The usual least-squares adjustment within an Errors-in-Variables (EIV) model is often described as Total Least-Squares Solution (TLSS), just as the usual least-squares adjustment within a Random Effects Model (REM) has become popular under the name of Least-Squares Collocation (without trend). In comparison to the standard Gauss-Markov Model (GMM), the EIV-Model is less informative whereas the REM is more informative. It is known under which conditions exactly the GMM or the REM can be equivalently replaced by a model of condition equations or, more generally, by a Gauss-Helmert Model. Similar equivalency conditions are, however, still unknown for the EIV-Model once it is transformed into such a model of condition equations. In a first step, it is shown in this contribution how the respective residual vector and residual matrix look like if the TLSS is applied to condition equations with a random coefficient matrix to describe the transformation of the random error vector. The results are demonstrated using a numeric example which shows that this approach may be valuable in its own right.  相似文献

The Harletz loess‐palaeosol sequence is located in northwestern Bulgaria and represents an important link between well‐studied loess sequences in eastern Romania and further sites to the west of the Carpathians (e.g. Serbia and Hungary). The aim of this study was to establish a chronostratigraphy of the deposits, using various methods of luminescence dating, together with basic stratigraphical field observations as well as magnetic properties. Luminescence dating was carried out using the quartz fine grain fraction and a SAR protocol, and the feldspar coarse grain fraction, applying the MET‐pIRIR protocol. Due to underestimation of the quartz fine grain fraction in the lower parts of the sequence, the resulting chronology is mainly based on the feldspar ages, which are derived from the stimulation temperature at 150 °C. A comparison with nearby sequences from Serbia, Hungary and Romania, and interpretations obtained through the stratigraphical and sedimentological signature of the sequence, supports the established chronology. Our data suggest that the prominent palaeosol (soil complex) in the upper quarter of the sequence was formed during MIS 5. It would follow that large parts of the Last Glacial loess overlying this palaeosol were probably eroded, and that the thick loess accumulation underlying this soil complex can be allocated to the penultimate glacial (MIS 6). A prominent MIS 6 tephra, which has been reported from other sequences in the area, is also present at Harletz.  相似文献

Based on former conceptual models of vulnerability, this paper aims to improve the quantitative model for regional vulnerability assessment by analyzing in-depth the relation between vulnerability, exposure, coping capacity, and resilience. Taking the mountain settlements in the upper reaches of Min River, China, as a case study, the method of Contributing Weight Superposition (CWS) is applied in establishing both a model and a system for the vulnerability assessment of elements at risk. The CWS approach consists of 13 index factors including population, economic and road densities, building and farmland coverage, hazard-affected areas, urbanization rate, and GDP per capita. Accordingly, a debris flow hazard vulnerability zoning map was obtained and the assessment results show that the distribution of high and comparatively high vulnerability zones, where economic activities are considerably high, has a close correlation to the topography of the catchment and population characteristics. The results thus may serve as a pertinent guidance for settlement relocation, population distribution readjustment, and management to prevent and reduce hazards in the upper reaches of Min River and beyond.  相似文献

At the Glarus thrust in the Swiss Helvetic Alps, Permian Verrucano siltstones are allochthonously superimposed over Tertiary Flysch with an intermediate, about 1 metre thin layer of intensively deformed calcmylonite of probable Mesozoic provenance. The H–O–C- and Sr-isotope compositions of minerals from the calc-mylonite and strongly mylonitized Verrucano siltstones were determined in order to assess: (1) equilibrium-disequilibrium relationships; (2) isotopic composition of the fluid phase, its provenance and water/rock ratios; (3) sources of Sr in the calc-mylonite; (4) deformation temperatures. The isotopic composition of cale-mylonite micro-samples from five sites along the thrust varies from 22 to 12 and 2 to-10 for 18O and 13C respectively. All samples are 18O depleted by up to 14 relative to the presumed marine Helvetic carbonate protoliths (18O=25.4±2). A pronounced geographic trend of 18O depletion from 22 in the north to 12 in the south is observed. In calc-mylonites, 87Sr/86Sr ratios range from typical Mesozoic marine carbonate protolith signatures (0.708±0.005) to more radiogenic values as high as 0.722. A variable contribution of radiogenic 87Sr to the calc-mylonite is though to reflect interaction with fluids that aquired their Sr from the Hercynian granitic basement. Chlorites and muscovites from the calc-mylonite and Verrucano have uniform 18O values but display D values from-40 to-147%: the D-enriched values correspond to the primary metamorphic or formational fluids expelled during thrusting, whereas the D-depleted samples reflect selective H-isotope exchange with meteoric fluids during uplift of the Alpine belt. The isotopic composition of the calc-mylonites requires exchange with 18O—depleted, 87Sr—enriched fluids at very high water/rock ratios. Possible sources for these are dewatering of the underlying Flysch and/or metamorphic fluids, or formation brines expelled along the thrust from greater depth. These could be derived from compaction and dewatering of the Flysch in the northern part of the thrust; in the south, however, where Verrucano is thrust over 18O-rich Mesozoic carbonates, the extreme 18O depletion of the calc-mylonite has to be explained either by fluid advection within the Verrucano hanging wall and thrust zone or alternatively by exchange with metamorphic fluids from greater depth, expelled along the thrust. Microstructural evidence (abundant veins, stylolites, breccias) suggests that fluids played an important role in deformation and strain localization. Excepting albite all major components (quartz, chlorite, muscovite, calcite) are both dynamically recrystallized and crystallized as secondary minerals in pressure shadows and syn-mylonitic veins, indicating that these minerals were potentially open to oxygen isotopic exchange during alpine metamorphism and thrust deformation. Within the mylonitized Verrucano silstones, isolated quartz-chlorite and quartz-calcite fractionations yield temperatures of around 320°C close to values obtained from calcite-dolomite thermometry (355°C±30) and in agreement with the regional lower greenschist facies metamorphism. Quartz-calcite and quartz-albite fractionations indicate slightly lower temperatures around 250°C, owing to selective lower temperature re-equilibration of the calcite and albite during post peak metamorphism.  相似文献

Lineament extraction has long been performed through extensive field mapping. Recent advances in the field of remote sensing have made possible the availability of imageries from earth observation satellites with different Spatio-temporal resolutions, paving way for new automatic, semi-automatic, and manual techniques for the extraction of natural lineaments. The study focuses on the extraction of lineaments representing tectonic fault zones; the lineaments are extracted automatically and semi-automatically/manually. Results show that indirect information about the tectonic lineaments can be derived through automatic techniques whereas, the semi-automatic techniques are more effective to directly identify them. Detailed analyses of lineaments and landslides revealed that areas near lineaments, in general, experienced higher frequency of landslides. Moreover, it is also observed that lineaments are not the only factor that affects landslide density; other parameters like slope and lithology were also found to be the controlling factors in determining the spatial landslide distribution. Lastly, some recommendations have been made based on observations.

Physical, chemical and biological data from a sedimentary profile of Rocha lagoon (Uruguay) are presented. Analyses of silica remains showed that opal phytoliths, diatoms, sponge spicules and chrysophyte cysts were the most important contributors to biogenic silica. Organic matter, total nitrogen and total phosphorus were used to infer past trophic development. Physical analysis of sediments allowed us to identify five lithological units related to sea level variation and climatic events.  相似文献

Borosilicate alteration is developed in many uranium-molybdenum-zinc deposits in volcanic piles such as at Novazza (Italy), Novoveska Huta (Slovakia), Ben Lomond (Queensland, Australia), the Saar-Nahe basin (Germany), the Shengyuan district (China), and at many deposits in Russia. These uranium-molybdenum-zinc deposits share similar styles of alteration with silver-gold-zinc deposits in volcanic rocks, like those of the Humboldt Range (Nevada, USA), the Basin district (Montana, USA) and Equity Mine (British Columbia, Canada). In thick volcanic piles, fluid-rock interaction commonly develops under the influence of convective hydrothermal systems. In borosilicate-bearing systems the alteration is characterized by changes in borosilicate mineralogy and chemistry under mesothermal conditions. Zonal distribution of different compositions of tourmaline can be observed including regular increases of alkali deficiency in the X(3a) site from peripheral (chlorite-epidote-prehnite) to internal (sericite and/or pyrophyllite) alteration zones. In the central part of these systems tourmaline is absent and the alteration assemblage is characterized by an andalusitedumortierite-quartz association. Such changes in mineral assemblage are related to an increase in temperature from 250 to 350–400 °C and to decreases in pH and Eh, from the outer toward the inner parts of the hydrothermal system. The zonation of the borosilicate-bearing alteration systems is similar to that of aluminosilicate-bearing hydrothermal systems (muscovite, pyrophyllite, andalusite) developed in volcanic rocks. A kaolinite-alunitejasperoid assemblage is generally associated with the borosilicate alteration, and seems related to a late hydrothermal phase mainly located in graben structures.  相似文献
