Starting from energy balance considerations, the time dependence of the induced charge in closed ended HPGe gamma detectors is numerically determined as a function of detectors geometry, applied voltage and coordinates of created e-h pairs. A general, physico-chemical analysis of mass transfer rate promotion in the system CO2-potassium carbonate-water-promoter is presented. Different possible mechanisms of promoter action including homogeneous catalysis, “shuttle” mechanism and surface reactions are discussed and classified. A unified picture of promoter chemistry is presented, showing that differences between inorganic and organic promoters are predominently quantitative, not qualitative.The “shuttle” mechanism is analyzed for absorption. The analysis leads to the prediction that the CO2 mass transfer rate may be influenced by the liquid hold up. This is related to the fact that, although the reaction in the interface region may be fast enough to enhance the mass transfer rate, the different reaction in the bulk may not be fast enough to maintain chemical equlibrium. This complex type of chemical absorption process has not been considered previously in the literature.  相似文献

The general problem of gas absorption and desorption accompanied by an instantaneous, reversible chemical reaction is approached from the viewpoint that chemical equilibrium prevails everywhere in the liquid phase. The approach allows absorption and desorption to be analysed along the same lines. A complete analytical solution is given for the film theory model and the penetration theory equations are set up in general form.The equations for the enhancement factor reduce to the classical “irreversible” result for absoption when the driving force, φ, becomes very large, rather than in the limit of very large equilibrium constant as the word irreversible seems to suggest. The corresponding asymptote for desorption is obtained by setting φ = 0. A third asymptotic region, in which φ is in the neighborhood of unity, is established for both absorption and desorption. Physically this is the region where driving forces are very small, which from an industrial viewpoint is what happens in absorption and desorption units near pinches.The asymptotic analysis for the pinch region is applied to hydrogen sulfide absorption and desorption from aqueous diisopropanolamine solution. For this system use of the “irreversible” equations grossly overestimates the enhancement factor. Gas-phase controls mass transfer at the lean end of the absorber but at the other terminal locations of the towers the liquid-phase resistance cannot be neglected.  相似文献

A simulated gastrointestinal digestion has been carried out on purified peach lipid transfer protein, one of the main allergens among the population of the Mediterranean area and the major allergen of peach allergic patients. The percentage of intact protein, after extensive digestion, measured by comparison with a non‐digestible peptide analogue used as internal standard, was found to be about one‐third of the original protein content. The peptides formed in digested fraction were characterized by means of LC/MS. The products of the digestion essentially derived from trypsin action, whereas the protein appeared to be resistant to pepsin and chymotrypsin. The identified peptides could be classified as low molecular weight and high molecular weight peptides. The latter consisted of the full protein, with the disulfide bridges still intact, deprived of the smaller peptides. The different digestion products, including the high and low molecular weight peptides, were purified by LC and assessed, together with the intact protein, by dot‐blot analysis with sera of allergic patients, allowing to estimate their potential allergenicity. The intact protein and the high molecular weight peptides were found to be recognized by patients' sera, whereas the small peptides were found to be not reactive.  相似文献

The preparation of new rubber based nanocomposites by using properly modified organophilic clays is described. A commercial organophilic montmorillonite containing a hydroxylated ammonium ion is reacted with LPBs. The reaction causes a decrease of the polarity of the clay and a great increase of the interlayer distance. The modified organoclays are successfully dispersed into rubber matrices (SBR or BR) by melt blending in an internal batch mixer. SAXS analyses and TEM micrographs revealed the formation of highly exfoliated nanocomposites containing intercalated stacks made of few lamellae.

Nickel Sulfide (NiS) inclusions can provoke the rupture of thermally treated glass due to a phase transformation with volume increase that stresses the surrounding glass. Starting from a Pareto statistics for the population of inclusion sizes, from an assumed kinetics of the phase transformation, a micro-mechanically motivated model provides the statistical characterization of the probability of spontaneous failure of glass during lifetime. A distinction based upon the composition of NiS is used to discuss the effects of the heat soak test (HST), where glass remains at high temperature for a certain time to speed-up the phase transformation and destroy those elements with critical inclusions. Three functions à la Weibull for the probability of spontaneous rupture during lifetime are theoretically derived for the case of no HST, short HST, and long HST. In particular, the probability of collapse for long HSTs depends upon the holding time in the oven. An explanatory example shows the potentiality of the model for optimizing the HST parameters toward a target probability of failure, but experimental campaigns are needed for a proper calibration.  相似文献

The immunological mechanisms that modulate immune response to SARS-CoV-2 infection remain elusive. Little is known on the magnitude and the durability of antibody response against COVID-19. There is consensus that patients with immune dysfunction, such as dialysis patients, may be unable to mount a robust and durable humoral immunity after infections. Recent studies showed that dialysis patients seroconverted after COVID-19, but data on the durability of the immune response are missing. We reported the data of a durable anti-spike protein seroconversion after natural SARS-CoV-2 infection in three patients on hemodialysis with a mean age of 67.2 ± 13.8 years. A mean antibody titer of 212.6 ± 174.9 UA/ml (Liaison®, DiaSorin) was found after one year (range, 366–374 days) from the diagnosis of COVID-19. In conclusion, this case series provided evidence that patients receiving hemodialysis who recovered from severe COVID-19 were able to mount a long-lasting immune response against SARS-CoV-2. Although the protective capacity of this long-term immunity remains to be determined, these patients did not report signs of reinfection after recovery from COVID-19.  相似文献

Hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC) is a biocompatible cellulose derivative capable of self‐assembling into a lyotropic chiral nematic phase in aqueous solution. This liquid crystalline phase reflects right‐handed circular polarized light of a specific color as a function of the HPC weight fraction. Here, it is demonstrated that, by introducing a crosslinking agent, it is possible to drastically alter the visual appearance of the HPC mesophase in terms of the reflected color, the scattering distribution, and the polarization response, resulting in an exceptional matte appearance in solid‐state films. By exploiting the interplay between order and disorder, a robust and simple methodology toward the preparation of polarization and angular independent color is developed, which constitutes an important step toward the development of real‐world photonic colorants.  相似文献

Summary: A fluorine containing hyperbranched polymer was synthesized by modifying an aromatic‐aliphatic hyperbranched polyester with a semifluorinated alcohol via a Mitsunobu reaction and was subsequently used as an additive in cationic photopolymerization of an epoxy resin. The remaining OH groups of the fluorinated hyperbranched polymer interact with the polymeric carbocation through a chain‐transfer mechanism inducing an increase in the final epoxy conversion. The fluorinated HBP induces modification of bulk and surface properties, with an increase in Tg and surface hydrophobicity already reached at very low concentration. The HBFP additive can, therefore, protect the coatings from aggressive solvents, increases hardness, and allows the preparation of a low energy surface coating.
