The microstructure of a commercial cubic boron nitride compact, with aluminium nitride and aluminium diboride binder phases, has been characterized by transmission electron micro-scopy. Within individual grains significant plastic deformation is observed in the form of dis-locations and microtvvin lamellae. There is no evidence of recrystallization. Grains have been forced into direct contact, but there is no evidence of new growth of cubic boron nitride between the grains. Some grains have obviously broken or shattered during manufacture. Aluminium nitride is present mostly as an oriented rind around the cubic boron nitride grains where they are not in direct contact, while aluminium diboride forms a largely continuous network in the channels between them. Our observations suggest that the two aluminium compounds are responsible for most of the bonding in the compact. The orientation relation-ships between the cubic boron nitride and As aluminium nitride rind are, on (1 1 1) facets of BN, BN(1 1 1) AIN(0 0 0 1) and BN[1 1 0] AIN[1 1 – 0], and on (0 0 1) facets of BN, BN(0 0 1) AIN(0 0 0 1) and BN[1 1 0] AIN[l 1 ¨ 0]. The aluminium diboride is mostly unoriented. The results are discussed in the context of previous work on diamond-based compact materials.  相似文献

The success of hydraulic simulation models of water distribution networks is associated with the ability of these models to represent real systems accurately. To achieve this, the calibration phase is essential. Current calibration methods are based on minimizing the error between measured and simulated values of pressure and flow. This minimization is based on a search of parameter values to be calibrated, including pipe roughness, nodal demand, and leakage flow. The resulting hydraulic problem contains several variables. In addition, a limited set of known monitored pressure and flow values creates an indeterminate problem with more variables than equations. Seeking to address the lack of monitored data for the calibration of Water Distribution Networks (WDNs), this paper uses a meta-model based on an Artificial Neural Network (ANN) to estimate pressure on all nodes of a network. The calibration of pipe roughness applies a metaheuristic search method called Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) to minimize the objective function represented by the difference between simulated and forecasted pressure values. The proposed method is evaluated at steady state and over an extended period for a real District Metering Area (DMA), named Campos do Conde II, and the hypothetical network named C-town, which is used as a benchmark for calibration studies.  相似文献

Fatigue crack propagation (FCP) tests were conducted at various frequencies on nylon-6,6 specimens equilibrated over a range of moisture levels to determine the crack growth rates and the crack-tip temperatures as a function of water content. Frequency-sensitivity was correlated with the amount of crack-tip heating taking place, with crack-tip temperature being found to depend strongly on the estimated loss compliance, D″, of the material. The frequency-sensitivity of FCP in nylon was seen also to be affected by mean stress, suggesting that creep processes are often significant in FCP of nylon.  相似文献
