One convenient synthesis route to boron nitride nanotube

We describe one convenient synthesis route to boron nitride (BN) nanotube by the reaction of boron powder, iron oxide, and ammonium chloride at 600 °C for 12 h. Characterized by XRD, FTIR, XPS, TEM and SAED, the composition and morphology of the products are confirmed. The possible reaction mechanism is also discussed.     

New Synthetic Method for Industrial Manufacture of Glutaric Dialdehyde

A new synthetic method for the manufacture of glutaric dialdehyde is investigated. Glutaric dialdehyde was prepared by the addition-hydrolysis reaction of benzimidazolium salt with saturated dihalide as the di-Grignard reagent. The yield of glutaric dialdehyde by this method can reach 73%. Both infrared spectra and melting point of the compound were consistent with those reported earlier. Bis[μ‐1‐(1,10‐phenanthrolin‐2‐yl)‐2‐pyridone]bis{aqua[1‐(1,10‐phenanthrolin‐2‐yl)‐2‐pyridone]cadmium(II)} tetrakis(perchlorate)

In the title centrosymmetric binuclear complex, [Cd₂(C₁₇H₁₁N₃O)₄(H₂O)₂](ClO₄)₄, the Cd^II ion assumes a distorted octahedral geometry. There are π–π stacking interactions between the pyridine and 1,10‐phenanthroline ring systems of adjacent ligands at the same Cd^II centre. Intermolecular hydrogen bonds between the coordinated aqua ligand and the O atom of a keto group connect adjacent complex cations into extended chains. Hydrogen bonds also exist between the complex cations and the perchlorate anions. Compared with the fluorescence spectrum of the organic ligand, the complex displays strong fluorescent emission and an ipsochromic shift of the emission peaks, which may be attributed to the structural character.     

Pulsed laser deposition of atomically flat La1-xSrxMnO3 thin films using a novel target geometry

A new ablation target geometry is presented that was used to produce thin films of La_1-xSr_xMnO₃ grown heteroepitaxially on SrTiO₃ by pulsed reactive crossed-beam laser ablation. The films were grown in order to perform angle-resolved photoelectron spectroscopy, which demands that the surface be atomically flat. In situ and ex situ analysis shows that this condition was met, even after depositing to a thickness of over 100 nm. PACS 61.10.-i; 61.18.Bn; 68.47.Gh; 71.27.+a; 81.15.Fg     

Investigation of charge effects on poling and stability for corona-poled polymer films

The optimal corona-poling temperature of polymer films was accurately determined by measuring the temperature dependence of the in situ second-harmonic (SH) intensity profile under the applied poling electric field. The in situ SH intensity profile was first measured by probing both the surface voltages and the poling currents induced by surface/space charges for the corona-poled polymer films. Moreover, charge effects on the stability of the chromophore orientation were first studied by using the thermally stimulated discharge-current technique. Envelop solitons in dusty plasmas for warm dust

A nonlinear Schrödinger equation is obtained for the warm dusty plasmas. The modulational instability of envelop soliton is investigated in this paper. Both the temperature of the dust grains and the charge variations of dust grains affect the instability regions of the dusty plasmas. It also affect the amplitude and the width of the envelop soliton.     

Robust H∞ control for linear Markovian jump systems with unknown nonlinearities

This paper studies the problem of stochastic stability and disturbance attenuation for a class of linear continuous-time uncertain systems with Markovian jumping parameters. The uncertainties are assumed to be nonlinear and state, control and external disturbance dependent. A sufficient condition is provided to solve the above problem. An H_∞ controller is designed such that the resulting closed-loop system is stochastically stable and has a disturbance attenuation γ for all admissible uncertainties. It is shown that the control law is in terms of the solutions of a set of coupled Riccati inequalities. A numerical example is included to demonstrate the potential of the proposed technique.
