In this letter we solve the transmit antenna selection problem for a zero forcing spatial multiplexing system with knowledge of the channel statistics at the transmitter. We show through Wishart matrix analysis that the signal-to-noise ratio on the kth stream is a weighted Chi-squared variable with the weight equal to-the kth diagonal entry of the inverted transmit correlation matrix. We use this result to develop selection algorithms for two cases-maximizing ergodic capacity and minimizing the average probability of error. Monte Carlo simulations illustrate potential performance improvements.  相似文献

The growth and use of semantic web has led to a drastic increase in the size, heterogeneity and number of ontologies that are available on the web. Correspondingly, scalable ontology matching algorithms that will eliminate the heterogeneity among large ontologies have become a necessity. Ontology matching algorithms generally do not scale well due to the massive number of complex computations required to achieve matching. One of the methods used to address this problem is the use of partition-based systems to reduce the matching space. In this paper, we propose a new partitioning-based scalable ontology matching system called PSOM2. We have designed a new neighbour-based intra-similarity measure to increase the quality of the cluster set formation for the partition-based ontology matching process. These sets of clusters or sub-ontologies are matched across the input ontologies to identify matchable cluster pairs, based on anchors that are efficiently discovered through a new light-weight linguistic matcher (EI-sub). However, in order to further increase the efficiency of the time-consuming anchor discovery process we have designed a MapReduce-based EI-sub process where anchors are discovered in distributed and parallel fashion. Experiments on benchmark OAEI (Ontology Alignment Evaluation Initiative) large scale ontologies demonstrate that the new PSOM2 system achieves, on an average, 31% decrease in entropy of the clusters and 54.5% reduction in overall run time. Based on the experimental results, it is evident that the new PSOM2 achieves better quality clusters and a major reduction in execution time, leading to an effective and scalable ontology matching system.  相似文献

Two classes of algorithms for multichannel blind equalization are the mutually referenced equalizer (MRE) method by Gesbert et al. (see ibid. vol.45, p.2307-17, 1997) and the subspace intersection (SSI) method by van der Veen et al. (see ibid., vol. 45, no.1, p.173-90, 1997). Riveted lap joints are being used widely in civil aircraft structures. Conventional design procedures assume that the joint can be designed as if all rivets carry load equally. As found in literature associated with fatigue and fracture, forensic studies on structural failures, this assumption is not entirely valid. In this paper, the regulatory codes for civil aircraft as applicable to riveted joints in the form of FAR 25 regulations are briefly reviewed. The regulatory code discusses safety factors in an implied way, but has little specific recommendations for riveted joints. However, studies on the failures of specific aircraft illustrated in this paper add to the argument that both static strength and life are affected by the initial design procedures for the riveted joints. In this paper, finite element models for metal–metal, composite–metal, composite–composite lap joints are studied. A three row lap joint used in commercial aircraft and which was part of failure studies is also examined. Unequal rivet loads and in cases, nearly 50% more than conventional design has been seen in linear finite element analysis. Elasto-plastic analysis using rivet flexibility shows re-distribution of loads. Based on these observations, the effect of rivet loads on life estimation including the use of concepts such as by-pass stresses is discussed. These results have implications for static strength at ultimate load, damage tolerance and fail safety and are discussed in this paper. Next, in a composite–composite lap joint, the influence of ply-angle on the rivet loads is studied. Also, a composite–metal lap joint is studied for the rivet load distribution and life estimation. It is found that the load shared by the rivet rows in a composite–metal lap joint are not symmetric and therefore are more susceptible to cracking and subsequent failure as the unequal distribution can cause some of the rivet loads to be high. In conclusion, the issue of fail safe and damage tolerant design of civil aircraft structures with riveted joints are addressed, especially the implication of unequal load distribution on the failures of such joints and it is suggested that these unequal rivet load distributions be catered for at the early design stage itself via finite element analysis and the possibility of an over-arching safety factor could be considered that incorporates both ultimate load and damage tolerance conditions.  相似文献

We consider Gaussian multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) frequency-selective spatially correlated fading channels, assuming that the channel is unknown at the transmitter and perfectly known at the receiver. For Gaussian codebooks, using results from multivariate statistics, we derive an analytical expression for a tight lower bound on the ergodic capacity of such channels at any signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). We show that our bound is tighter than previously reported analytical lower bounds, and we proceed to analytically quantify the impact of spatial fading correlation on ergodic capacity. Based on a closed-form approximation of the variance of mutual information in correlated flat-fading MIMO channels, we provide insights into the multiplexing-diversity tradeoff for Gaussian code books. Furthermore, for a given total number of antennas, we consider the problem of finding the optimal (ergodic capacity maximizing) number of transmit and receive antennas, and we reveal the SNR-dependent nature of the maximization strategy. Finally, we present numerical results and comparisons between our capacity bounds and previously reported bounds.  相似文献

We design an optimal linear precoder for a space-time coded system assuming knowledge of only the transmit antenna fading correlations. Assuming a flat fading channel and a maximum-likelihood receiver, we show that the linear precoder transmits power on the eigenmodes of the transmit antenna correlation matrix. The power allocation on the eigenmodes is a form of waterpouring policy. Simulation results are presented to show performance improvement on a space-time coded system  相似文献

Recent studies of wafer temperature control in rapid thermal processing systems have indicated that a multiring circularly symmetric lamp configuration with independent (multivariable) control of the power applied to each ring is likely to be more successful than the earlier lamp design approaches. An important issue in such multiring lamp systems is the optimal shaping of the output heat flux profile (HFP) of each ring to provide maximum controllability of the wafer temperature. In this paper we seek to optimize the ring HFP's via the lamp design parameters: ring positions and widths. We start by determining the heat loss profiles over the wafer surface for a variety of temperature setpoints and processing conditions. In order to maintain temperature uniformity across the wafer at a given setpoint, the lamp system should provide a compensating HFP. The total lamp HFP is the sum of the individual ring HFPs weighted by their respective applied powers. The HFP's are, in turn, functionally dependent on the lamp design parameters and this dependence can be measured through a calibration process. Therefore, the resulting optimization problem reduces to determining the lamp design parameters that result in lamp HFP's which best approximates the collection of the wafer heat loss profiles. We propose a maximum-likelihood (ML) approach for separating and estimating multiple synchronous digital signals arriving at an antenna array at a cell site. The spatial response of the array is assumed to be known imprecisely or unknown. We exploit the finite alphabet property of digital signals to simultaneously estimate the array response and the symbol sequence for each signal. Uniqueness of the estimates is established for BPSK signals. We introduce a signal detection technique based on the finite alphabet property that is different from a standard linear combiner. Computationally efficient algorithms for both block and recursive estimation of the signals are presented. This new approach is applicable to an unknown array geometry and propagation environment, which is particularly useful In wireless communication systems.
