Arylamination of chloroquinolines

The first representatives of arylaminoquinolines with arylamino groups in the benzene ring were synthesized by arylamination of the corresponding chloroquinolines. Thermodynamics of nucleation in an internal oxide getter in silicon

Nucleation of precipitates of silicon dioxide is studied theoretically within the framework of the classical theory of nucleation. Elastic stresses, accompanying nucleation, are taken into account under the assumption that the nucleus and matrix are incoherent and the silicon is elastically isotropic. The results of a numerical calculation of the form and dimensions of the critical nucleus, the free energy of its formation, and the rate of nucleation as a function of the annealing temperature in the range 773–1473 K for oxygen concentrations in the starting single crystal of (0.4–1.4)·10¹⁸ cm^–3 are presented. It is shown that homogeneous nucleation of precipitates is, in principle, possible. Study of mechanism of Z,E-isomerization of α-nitro-β-arylaminoacrylic esters in solution employing dynamic NMR spectroscopy

Conclusions Employing the dynamic NMR spectroscopy method it was shown that the Z,E-isomerization of-nitro--arylaminoacrylic esters in pyridine as the medium is accomplished with prior ionizatioa of the N-H bond.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Seriya Khimicheskaya, No. 11, pp. 2601–2605, November, 1977.     

Setup for studying quasi-free neutron-neutron scattering in the energy range of 20–60 MeV

A setup installed on the RADEX neutron beam channel (Institute for Nuclear Research, Russian Academy of Sciences) and designed to study quasi-free nn scattering in the n + d → p + n + n reaction is described. The setup is a two-arm time-of-flight spectrometer composed of scintillation neutron hodoscope (in the left arm), a scintillation neutron detector (in the right arm), and an active scintillation deuterated target for detecting protons. Secondary neutrons are detected at angles corresponding to the kinematic conditions of quasi-free nn scattering. Events are selected at low energies of the outgoing proton spectator. It is shown that data on neutron-neutron quasi-free scattering can be obtained in a wide range of primary-neutron energies.     

Metal-insulator transition in two dimensions: experimental test of the two-parameter scaling

We report a detailed scaling analysis of resistivity rho(T,n) measured for several high-mobility 2D electron systems in the vicinity of the 2D metal-insulator transition. We analyzed the data using the two-parameter scaling approach and general scaling ideas. This enables us to determine the critical electron density, two critical indices, and temperature dependence for the separatrix in the self-consistent manner. In addition, we reconstruct the empirical scaling function describing a two-parameter surface which fits well the rho(T,n) data.

Synthesis and Properties of <Emphasis Type="Italic">N</Emphasis>-[R-Adamantan-1(2)-yl]-<Emphasis Type="Italic">N</Emphasis>′-(2-fluorophenyl)ureas—Target-Oriented Soluble Epoxide Hydrolase Inhibitors

2-Fluorophenyl isocyanate reacted with adamantan-1(2)-amines and their homologs in DMF to give 31–92% of the corresponding N,N′-disubstituted ureas that are target-oriented human soluble epoxide hydrolase (sEH) inhibitors. Introduction of a fluorine atom increases the sEH inhibitory activity by a factor of 4.5.
