regard for possible future conflicts. A more practical approach is to use a combination of conflict avoidance and conflict resolution based upon heuristics which limit the amount of search required when either is used. Because humans are not good at solving problems which require complex lookahead, this combined approach, with emphasis on conflict resolution, is what human schedulers actually use when they develop schedules. A system which simulates this human approach to scheduling has been developed at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center for scheduling satellite activities. This system, which includes the Planning And Resource Reasoning (PARR) shell, allows expert schedulers to specify conflict resolution strategies as well as conflict avoidance strategies to be used during the scheduling process. PARR has been used since May 1987 to schedule the Tracking and Data Relay Satellite System services for the Earth Radiation Budget Satellite. PARR will also be used to schedule platform resources on the Explorer Platform, scheduled for launch in early 1992. This paper describes the advantages of using a combined conflict avoidance and resolution approach in a satellite scheduling system.  相似文献

Discusses issues in psychotherapy with older adults and possible future developments in the field. The development of measures to assess the efficacy of various therapeutic interventions with this population is perhaps the most pressing research need. Practice can be improved in a number of ways. More clinicians must become interested in practicing with this population and not view it as a hopeless effort. Therapists must also obtain specialized training in working with the elderly, must adopt a philosophy of care consistent with the aging client, and must have a realistic understanding of what areas of intervention are perceived as most necessary to their clients. Electrostatic patterning has improved the performance of devices incorporating electrospun fibers in a wide variety of applications. However, the impact of process parameters on the final fiber pattern in these systems is rarely analyzed. Herein, a systematic analytical approach is developed to define quantitative metrics related to fiber patterning. Three-dimensional patterned dielectric elastomer collectors are fabricated via solution-casting polydimethylsiloxane with embedded carbon black or liquid metal droplets. Fiber patterning metrics are used to evaluate the effect of collector parameters such as insulating layer thickness, electrical ground surface area, and three-dimensional pattern geometry. Dielectric layer parameters such as conductive material concentration and particle diameter are also investigated. Using this framework, the best-performing collector is shown to improve selectivity 30-fold, uniformity ninefold, reproducibility eightfold, and increase fiber volume by one order of magnitude. Furthermore, eutectic gallium indium liquid metal and scaled-up pattern geometries demonstrate the tunability of this approach and broad applicability of systematic fiber pattern analysis. This rational approach to patterned fiber development can be applied to virtually any method or pattern to better understand the fiber patterning processes.  相似文献
