Multicolor infrared (IR) focal planes are required for high-performance sensor applications. These sensors will require multicolor focal plane arrays (FPAs) that will cover various wavelengths of interest in mid wavelength infrared/long wavelength infrared (MWIR/LWIR) and long wavelength infrared/very long wavelength infrared (LWIR/VLWIR) bands. There has been significant progress in HgCdTe detector technology for multicolor MWIR/LWIR and LWIR/VLWIR FPAs.1–3 Two-color IR FPAs eliminate the complexity of multiple single-color IR FPAs and provide a significant reduction of weight and power in simpler, reliable, and affordable systems. The complexity of a multicolor IR detector MWIR/LWIR makes the device optimization by trial and error not only impractical but also merely impossible. Too many different geometrical and physical variables need to be considered at the same time. Additionally, material characteristics are only relatively controllable and depend on the process repeatability. In this context, the ability of performing “simulation experiments” where only one or a few parameters are carefully controlled is paramount for a quantum improvement of a new generation of multicolor detectors for various applications.  相似文献

Recently, we have demonstrated that a spectrum of human adenocarcinoma cell lines express binding sites for interleukin 13 (IL-13). These cells are killed by a chimeric protein composed of human (h) IL-13 and a derivative of Pseudomonas exotoxin, PE38QQR (Debinski et al., J. Biol. Chem., 270: 16775-16780, 1995). The cell killing was hIL-13- and hIL-4-specific, indicating that a common binding site for the two cytokines is present in several solid tumor cell lines. Herein, we report that an array of established glioma cell lines is killed by very low concentrations of hIL-13-PE38QQR, often reaching <1 ng/ml (<20 pM). Glioma cells express up to 30,000 molecules of IL-13 receptor/cell which has intermediate affinity toward hIL-13. hIL-13-PE38QQR is more active (up to 3 logs difference in cytotoxic activities) than are the corresponding chimeric toxins containing hIL-4 or hIL-6. The cytotoxic action of hIL-13-PE38QQR is blocked by an excess of hIL-13 on all cell lines studied, and it is not neutralized by hIL-4 on some of these cells. Our results show that human brain cancers richly express receptors for IL-13. Furthermore, the interaction detected previously between receptors for IL-13 and IL-4 on solid tumors cell lines is of a qualitatively different character in U-251 MG and U-373 MG glioma cells. The receptor for IL-13 may represent a new marker of brain cancers and an attractive target for anticancer therapies.  相似文献

Delay testing is used to detect timing errors in a digital circuit.In this paper, we report a tool called MODET forautomatic test generation for path delay faults in modular combinational circuits. Our technique usesprecomputed robust delay tests for individual modules to computerobust delay tests for the module-level circuit. We present alongest path theorem at the module level ofabstraction which specifies the requirements for path selectionduring delay testing. Based on this theorem, we propose a pathselection procedure in module-level circuits and report efficientalgorithms for delay test generation. MODET hasbeen tested against a number of hierarchical circuits with impressivespeedups in relation to gate-level test generation.  相似文献

The interactions between organics and sand particles at different moisture contents are important in understanding the general mechanical behavior of rootzone sand mixtures. Towards this end, eight rootzone sand mixtures (4 shapes ×2 moisture contents) used in golf green construction were tested using the cubical triaxial tester (CTT). These eight mixtures consist of sphagnum peat as the organic source and four sands of varying particle shape (round, subround, subangular, and angular). The sand-peat mixtures were tested at two moisture contents (air-dried and 30 cm tension). Of all the test samples, air-dried round sand with peat had the highest initial bulk density (IBD) value (1.49 g/cc), while moist angular sand with peat had the lowest IBD value (1.23 g/cc). These values influenced the compression behavior of samples, for example, the air-dried round sand with peat was least compressible while moist angular sand with peat was most compressible. Generally, moisture enhanced the compressibility of test specimens. At an isotropic pressure of 100 kPa, the volumetric strain value of moist round sand with peat was 47% higher than the volumetric strain value of the air-dried round sand with peat. Consequently, moisture and peat in bulk sand samples act as lubricants and assist in the compression process. In addition, bulk modulus values decreased with moisture. Due to the dominant effect of peat, there were no large differences between bulk modulus values of different particle shapes. The shear and failure responses of the above-mentioned eight compositions were also analyzed, compared, and modeled. Of all sand mixtures tested, air-dried angular sands with peat had the highest brittle-type failure stress value, 181 kPa at 34.5 kPa confining pressure, and moist subangular sand with peat had the lowest ductile-type failure stress value, 141 kPa at the same confining pressure. Shear modulus values increased with the increase of mean pressure, but in the case of sands containing both moisture and peat, shear modulus values increased gradually. Overall, peat and moisture content have a dominant effect on the compression and failure behavior of the rootzone sands.

The ADP-receptor on the surface of human platelets and cells of megakaryocytic lineage has been classified as P2T purinergic receptor for which ADP is an agonist and ATP is an antagonist. Although it is one of the earliest identified of the important cellular receptors, it has neither been purified nor cloned. We have developed an immunoaffinity method for rapidly identifying the platelet ADP-receptor and this method can be extended to the purification of the receptor. A polyclonal antibody to glutamate dehydrogenase (GDH) covalently modified by 5'-p-fluorosulfonylbenzoyladenosine (FSBA) recognized neither FSBA nor glutamate dehydrogenase. Immunoblot of the gel obtained by sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis of solubilized FSBA-labeled platelets showed the presence of a protein band at 100 kDa and this band was absent in the immunoblots of platelets that were preincubated with ADP and ATP or covalently modified by the chemically reactive ADP-affinity analogs, 2- and 8-(4-bromo-2,3-dioxobutylthio)adenosine-5'-diphosphate (2- and 8BDB-TADP) and 2-(3-bromo-2-oxopropylthio)adenosine-5'-diphosphate (2-BOP-TADP), prior to treatment with FSBA. FSBA as well as 2- and 8-BDB-TADP and 2-BOP-TADP have been previously shown to inhibit ADP-induced platelet responses by selectively and covalently modifying aggregin (100 kDa), an ADP-receptor in intact human blood platelets. The results show that polyclonal antibody to FSBA-labeled GDH is capable of recognizing FSBA-labeled aggregin on platelets and, thus, could be used to purify aggregin by immunoaffinity column chromatography. The immunoaffinity method was found to be far more sensitive than the radiochemical methods to identify aggregin previously developed in our laboratory. Since FSBA is also capable of reacting with enzymes that require ATP for their catalytic function, the polyclonal antibody may be used to identify and purify other P2-type purinergic receptors that require binding of ATP before eliciting cellular responses.  相似文献

We have previously demonstrated that IFN-gamma causes cell growth inhibition and up-regulation of MHC antigens in human renal cell carcinoma cell lines. In this study, we have investigated the therapeutic potential of IFN-gamma for the treatment of 5-day established pulmonary metastases induced by i.v. injection of Renca cells, a murine renal adenocarcinoma. We found that systemic injections of IFN-gamma significantly reduced the number of lung metastases in a dose-dependent manner and increased mouse survival. Histological evaluation of IFN-gamma-treated lungs showed residual small tumor nodules containing extensive necrosis and mononuclear infiltrates. Immunohistochemistry studies on lung sections showed macrophage infiltration into tumor nodules, and in vivo depletion of macrophages partially inhibited IFN-gamma antitumor effect, suggesting a role for the macrophages in tumor destruction. Lymphocyte depletion of either natural killer (NK) cells or CD4+ or CD8+ T-cell subsets or both T-cell subsets did not affect the IFN-gamma effect, whereas depletion of both NK and T cells decreased the antitumor activity of IFN-gamma. These data indicate that neither T cells nor NK cells are essential for this activity but that either lymphocyte population can contribute to the IFN-gamma effect. An optimal dose of IFN-gamma inhibited by 60% the growth of Renca cells treated for 3 days in vitro, but this effect was transient and less pronounced in a long-term colony assay, suggesting that IFN-gamma direct growth inhibition may play a role but may not be sufficient to mediate its antitumor effect in vivo. In vitro, IFN-gamma caused up-regulation of class I MHC antigens and induction of class II antigen expression in Renca cells, an effect that may enhance Renca immunogenicity but may be relevant only when a T-cell response is elicited. A sequential administration of IFN-gamma followed by interleukin 4 was therapeutically better than IFN-gamma alone for the treatment of advanced pulmonary metastases, probably due to different antitumor mechanisms induced by these two cytokines.  相似文献

The shrouded plasma spray process was used to deposit NiCrAlY, Ni-20Cr, Ni3Al, and Stellite-6 metallic coatings on a Ni-based superalloy (62Ni-23Cr-1.48Al-0.80Mn-0.37Si-0.10Cu-0.025C-bal Fe). NiCrAlY was used as a bond coat in all cases. Hot corrosion studies were conducted on uncoated as well as plasma-spray-coated superalloy specimens after exposure to molten salt at 900 °C under cyclic conditions. The thermogravimetric technique was used to establish the kinetics of corrosion. X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy/energy-dispersive X-ray analysis (SEM/EDAX) and electron-probe microanalysis techniques were used to analyze the corrosion products. The uncoated superalloy suffered accelerated corrosion in the form of intense spalling of the scale. The NiCrAlY coated specimen showed a minimum weight gain, whereas the Stellite-6 indicated a maximum weight gain among the coatings studied. All the coatings were found to be successful in developing resistance against hot corrosion, which may be attributed to the formation of oxides, and spinels of nickel, aluminum, chromium, or cobalt.  相似文献
