This paper presents the implementation concepts of a step length selection rule in a modified Hasofer-Lind and Rackwitz-Fiessler (HL–RF) method in order to improve its performance. Several step length selection rules in the context of structural reliability were studied and implemented in order to make the modified HL–RF method more robust and efficient. It has been demonstrated that a variant of Goldstein's rule, which is popularly known as the Armijo rule, is one of the most efficient step length selection rules. It is observed in this study that a proper step length selection rule will not only make the algorithm more robust but also improves the other parameters such as efficiency, capacity, etc. An iterative procedure, which enables systematic implementation into a computer program has been given. Several case studies have been taken from the literature to demonstrate and validate the proposed algorithm. A general-purpose software has been developed to solve a variety of structural reliability problems including those, which are complex and non-linear. In addition, non-normal distributions, such as lognormal, extreme value distributions, etc., are incorporated in this software. 相似文献

This paper presents the ITU-T Study Group 15 development of H-series Recommendations that allow interworking between different audiovisual communication terminals manufactured by different equipment providers. The paper focuses on H.310 and H.321 systems for broad-band ATM environments and H.322 and H.323 systems for LAN environments where the quality of service may or may not be guaranteed. The paper first lists the Recommendations developed by the ITU-T for audiovisual communication systems and the network environments in which they may be used. It then describes the design philosophy, the network specific characteristics, and hardware trials for each system. Then it describes the communication control protocol defined in H.245 which is used commonly by different audiovisual communication systems. Sterol 27-hydroxylase plays an important role in cholesterol metabolism in hepatic and extrahepatic tissues. To determine whether female sex steroid hormones influence its expression, we measured plasma and hepatic 27-hydroxycholesterol, hepatic mRNA levels, activity of sterol 27-hydroxylase, and adrenal mRNA levels of this enzyme in baboons (n = 6 per group) treated with placebo, estrogen, estrogen + progesterone, and progesterone. We also measured hepatic cholesterol concentration and hepatic acyl coenzyme A:cholesterol acyltransferase (ACAT) activity to determine their relationship with hepatic sterol 27-hydroxylase activity. Plasma 27-hydroxycholesterol concentration was increased by estrogen and estrogen + progesterone and was negatively correlated with plasma (P = .090) and LDL (P = .026) cholesterol concentrations. Similarly, hepatic sterol 27-hydroxylase activity was increased by estrogen and estrogen + progesterone and was negatively correlated with plasma (P = .056) and LDL (P = .052) cholesterol concentrations but was positively correlated with hepatic and plasma 27-hydroxycholesterol concentrations (P < .001). Hepatic ACAT activity was increased by progesterone (P < .004) and was positively correlated with plasma (P = .002) and LDL (P = .009) cholesterol concentrations but was negatively correlated with hepatic sterol 27-hydroxylase activity (P = .035). Hepatic and adrenal gland mRNA levels for sterol 27-hydroxylase were increased by estrogen alone or in combination with progesterone (P < .05). Hepatic sterol 27-hydroxylase activity was positively correlated with hepatic mRNA levels (P < .001), an observation suggesting that estrogen increases the activity of sterol 27-hydroxylase by increasing its synthesis. Hepatic cholesterol concentration was not influenced by the hormone treatment. These observations suggest that estrogen alone or in combination with progesterone increases the synthesis of sterol 27-hydroxylase in hepatic and extrahepatic tissues, and the increased activity of hepatic sterol 27-hydroxylase resulting from the increased synthesis is associated with a hypolipidemic effect on plasma LDL levels. Furthermore, progesterone alone increases the hepatic ACAT activity, but given in combination with estrogen progesterone does not have the same effect on hepatic ACAT activity. The effect of estrogen on hepatic ACAT activity may be mediated by sterol 27-hydroxylase and its effect on cholesterol metabolism (decreased cholesterol synthesis and increased output of cholesterol in the bile) in liver. 相似文献

The primary heat transport system of 500 MWe Indian PHWR comprises of straight pipes, elbows and headers. A study was conducted to qualify piping system for leak before break. R-6 method was used to assess integrity of system for leakage size crack (LSC), the margins on crack initiation load and unstable crack growth loads. Option 2 (material specific failure assessment diagram), Category 3 (ductile tearing) analysis was used for straight pipes, elbows and header. In order to enhance the confidence in the analytical results, detailed sensitivity analysis was also performed. For sensitivity analysis, variation in material properties, LSC was considered. The effect of variation in temperature on material properties was also considered. Tensile and fracture properties used for base and weld material data were generated from pipe material obtained from 220 MWe Nuclear Power Plant, under construction. 相似文献

The present paper attempts to evaluate the seismic fragility for a typical elevated water-retaining structure. The structure is analysed for two cases: (i) empty tank; and (ii) tank filled with water. The various parameters that could affect the seismic structural response include material strength of concrete and reinforcing steel, effective prestress available in the tank, ductility ratio and structural damping available within the structure, normalised ground motion response spectral shape, foundation and surrounding soil parameters and the total height of water available in the tank. Based on this case study, the seismic fragility of the structure is developed. The results are presented as families of conditional probability curves plotted against peak ground acceleration (PGA) at two critical locations. Contracts are complex to understand, represent and process electronically. Usually, contracts involve various entities such
as parties, activities and clauses. An e-contract is a contract modeled, specified, executed and enacted (controlled and monitored)
by a software system (such as a workflow system). Workflows are used to automate business processes that govern adherence
to the e-contracts. E-contracts can be mapped to inter-related workflows, which have to be specified carefully to satisfy
the contract requirements. Most workflow models do not have the capabilities to handle complex inter/intra relationships among
entities in e-contracts. An e-contract does not adhere to activity/task oriented workflow processes, thus generating a gap
between a conceptual model of e-contract and workflow. In this paper, we describe conceptual modeling of e-contracts and present
a business process model for e-contract enactment. The enactment of e-contracts necessitates dynamic generation and initiation
of workflows during the e-contract execution, besides the static workflows. EREC business process model facilitates an integrated approach to e-contracts enactment. Our methodology is illustrated by means
