Chitosan is synthesized by deacetylating chitin with NaOH solution under microwave irradiation. The process describes a rapid synthesis procedure in comparison to conventional methods. The microwave-synthesized chitosan was characterized by Ninhydrin test, Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction measurements. The experimental results show that the degree of deacetylation increased with increasing irradiation time. A degree of deacetylation of 85.3% was achieved after irradiating chitin with 45% NaOH solution in a microwave for 5.5 min at 900-watt power. This method can be very useful for synthesizing low molecular weight chitosan with rapid and clean chemistry.  相似文献

We study the buoyancy-induced interpenetration of two immiscible fluids in a tilted channel by a two-phase lattice Boltzmann method using a non-ideal gas equation of state well-suited for two incompressible fluids. The method is simple, elegant and easily parallelizable. After first validating the code for simulating Rayleigh–Taylor instabilities in a unstably-stratified flow, we applied the code to simulate the buoyancy-induced mixing in a tilted channel at various Atwood numbers, Reynolds numbers, tilt angles, and surface tension parameters. The effects of these parameters are studied in terms of the flow structures, front velocities, and velocity profiles. For one set of parameters, comparisons have also been made with results of a finite volume method. The present results are seen to agree well with those of a finite volume method in the interior of the flow; however near the boundary there is some discrepancy.  相似文献

The amelioration effect of dietary high protein and vitamin C against stress was evaluated in spotted murrel, Channa punctatus, exposed to endosulfan. Two hundred and forty fish (average weight: 27.01 g/fish), distributed equally into 4 different groups (control, T1, T2, and T3), each with 6 replicates were fed with control (40% crude protein, CP and 0.1% vitamin C), T1 (40% CP and 0.1% vitamin C), T2 (50% CP and 0.1% vitamin C), and T3 (50% CP and 0.2% vitamin C) diets for 90 days. Groups fed T1, T2, and T3 diets were exposed to sublethal endosulfan concentration, whereas the control was maintained without endosulfan exposure. Results indicated significant reduction in the growth performance, survival, and activities of lactate dehydrogenase (liver and muscle), malate dehydrogenase (liver and muscle), enzymes of protein metabolism (aspartate amino transferase in liver and alanine amino transferase in liver and muscle), acetyl choline esterase (brain), alkaline phosphatase activity (liver), and ATPase (gill) enzymes of group fed control diet and exposed to endosulfan. However, endosulfan exposed fish fed high CP and vitamin C diet exhibited significant (P < 0.05) improvement in their growth performance and metabolic enzyme activities. Further, high CP and vitamin C diet reduced endosulfan accumulation in the muscle. Overall results indicate that vitamin C (0.2%) supplementation in high CP (50%) diet improves growth, metabolism, and reduce endosulfan bioaccumulation in C. punctatus.  相似文献

Progesterone bearing liposomes were prepared by the cast film method and characterized for various physical attributes. The liposomes could encapsulate nearly 98% of the drug. The progesterone bearing liposomes were incorporated into polyacrylamide gel and the drug content was determined. The in vitro drug dqfusion across she-goat vaginal membrane from the liposomal formulation was found to follow near zero order kinetics. The progestational activity of liposomal and control gel was assessed by monitoring the effect on the formation of corpora lutea. It was observed that both the formulations inhibit the formation of corpora lutea and thus, exhibited progestationul activity but the efsect of liposomal preparation was found to be greater and prolonged as compare to control gel.  相似文献

An Yb-doped fibre laser with a helical core trajectory in the cladding material has been demonstrated for the first time. The laser yields 350 mW of linearly-polarised, single-spatial-mode output at 1047 nm from a multimode core of diameter, 26 /spl mu/m, and numerical aperture, 0.14, when core-pumped by an Yb:YAG laser at 1030 nm.  相似文献

Glial neoplasms of the human central nervous system have defied treatment, in part because of the limited selectivity of available cytotoxic agents. The thymidine analog 5-iodo-2'-deoxyuridine radiolabeled with the Auger electron emitter 125I (125IUdR) is highly toxic to dividing cells when it is deoxyribonucleic acid incorporated, but it is relatively innocuous when located outside the nucleus. Previous studies have shown that 125IUdR has significant antineoplastic potential against mammalian cells in vitro and direct administration of 125IUdR is effective therapy for ovarian ascites tumors in mice and neoplastic meningitis in rats. Studies using external gamma imaging and autoradiography have also shown that direct intratumoral administration of 123IUdR/125IUdR into intracerebral 9L gliosarcomas in rats results in selective uptake of the radionuclide into tumor cells. Based on these encouraging results, we have evaluated the therapeutic potential of 125IUdR in rats bearing intracerebral 9L gliosarcomas. METHODS: Iodine-125-IUdR was infused intracerebrally over a 2-day period into rats bearing 1-day-old 9L tumors and over a 6-day period into animals with 9-day-old 9L tumors; equimolar concentrations of 127IUdR were infused into control animals. Tumor growth was monitored by contrast-enhanced 1H MRI and animal survival was followed over time. RESULTS: Intracerebral tumors (3-7 mm) were readily detected by MRI. Tumor-bearing rats treated with 127IUdR succumbed within 17-24 days, whereas tumor-bearing animals treated with 125IUdR survived significantly longer, and 10%-20% of the animals were cured of tumors. CONCLUSION: These data substantiate the antineoplastic potential of 5-[125I]iodo-2'-deoxyuridine and indicate that it may be a useful agent for the therapy of solid tumors that are accessible to direct radiopharmaceutical administration.  相似文献

A continuous-wave (CW) master oscillator-power amplifier (MOPA) fiber source, tunable around 978 nm, was frequency-doubled to 488.7 nm. Both the laser and the amplifier were made with cladding-pumped jacketed air-clad Yb-doped fibers. The MOPA generated up to 2.7 W of power in an output beam with an M/sup 2/ value of 1.8. This was frequency-doubled in a periodically poled potassium titanyl phosphate crystal at room temperature, in a single-pass configuration. The generated blue light had a CW power of 18.1 mW, a nearly Gaussian spatial intensity profile, and an M/sup 2/ value of 1.7.  相似文献

Distribution pattern of phosphates (A1-P, Ca-P, Fe-P), available-P, citrate soluble-P and phosphatases (acid and alkaline) was examined in three sediment layers (0–2.5 cm, 2.6–5.0 cm, 5.1–7.5 cm) of carp (Cirrhinus mrigala) culture system fertilized with varying levels (43.66 kg and 87.32 kg P) and frequencies (7, 15 and 30 days) of rock phosphate. Whereas layer differences of phosphate and phosphatases were significant in any of the treatments employed, significant treatment differences were restricted to first and second layer, but not in third layer implying that uppermost layer was the most active site of treatment action. Large variations in fish yield among six treatments were directly related with P-content of surface sediments, and hence P-level of overlying water. The variations of alkaline phosphatases in the first layer of sediment in each treatment was strongly influenced by Al-P (99.78%), available-P (0.16%) and Fe-P(0.05%), whereas the variations in second layer was mainly affected by Al-P (99.02%). None of these factors were related to the small variations of alkaline phosphatase in third layer of sediment.  相似文献

The stability of ettringite and monosulphate in water solutions with various values of pH was studied by the potentiometric method. Measurements performed in non-equilibrium conditions showed that the boundary for the disappearance of ettringite is pH = 10.7 and for monosulphate pH = 11.6. At lower values of pH, only gypsum and aluminum sulphate were present in the system studied.  相似文献

A qualitative evolution of an asymmetric Raman line-shape function from a Lorentzian line-shape is discussed here for application in low dimensional semiconductors. The step-by-step evolution reported here is based on the phonon confinement model which is successfully used in literature to explain the asymmetric Raman line-shape from semiconductor nanostructures. Physical significance of different terms in the theoretical asymmetric Raman line-shape has been explained here. Better understanding of theoretical reasoning behind each term allows one to use the theoretical Raman line-shape without going into the details of theory from first principle. This will enable one to empirically derive a theoretical Raman line-shape function for any material if information about its phonon dispersion relation, size dependence, etc., is known.  相似文献
