This paper deals with the relation between segmentation for coding and rate control. The efficiency of a segmentation-based coding scheme heavily relies on this step that defines how many and which regions have to be segmented. In this paper, we show that this problem can be formulated as a rate/distortion problem. The proposed solution not only controls the segmentation, but also defines the coding strategy to be used in each region. Together with the general approach, several simplified versions of the segmentation control are proposed and discussed.  相似文献

The transepithelial intestinal elimination of ciprofloxacin (CPX) was studied in cholera toxin (CT)-challenged and control intestinal loops in the rabbit. CPX concentrations were similar in CT-challenged and control jejunal and ileal loops, while cecal elimination was negligible. The quantities of eliminated CPX per square centimeter of bowel wall were significantly higher in the small intestine CT-challenged loops. The mechanism of elimination of CPX in the small intestine is therefore mainly passive diffusion.  相似文献

A sample representative of the adult noninstitutionalized population of the continental US was stratified by sex and occupation. Data were derived from the 1974 General Survey conducted by the National Opinion Research Center, as reported by J. A. Davis (1975). Ss rank ordered 5 job attributes in terms of their importance: high income, security, short hours, advancement, and feelings of accomplishment. No sex differences were found. This paper presents a parallel algorithm for obtaining the inverse of a large, nonsingular symmetric matrix A of dimension nxn. The inversion method proposed is based on the triangular factors of A. The task of obtaining the "sparse inverse' of A is represented by a directed acyclic graph. The relation between the triangulation graph and the sparse inversion graph is given. The algorithm and the graph for the full inversion of A is also given. It is shown that for any sparse symmetric matrix, and assuming enough processors are available, the full inverse of the matrix can be calculated in the same amount of time as the sparse inverse. For ideally sparse matrices (such as tridiagonal matrices) the order of computation required in both cases is of order log2n. For full matrices the order of computation is n log2n. Researchers attempted to find a genetic correlation between the antibody response and some behaviors by comparing the behavioral profile of good antibody-producing mice (Biozzi's H mice) with that of bad antibody producers (Biozzi's L mice). The behavioral tests used were 2 open fields, a light–darkness test, and reaction to capture; the antigen was keyhole limpet hemocyanin, and blood levels of immunoglobulin (Classes IgM and IgG) antibodies to hemocyanin were measured by diffusion-in-gel-enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. H and L mice differed in the magnitude of the antibody response (H?>?L), in reaction to capture (L?>?H), and in rearing in 1 of the open fields (L?>?H). Yet the level of IgM or IgG antibodies was uncorrelated with those behaviors in the (H?×?L) F, hybrids and in outbred CDI mice. Thus, the behavioral differences between H and L mice are not due to the antibody response genes but to other genes fixed during selection for antibody responsiveness.
