This paper extends the theory of the air-gap magnetic field in permanent-magnet (PM) brushless motors. Scalar and vector potential solutions to the field equations are brought together to unify many of the important practical methods already in use. The theory admits a more general representation of the magnetization vector than has been previously assumed, including both the radial and tangential components, and variation with radius. The work is applied in the design of PM motors where there is a requirement to minimize noise and torque ripple, and maximize efficiency, and a continuing need for improvements in the accuracy and rigor of design calculations. The air-gap flux-density distribution is at the heart of the design process, and it is desirable to study different magnetization patterns, including imperfections in the magnetization, for a wide range of magnet shapes. This paper shows the application of the analytical solutions in comparison with a new finite-element procedure, with test results on a prototype motor, and with simpler, older methods of calculation based on magnetic equivalent circuits. The comparison brings out many interesting points in relation to the accuracy and the speed and practicality of the various methods.  相似文献

The present study investigated the tolerability, safety profile, and anti-obsessional efficacy of sertraline, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor, during long-term treatment of patients with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Fifty-nine OCD patients who had completed a 1 year double-blind, fixed dose study comparing sertraline and placebo subsequently entered a 1-year open extension. Among the 51 patients who had been treated with sertraline during the double-blind phase, the mean total duration of sertraline treatment was 690 days. Only treatment responders who completed the 52-week double-blind treatment phase were permitted to enter the open extension. The higher rate (p < 0.02) of sertraline patients (51 out of 241) than of placebo patients (eight out of 84), who responded to treatment and entered the open-label phase is therefore consistent with the greater mean improvement observed in the sertraline group during double-blind treatment. Placebo responders differed from sertraline responders in that they were less impaired at baseline of the double-blind study [Yale-Brown Obsessive-Compulsive Scale (Y-BOCS) of 18.5 versus 23.4] and they exhibited less improvement during double-blind treatment (-6.1 versus -11.4). In the open-label phase all patients received sertraline at a starting dose of 50 mg once a day, titrated in 50 mg increments to a maximum dose of 200 mg according to clinical response. At end-point the mean Y-BOCS score for all patients decreased by a further 3.6 points. Patients previously treated with placebo showed greater improvement after being switched to sertraline than those who received continued sertraline treatment. Patients who completed the study and received 2 full years of sertraline treatment (n = 38) exhibited a mean improvement of 15.6 points using the Y-BOCS. Sertraline was well tolerated during both the double-blind phase and the open extension, and the incidence of adverse experiences was generally reduced during the second year of treatment. Three patients discontinued open treatment because of adverse experiences. Long-term sertraline treatment did not appear to be associated with the emergence, increased incidence, or increased severity of adverse experiences or clinically significant abnormalities in laboratory tests, vital signs, or the electrocardiogram. The study supports the long-term safety and tolerability of sertraline over a 2-year treatment course and the sustained efficacy of sertraline in patients with OCD.  相似文献

On 25-26 January 2003, a simulated mass-casualty exercise called ShadowBowl was conducted. A mass-casualty incident is an event in which local response capabilities are overwhelmed, and outside resources must be integrated as rapidly as possible to mitigate the situation. This article provides an account of the event, observations, and suggestions for improvements from the CRASAR perspective. ShadowBowl consisted of two tests, the first of which was a simulated earthquake response on 25 January 2003 and the remainder of which was an exercise conducted in parallel with Super Bowl XXXVII, with personnel and equipment on site at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, California, and across the country, in case a terrorist attack occurred. Capabilities that were demonstrated and tested include environmental monitoring (using sensors to detect radiation, water quality, and fire) and chemical hazard mitigation. This exercise was significant because it exposed a number of issues in a realistic emergency scenario, and the findings from the exercise can help to improve readiness for the next real disaster. Important lessons learned from ShadowBowl include what failed unexpectedly, the difficulty involved in performing what would otherwise be considered mundane tasks, and the ideal configuration of a local command center for specialists trying to use data coming from robots in the field. These lessons encompass critical components of reachback: communications, human factors, and adherence to standards. This article discusses the impact of unexpected failures on communications and other equipment, errant expectations, and information standards (synchronization and data formats).  相似文献

Comprehensive theoretical analysis on the design of a distributed erbium-doped fiber amplifier for long-distance transmission has been carried out, using a highly accurate model. The dispersion of the optical fiber as a function of the numerical aperture and the cutoff wavelength is included. Designs based on a bidirectional pumping scheme are evaluated, taking nonlinearities into account. The optimum value of the numerical aperture will be evaluated for cutoff wavelengths where the propagating pump power is single moded. For distances between each pumping station in the region between 10 and 100 km, the optimum ratio of copropagating and counterpropagating pump power will also be evaluated  相似文献

The structure and conformational dynamic changes that occur in cytoskeletal proteins within living cells and evidence for their participation in computational processing are described. The role of cellular automata, in which lattice subunits with discrete states interact only with nearest neighbors, in molecular computing is discussed. Simple rules governing subunit neighbor interactions can lead to complex behaviour capable of computation. It is shown that cellular automata may be implemented in the conformational relationships among neighboring protein subunits of cytoskeletal polymers including microtubules, and microtubule conformational automata networks may signal, adapt, recognize, and subserve neural-level learning  相似文献

Multicultural training at internship sites is a critical component in the preparation of doctoral-level psychologists, so the quality of this training is of the utmost importance. In the following study, the authors examine multicultural training from the perspective of predoctoral interns and training directors at counseling center sites that offer a major or minor rotation in multicultural therapy. Results suggest that perspectives vary between interns and training directors and that there is a great difference in the type of criteria used by each site as evidence of a major or minor rotation. The need for more standardized criteria to define major and minor rotations and suggestions for the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers, internship training directors, and prospective interns are discussed. F estningens Materialgard is a listed complex located in downtown Copenhagen. The refurbishment of the listed complex was studied to provide knowledge on how a process for refurbishing heritage buildings can be carried out successfully, as refurbishment of heritage buildings is often a complicated process. The process shows how to choose, evaluate and implement measures creating synergy between the interests of preserving heritage values and to develop affordable refurbishment that meets the requirements for the future use of the building. The refurbishment followed included restoration, energy upgrading and refurbishment of the individual buildings that make up the listed complex. The process focuses on the cooperation and dialogue between the parties involved. F estningens Materialgard is a case study where the Heritage Agency, the Danish Working Environment Authority and the owner as a team cooperated in identifying feasible refurbishment measures. Through the process the owner was supported by architects and engineers. Focus is put on how, to identify potential energy savings and, to decide on energy upgrading measures when refurbishing and restoring listed buildings.
