Due to its high hydrogen density and extensive experience base, ammonia (NH3) has been gaining special attention as a potential green energy carrier. This study focuses on premixed ammonia–hydrogen–air flames under standard temperature and pressure conditions using an inert silicon-carbide (SiC) porous block as a practical and effective medium for flame stabilization. Combustion experiments conducted using a lab scale burner resulted in stable combustion and high combustion efficiencies at very high ammonia concentration levels over a wide range of equivalence ratios. Noticeable power output densities have also been achieved. Preliminary results of NOx emission measurements indicate NOx concentrations as low as 35 ppm under rich conditions. The remarkable capability of this specific burner to operate efficiently and cleanly at high ammonia concentration levels, which can easily be achieved by partial cracking of NH3, is believed to be a key accomplishment in the development of ammonia fired power generation systems.  相似文献

This paper presents a phenomenological model for the simulation and analysis of stress‐induced orientational hardening in semicrystalline polymers and polycarbonates at finite strains. The notion of intermediate (local) stress‐free configuration is used to develop a set of constitutive equations, and its relation to the multiple natural (stress‐free) configurations in the class of materials being considered here is discussed. A hyperelastic stored energy function, written with respect to the intermediate stress‐free configuration is presented to model the finite elastic response. It is then combined with the J2‐flow theory to model the finite inelastic response. The isochoric constraint during inelastic deformation is treated via an exact multiplicative decomposition of the deformation gradient into volume‐preserving and spherical parts. The numerical solution algorithm is based on the use of operator splitting technique that results in a product formula algorithm with elastic‐predictor/inelastic‐corrector components. Gas fluidization is generally associated with the formation of bubbles that critically influence the performance of fluidized bed processes (FBPs). Therefore, in the design, simulation and operation of FBPs, it is very essential to know the behaviour of the bubbles at the free surface. The size and growth of bubbles play an important role for determining properties such as bed expansion, solids entraiment, in-bed heat transfer and solid mixing. This paper presents a study on the behaviour of bubbles at the free surface of a large three dimensional gas-fluidized bed with square section of 61×61 cm2. Measurements were carried out to determine the effects of bed height and excess air velocity on the bubble eruption diameter, frequency and bubble fraction. All experiments were performed at freely bubbling mode and the flow characteristics of bubbles were recorded by a video camera. Bed materials used were 593 μm raw perlite and 1233 μm sand falling within the categories of Geldarts Groups B and D, respectively. The fixed bed height ranged from about 8–18 cm for raw perlite and 9–26 cm for sand. The excess air velocity was varied between 0·5 and 1·75 cm s−1 for raw perlite and 13 and 25 cm s−1 for sand. Equations related to the bubble count, frequency, flow area shape factor and through-flow coefficient were given using a modified form of two-phase theory of fluidisation. Observations were made to validate the two-phase theory for two different particles. The flow area shape factor was in the range of 0·47–0·81 for raw perlite and 0·20 to 0·57 for sand, with mean values of 0·6 and 0·4, respectively. The through-flow coefficient was found to be between −0·68 and 2·82 for raw perlite and between 3·27 to 15·87 for sand, and was larger than predicted values of classical bubble models. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The objectives of this study were to determine the chemical and ruminal nutrient degradability characteristics of two hulled (Calibre and AC Mustang) and one hull-less (AC Belmont) oat varieties. Ruminal nutrient degradability characteristics of the oat varieties were determined relative to barley using one ruminally fistulated cow. Neutral (NDF) and acid (ADF) detergent fibre levels were higher (P < 0·05) in hulled than hull-less oats. Hulled AC Mustang had higher (P < 0·05) NDF and ADF content than hulled Calibre. Starch content was higher (P < 0·05) in AC Belmont (590 g kg−1) than Calibre (457 g kg−1) and was higher in Calibre than AC Mustang (415 g kg−1). Crude protein was higher (P < 0·05) in hull-less than hulled oat. Both hulled varieties had similar CP content (average 124 g kg−1). Estimated digestible energy value was highest (P < 0·05) for AC Belmont (16·94 MJ kg−1), intermediate for Calibre (14·18 MJ kg−1) and lowest for AC Mustang (13·34 MJ kg−1). Ruminal dry matter and NDF degradability were higher (P < 0·05) in hull-less than barley and was higher in barley than hulled oats. Ruminal starch degradability exceeded 900 g kg−1 for all tested feeds and had the order AC Belmont = barley > Calibre = AC Mustang. It was concluded that oat varieties used in this study varied considerably in their chemical composition and ruminal degradability. When compared with barley, hulled oats had lower while hull-less oats had higher ruminal degradability. © 1998 SCI.  相似文献

The present study deals with the investigation of photocatalytic degradation and mineralization of C.I. Basic Red 46 (BR46) and C.I. Basic Yellow 28 (BY28) dyes in single and binary solutions as a function of periodate ion concentration (IO(4)(-)), irradiation time, initial pH and initial dye concentrations. First order derivative spectrophotometric method was used for to simultaneous analysis of BY28 and BR46 in binary mixtures. Langmuir-Hinshelwood kinetic model was applied to experimental data and apparent reaction rate constant values were calculated. The apparent degradation rate constant values of BR46 were higher than those of BY28 for all experiments in single dye solutions. On the other hand, the significant reductions were observed for the apparent degradation rate constant values of the BR46 in the presence of BY28 in binary solutions whereas TOC removal efficiency slightly enhanced in binary system. The highest TOC removal efficiency was obtained at pH 3.0 by adding 5mM periodate ion in to the solution in the presence of 1g/L TiO(2) for both dye solutions. After 3h illumination, 68, 76 and 75% mineralization were found for 100mg/L BY28, 100mg/L BR46 and 50+50mg/L mixed solutions, respectively.  相似文献

In this study, olive leaves were dried in a pilot‐scale heat pump (HP) belt conveyor dryer as a thin layer. Drying experiments were carried out at the drying air temperature range of 45–55°C with the drying air velocity range of 0.5–1.5 m s−1. The performance of the system and the process was evaluated using exergy analysis method. The exergy loss and flow diagram (the so‐called Grassmann diagram) of the dryer system was presented to give quantitative information regarding the proportion of the exergy input that is dissipated in the various system components. Effects of the drying air temperature and the velocity on the performance of the drying process were discussed. The actual coefficient of performance values were obtained to be 2.37 for the HP unit and 2.31 for the overall system, respectively. The most important component of the system for improving the efficiency was determined to be the compressor. Exergetic efficiencies of the drying of olive leaves were in the range of 67.45–81.95%. A nonlinear optimization algorithm based on the Nelder Mead method is used to characterize the frequency dependent permittivity of 15 materials based on Lorentz, modified Lorentz, Drude and Lorentz-Drude models. The optimized model parameters are used to calculate the complex relative permittivity of each material and compare it with experimental data. In each case, a very good match is found between the optimized and experimental data over a long wavelength range. Comparative study of the models used for each material is performed based on accuracy, wavelength range of applicability and computational efficiency. The parameters presented can be used for computer simulation of electromagnetic wave phenomena involving these materials.  相似文献
