Seasonal changes in the human cardiovascular system are known to play an important role in the onset of many diseases. Confounding variables include behavioral and environmental factors; failing to address such variables makes measuring the true temporal impact of these diseases difficult. On the other hand, numerous clinical studies imply that only specific groups of people are more seasonal sensitive and that their maladaptation might contribute to various illnesses. As a result, it is critical to evaluate the etiological and seasonal sensitive patterns of cardiovascular diseases (CVD), which impact the majority of the human population. The hypothesis for this study formulated that cardiovascular and associated illnesses had substantial connections with seasonal and etiological variations. Thus in the present study, 4519 systematic screen-eligible studies were analyzed using data mining to uncover 852 disease association relationships between cardiovascular and associated disorders. A disease ontology-based semantic similarity network (DSN) analysis was performed to narrow down the identified CVDs. Further, topological analysis was used to predict the seven CVDs, including myocardial infarction (MI), in three clusters. Following that, Mann–Kendall and Cox–Stuart analyses were used to investigate the seasonal sensitivity and temporal relationship of these seven CVDs. Finally, temporal relationships were confirmed using LOESS and TBATS, as well as seasonal breakdown utilizing autocorrelation and fast Fourier transform results. The study provides indirect evidence of a severe etiological association among the three cardiovascular diseases, including MI, atrial fibrillation, and atherosclerosis, which are winter season sensitive in most of the world population. Hypertension has two seasonal falls and peaks due to its seasonal nature, that is, summer and winter hypertension. While, heart failure was also identified, with minor temporal trends. Hence, all five diseases could be classified as seasonal cardiovascular comorbid diseases (SCCD). Furthermore, these diseases could be studied for potential common risk factors such as biochemical, genetic, and physiological factors.  相似文献

A series of novel N-[5-(arylidene)-2-(aryl)-4-oxo-thiazolidin-3-yl]-4-biphenylcarboxamide derivatives was synthesized and evaluated for analgesic and anti-inflammatory activity. In this study, biphenyl-4-carboxylic acid hydrazide was converted to the corresponding aryl hydrazones using aryl aldehydes in the presence of catalytic amount of glacial acetic acid. The aryl hydrazones on reaction with thioglycolic acid in the presence of anhydrous zinc chloride yielded N-[2-(aryl)-4-oxo-thiazolidin-3-yl]-4-biphenylcarboxamide which further on reaction with aromatic aldehydes in the presence of anhydrous sodium acetate and glacial acetic acid furnished the title compounds. All compound exhibited anti-inflammatory activity at the dose 10?mg/kg. The structures of all these newly synthesized compounds were confirmed by their elemental analyses (C, H, N) and spectral data (IR and 1H NMR).  相似文献

Aims αB-crystallin is an anti-apoptotic protein commonly expressed in poor prognosis basal-like breast tumors, which are largely triple (estrogen receptor (ER), progesterone receptor (PR), and HER2) negative. We examined whether αB-crystallin expression in breast cancer was associated with a poor response to neoadjuvant (preoperative) chemotherapy. Methods One hundred and twelve breast cancer patients who received neoadjuvant chemotherapy and who had post-chemotherapy tumor specimens available for analysis were included in the study. Forty-nine percent of patients were treated with doxorubicin and cyclophosphamide (AC), 37% received AC in combination with a taxane, and 14% received other regimens. Paired pre- and post-chemotherapy tumor specimens were available for 33 patients. αB-crystallin expression was determined by immunohistochemistry in tissue microarrays. Results Seventeen percent of tumors were αB-crystallin positive. αB-crystallin expression was identical in 32 of 33 cases for which both pre- and post-chemotherapy tumor tissue was available. αB-crystallin expression was associated with ER-negative (P = 0.0024) and triple negative status (P = 0.005). Overall response rates (ORR) defined as ≥50% reduction in tumor size after treatment were 53% (clinical ORR) and 61% (pathological ORR). Although tumor grade, size, ER, PR, HER2 or triple negative status was not associated with response, αB-crystallin-positive tumors had poorer overall response rates than αB-crystallin-negative tumors (clinical ORR, 21% vs. 59%, respectively, P = 0.0045; pathological ORR, 16% vs. 70%, respectively, P < 0.0001). Conclusion αB-crystallin is a novel biomarker expressed predominantly in triple negative breast tumors that identifies a subset of chemotherapy-resistant tumors, which may contribute to their poor prognosis.  相似文献

PurposeTo evaluate safety and efficacy of segmental yttrium-90 (Y90) radioembolization for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) after transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS) placement. The hypothesis was liver sparing segmental Y90 for HCC after TIPS would provide high antitumor response with a tolerable safety profile.Materials and MethodsThis single-arm retrospective study included 39 patients (16 women, 23 men) with ages 49–81 years old who were treated with Y90. Child-Pugh A/B liver dysfunction was present in 72% (28/39) with a median Model for End-stage Liver Disease score of 18 (95% confidence interval, 16.4–19.4). Primary outcomes were clinical and biochemical toxicities and antitumor imaging response by World Health Organization (WHO) and European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL) criteria. Secondary outcomes were orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT), time to progression (TTP), and overall survival (OS) estimates by the Kaplan-Meier method.ResultsThe 30-day mortality was 0%. Grade 3+ clinical adverse events and grade 3+ hyperbilirubinemia occurred in 5% (2/39) and 0% (0/39), respectively. Imaging response was achieved in 58% (22/38, WHO criteria) and 74% (28/38, EASL criteria), respectively. Median TTP was 16.1 months for any cause and 27.5 months for primary index lesions. OLT was completed in 88% (21/24) of listed patients at a median time of 6.1 months (range, 0.9–11.7 months). Median OS was 31.6 months and 62.9 months censored and uncensored to OLT, respectively.ConclusionsSegmental Y90 for HCC appears safe and efficacious in patients after TIPS. Preserved transplant eligibility suggests that Y90 is a useful tool for bridging these patients to liver transplantation.  相似文献

Histological and clinical studies have been made on comparable burn wounds covered with either boiled potato peels affixed to gauze bandages or gauze dressings alone; both dressings were applied over a thin layer of 5 per cent silver sulphadiazine. Compared with treatment with plain gauze dressings, the application of the potato peel dressing reduced or eliminated dessication, permitted the survival of superficial skin cells and hastened epithelial regeneration. Bacteriological studies showed that the potato peels had no intrinsic antibacterial activity, the wounds beneath both dressings showing either no growth or, on most occasions, the same bacterial species. The easy availability of potato peels and gauze bandages on to which they can be affixed, the simplicity of the preparation of this dressing, the ease of sterilization and its low cost of production make this the dressing of choice for burn wounds in our developing country.  相似文献
