To study the relationship among relaxation peaks observed in dynamic mechanical experiments and the structure of poly(ethylene‐co‐vinyl acetate) (EVA), EVA copolymers with different substitution in the carbonyl group were synthesized. EVA was hydrolyzed to obtain poly (ethylene‐co‐vinyl alcohol) and was subsequently reacted with formic, hexanoic, and octanoic acids. The copolymers synthesized were characterized by infrared spectroscopy. Analysis of the DMA spectra of the copolymers showed that their relaxation behavior depends on the vinyl acetate concentration. The α‐ and β‐transitions were observed in EVA copolymers with 8 and 18 wt % of functional groups, and the relationship among relaxation process with the structure of polymer was investigated. © 2005 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A multicomponent pheromone produced by male cabbage looper moths that is attractive to female moths in a flight tunnel bioassay was isolated and identified. Based on analyses of hairpencil extracts of male cabbage loopers and volatiles emitted by males, the pheromone has been identified as a blend consisting of (S)-(+)-linalool,p-cresol, andm-cresol. The chirality of the major component, (S)-(+)-linalool, is important for behavioral response of females. These pheromonal compounds were also identified as volatiles released by males when males were exposed to the principal pheromone component of female cabbage loopers, (Z)-7-dodecen-1-ol acetate. The amount of male pheromone released was increased significantly when males were exposed to a combination of (Z)-7-dodecen-1-ol acetate and the odor from cabbage. Neither linalool nor the cresols were detected in volatiles from cabbage or from males exposed to cabbage odor. 相似文献

In MEMS (micro electromechanical system) devices, piezoelectric aluminum nitride (AlN) thin films are commonly used as functional material for sensing and actuating purposes. Additionally, AlN features excellent dielectric properties as well as a high chemical and thermal stability, making it also a good choice for passivation purposes for microelectronic devices. With those aspects and current trends towards minimization in mind, the dielectric reliability of thin AlN films is of utmost importance for the realization of advanced device concepts. In this study, we present results on the transversal dielectric strength of 100 nm AlN thin films deposited by dc magnetron sputtering. The dielectric strength is measured using a time-zero approach, using a fast voltage ramp to stress the film up to the point of breakdown. The measurements are performed at different device temperatures. In order to achieve statistical significance, at least 12 measurements are performed for each environment parameter set and the results are analyzed using the Weibull approach. Basically, lower breakdown fields are observed with increasing temperatures up to 300 °C with a characteristic breakdown field strength E 0 following the relationship $\sqrt {E_{0} } \propto T$ as reported in literature for similar measurements performed at silicon nitride thin films. From the intersection of this linear behavior, the Poole–Frenkel (PF) barrier height ? B is determined to 0.54 eV, which is reasonable for AlN thin films. The slope of this relation is similar to values reported for silicon nitride thin films. This allows an estimation of the breakdown field at higher temperatures by extrapolation. Leakage current measurements show a dominant PF type conduction mechanism, verifying the applicability of $\sqrt {E_{0} } \propto T$ . No breakdown occurs in negative field direction, which is attributed to the metal–insulator–semiconductor configuration of the sample and hence, the presence of a depletion layer forming in the n-doped silicon and dominating the leakage current behavior. 相似文献

By oxidizing treatment of waste waters, which are normally scarcely accessible to biodegradation, the molecular structure of the compounds can be altered in such a way that biodegradation becomes possible. It is shown by the example of two types of waste water how rapidly the elimination of persistent substances proceeds by biological treatment after preceding ozonization. A gradual improvement of the elimination rate can often be achieved by combining ozone treatment with adsorption procedures. 相似文献

In a systematic study of the elution column fractionation of a well characterized branched polyethylene sample it was found that one of the most important factors contributing to the efficiency was the composition selected for the p-xylene-butyl cellosolve eluting mixture. With a mixture representing the critical solvent composition at 126°C., as determined by cloud point measurements, and deposition to an amorphous phase on a fine sand support, viscosity–distribution curves were obtained which were highly reproducible and completely free of any reversal. No further improvement was gained by using an elution temperature other than 126°C. or by the substitution of tetralin or mesitylene for p-xylene. Precipitation down a temperature gradient to produce a physical separation of species provided enhanced fractionation but is of doubtful practical interest. Fractionation was readily scaled up from 2g. to 4 or 6g., merely by increasing the mixing vessel size from 500 cc. to 1000 cc. There was no loss of efficiency, and fractions with M?w = 8 × 106, more than twentyfold higher than the sample value, were obtained despite eluted polymer concentrations exceeding 0.2%. There is evidence that many of the expected differences in the fractionation behavior of linear and branched polyethylene are erased when a solvent mixture is used which has been adjusted to the appropriate critical composition. 相似文献

Fluoride can be largely removed by filtration through alumina. Any off-taste, occasionally caused by natural organic substances, is prevented by the ozone treatment. The curing behavior of two commercially formulated epoxy resins composed of the tetrafunctional amine dicyandiamide and with differing epoxy components, 4,4′-bisglycidylphenyl-2,2′-propane and the tetraglycidyl ether of methylene dianiline, is characterized by dynamic spring analysis. This supported viscoelastic technique is well suited to the determination of the onset of gelation under isothermal conditions but the method is not useful for monitoring later stages of reaction when the resins become more rigid. The activation energy for the curing of the two resins is about 87 kJ/mole (20.7 kcal/mole). Rate constants for the first order curing reaction are given. Additional studies of films cured below the ultimate Tg show that two relaxations can be observed upon heating. The first relaxation occurs near the original isothermal cure temperature with a low activation energy, about 250 kJ/mole, whereas the second relaxation occurs near the ultimate Tg, under the conditions used here, with an activation energy of 500–650 kJ/mole. It is believed that these activation energies provide a unique method of characterizing the molecular mobility of epoxy resins at various states of cure. 相似文献

A novel integrated approach to high-accuracy machining with industrial robots is presented in this paper. By combining a conventional industrial robot with an external compensation mechanism, a significantly higher bandwidth of the control of the relative position between the tool and the workpiece can be achieved. A model-based feedback controller for the compensation mechanism, as well as a mid-ranging control architecture for the combined system with the robot and the compensation mechanism are developed. The system performance is evaluated in extensive machining experiments, and the workpiece accuracies achieved are quantified and compared to the corresponding results obtained with state-of-the-art approaches to robotic machining. It is shown that the proposed approach to machining offers significantly higher accuracy, up to eight times improvement for milling in steel, where the required process forces, and thus the exhibited position deviations of the robot, are significant. 相似文献

A procedure has been developed for a priori prediction of intraparticle diffusion effects in low temperature water—gas shift reaction. Use is made of transport characteristics of the Cu/ZnO/A12O3 pelleted catalyst determined independently by combination of diffusion and permeation results obtained under nonreactive conditions. The porous medium is described by the mean transport pore model and diffusional behaviour of the multicomponent reaction mixture by a modified Stefan-Maxwell equation. Using data from kinetic region obtained at 200°C, it was possible to predict the performance of a bench-scale reactor packed with pelleted catalyst at 200°C and 220°C satisfactorily. 相似文献
