Integration of nanowires into functional devices with high yields and good reliability turned out to be a lot more challenging and proved to be a critical issue obstructing the wide application of nanowire-based devices and exploitation of their technical promises. Here we demonstrate a relatively easy macrofabrication of a nanowire-based imaging circuitry using a recently developed nanofabrication technique. Extremely long and polymer encapsulated semiconducting nanowire arrays, mass-produced using the iterative thermal drawing, facilitate the integration process; we manually aligned the fibers containing selenium nanowires over a lithographically defined circuitry. Controlled etching of the encapsulating polymer revealed a monolayer of nanowires aligned over an area of 1 cm(2) containing a 10 × 10 pixel array. Each light-sensitive pixel is formed by the contacting hundreds of parallel photoconductive nanowires between two electrodes. Using the pixel array, alphabetic characters were identified by the circuitry to demonstrate its imaging capacity. This new approach makes it possible to devise extremely large nanowire devices on planar, flexible, or curved substrates with diverse functionalities such as thermal sensors, phase change memory, and artificial skin.  相似文献

Laminar mixed convection flow in the presence of magnetic field in a top sided lid-driven cavity heated by a corner heater was considered. The corner heater is under isothermal boundary conditions with different length in bottom and right vertical walls. Finite volume technique was used to solve governing equations. The temperature of the lid is lower than that of heater. The study is performed for different Grashof and Hartmann numbers at Re = 100. This paper focused on the investigation of surface roughness and friction properties of polyester fabrics after abrasion. Experiments were performed on polyester woven fabrics produced from the same yarns in warp and weft directions but with different constructional properties. Surface roughness parameters of amplitude, spacing and hybrid, along with static and kinetic coefficients of friction were measured before and after multiple abrasion cycles. Abrasion was used in order to change the surface characteristic (peak and valley heights and depths and their distributions) in such a way by forming ruptured fiber ends under the control of abrasion. Measurements were made along warp, weft, and diagonal directions. The results showed that roughness parameters decreased numerically as abrasion cycles increased and as ruptured fiber ends formed. Static and kinetic coefficients of friction changed in different manners when measurements were performed along warp and weft directions. It was concluded that initial and resultant peak heights and valley depths together with their distribution on fabric surface govern roughness and friction properties of surfaces in opposite ways. Roughness parameters of skewness and kurtosis could be further considered in the research of friction properties of textile surfaces.  相似文献

An extensive study was performed in finish turning of the following microalloyed steels: as received (14.3 HRc), water-cooled (44.9 HRc), air-cooled (14.41 HRc) and furnace-cooled (9.1 HRc). The turning tests were carried out using multi-layer coated cemented carbide tools at four different cutting speeds (60, 90, 120, and 150 m/min) while feedrate and depth of cut were kept constant at 0.1 mm/rev and 1 mm, respectively. The influences of workpiece microstructure and cutting speed on cutting forces and workpiece surface roughness were investigated. The worn parts of the cutting tools were also examined under a scanning electron microscope (SEM). The results showed that cutting speed significantly affected the machined surface roughness values. However, cutting forces were not influenced significantly by workpiece microstructure and cutting speed except for water cooled specimen.  相似文献

In this study, electrorheological (ER) properties of polyindole (PIN) and polyindole/poly (vinyl acetate), (PIN/PVAc) conducting composites having different compositions were investigated. Conductivities and dielectric properties of these composites were determined. The particle sizes of the composites were determined by dynamic light scattering method. Suspensions of PIN and PIN/PVAc composites were prepared in silicone oil, at several concentrations (c = 5–25%, m/m) and their sedimentation stabilities were determined. Then the effects of dispersed particle concentration, shear rate, electric field strength, frequency, and temperature onto ER activities of suspensions were investigated. The flow times of these suspensions at various dc electric field strengths were measured. Further, creep tests were applied to the composite suspensions and a reversible viscoelastic deformation was observed.  相似文献

Exploring the effects of cations in whey protein-based gels (WPG) is of importance when these gels are used for controlled release applications in food systems. The objective of this study was to evaluate both water uptake and cation release from heat-set WPGs. Magnetic Resonance Imaging and NMR relaxometry were employed to study the uptake and release. A non-paramagnetic (Ca+2) and a paramagnetic cation (Mn+2) were incorporated into the WPG as model divalent cations. Cylindrical pieces of WPGs with manganese were immersed in water (pH 2.40, 7.00, 10.40) or in EDTA solution whereas WPGs with calcium were immersed in water at pH 2.40. Water uptake by the gels was influenced by both ionic environment and pH. The release of Mn+2 from WPG was enhanced by the presence of EDTA. Relaxation spectra of Mn+2-loaded gels were significantly influenced by pH of the suspending fluid and by the presence of EDTA. Results of relaxometry experiments, obtained with Ca+2-loaded gels immersed in water at pH 2.40, indicated a strong correlation (R2 > 0.99) between relative areas of the proton pools and the amount of calcium released to the medium. Results support the use of MRI and NMR to monitor cation release and water uptake in WPG, non-destructively.  相似文献

We demonstrated two complementary size-dependent structural coloring mechanisms, interference and scattering, in indefinitely long core-shell nanowire arrays. The unusual nanostructures are comprised of an amorphous semiconducting core and a polymer shell layer with disparate refractive indices but with similar thermomechanical properties. Core-shell nanowires are mass produced from a macroscopic semiconductor rod by using a new top-to-bottom fabrication approach based on thermal size reduction. Nanostructures with diameters from 30 to 200 nm result in coloration that spans the whole visible spectrum via resonant Mie scattering. Nanoshell coloration based on thin film interference is proposed as a structural coloration mechanism which becomes dominant for nanowires having 700-1200 nm diameter. Controlled color generation in any part of visible and infrared spectral regions can be achieved by the simple scaling down procedure. Spectral color generation in mass-produced uniform core-shell nanowire arrays paves the way for applications such as spectral authentication at nanoscale, light-scattering ingredients in paints and cosmetics, large-area devices, and infrared shielding.  相似文献

Numerical analyses of fluid flow and heat transfer due to buoyancy forces in a tube inserted square cavity filled with fluid were carried out by using control volume method in this study. The cavity was heated from the left wall and cooled from the right isothermally and horizontal walls were adiabatic. A circular tube filled with air was inserted into the square cavity. The case that the inside and outside of the tube were filled with the same fluid (air) was examined. Varied solid materials were chosen as the tube wall. Results were obtained for different Rayleigh numbers (Ra = 104, 105 and 106), thermal conductivity ratio of the fluid to the tube wall (k = 0.1, 1 and 10) and different location centers of the tube (c (0.25 ≤ x ≤ 0.75, 0.25 ≤ y ≤ 0.75)). Comparison with benchmark solutions of the natural convection in a cavity was performed and numerical results gave an acceptable agreement. It was found that varied location of the tube center can lead to different flow fields and heat transfer intensities which are also affected by the value of Rayleigh number.  相似文献

A series of composites of polyindole (PIN) and poly(dimethylsiloxane) (PDMS) were synthesized chemically using FeCl3 as an oxidant agent in anhydrous media. The composites were characterized by FTIR and UV‐visible spectroscopies, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X‐ray diffraction (XRD), elemental analysis, inductively coupled plasma‐optic emission spectroscopy (ICP‐OES), magnetic susceptibility, stress–strain experiments, and conductivity measurements. The conductivities of PIN at different temperatures were also measured and it was revealed that their conductivities were slightly increased with increasing temperature. Moreover, the freestanding films of PDMS/PIN composites were prepared by casting on glass Petri dishes to examine their stress–strain properties. From thermogravimetric analysis results it was found that PDMS/PIN composites were thermally more stable than PIN. Thermal stabilities of PDMS/PIN composites increased with increasing PIN content. It was found that the conductivities of PDMS/PIN composites depend on the indole content in the composites. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Appl Polym Sci, 2011  相似文献
