Both continuous and discrete time transfer functions of non-linear systems are analysed and interpreted in the frequency domain by investigating the properties and graphical representation of these functions. The contributions that some typical terms from non-linear time domain models make to the transfer functions is illustrated to provide a better understanding of the frequency response behaviour of complex non-linear dynamic systems.  相似文献

The Volterra series approach has been widely used for the analysis of nonlinear systems. Based on the Volterra series, a novel concept named nonlinear output frequency-response functions (NOFRFs) was proposed by the authors. This concept can be considered as an alternative extension of the classical frequency-response function for linear systems to the nonlinear case. In this study, based on the NOFRFs, a novel algorithm is developed to estimate the linear stiffness and damping parameters of multi-degree-of-freedom (MDOF) nonlinear systems. The validity of this NOFRF-based parameter estimation algorithm is demonstrated by numerical studies.  相似文献

In this paper, the new concept of nonlinear output frequency response functions (NOFRFs) is extended to the harmonic input case, an input-independent relationship is found between the NOFRFs and the generalized frequency response functions (GFRFs). This relationship can greatly simplify the application of the NOFRFs. Then, beginning with the demonstration that a bilinear oscillator can be approximated using a polynomial-type nonlinear oscillator, the NOFRFs are used to analyse the energy transfer phenomenon of bilinear oscillators in the frequency domain. The analysis provides insight into how new frequency generation can occur using bilinear oscillators and how the sub-resonances occur for the bilinear oscillators, and reveals that it is the resonant frequencies of the NOFRFs that dominate the occurrence of this well-known nonlinear behaviour. The results are of significance for the design and fault diagnosis of mechanical systems and structures which can be described by a bilinear oscillator model.  相似文献

This paper introduces a novel approach to the identification of Coupled Map Lattice (CML) models of linear and nonlinear infinite-dimensional systems from discrete observations. The method exploits the regularity of the CML model so that only a finite number of spatial measurements are required. The measurement system associated with a CML is discussed and some necessary conditions for the input/output equations to form a CML are presented. Whole human saliva contains a number of proteolytic enzymes, mostly derived from white blood cells and bacteria in the oral cavity. However, less information is available regarding proteases produced by salivary glands and present in salivary secretions. In the present study, we have analyzed submandibular saliva, collected without contaminating cells, and identified multiple proteolytic activities. These have been characterized in terms of their susceptibility to a series of protease inhibitors. The submandibular saliva proteases were shown to be sensitive to both serine and acidic protease inhibitors. We also used protease inhibitors to determine if salivary proteolytic activity was involved in the inhibition of HIV infectivity seen when the virus is incubated with human saliva. This anti-HIV activity has been reported to occur in whole saliva and in ductal saliva obtained from both the parotid and submandibular glands, with highest levels of activity present in the latter fluid. Protease inhibitors, at concentrations sufficient to block salivary proteolytic activity in an in vitro infectivity assay, did not block the anti-HIV effects of saliva, suggesting that the salivary proteases are not responsible for the inhibition of HIV-1 infectivity.  相似文献

Previous studies have shown that administration of gamma-hydroxybutyric acid (GHBA) or the GABA(B) receptor agonist baclofen are associated with a decrease in firing rate, a regularisation of firing pattern and a decrease in burst activity of midbrain dopamine (DA) neurons in the substantia nigra (SN). In the present study we compared the ability of the novel GABA(B) receptor antagonist SCH 50911 and the selective antagonist of GHBA binding sites, NCS-382, to antagonise the effects of baclofen or GHBA, respectively, on the neuronal activity of DA neurons in anaesthetised rats. SCH 50911 (75 mg/kg, i.v.) was found to antagonise the decrease in firing rate, the regularisation of firing rhythm and the decrease of burst activity in DA cells, induced by baclofen (1-32 mg/kg, i.v.) or GHBA (12.5-1600 mg/kg, i.v.). NCS-382 (100 mg/kg, i.v.) did not affect the baclofen-induced changes in neuronal activity. Neither was the drug able to influence the GHBA-induced alterations in firing rate or in burst activity, although NCS-382 to some extent antagonised the regularisation of the firing pattern observed following low doses of GHBA (< or =100 mg/kg). The results of the present study give further support for the notion that the GHBA-induced changes in neuronal activity of nigral dopamine neurons are mediated by stimulation of GABA(B) receptors.  相似文献

AIM: Recognition of heart failure may be difficult in patients presenting with acute dyspnoea, particularly in the presence of chronic airways obstruction or obesity. In a previous study of patients with acute dyspnoea, we showed that the measurement of plasma brain natriuretic peptide (BNP)-a hormone secreted in increased amounts by the failing heart-accurately distinguishes heart failure from primary lung disorder. The aim of the present study was to develop a rapid assay for BNP and evaluate its diagnostic use in patients acutely hospitalised for increasing dyspnoea of any cause. METHODS: A rapid assay for plasma BNP, providing results within 24 h of blood collection, was developed without loss of precision. The results of the rapid and previously established BNP assays were highly correlated (r = 0.9). To determine the diagnostic value of the rapid assay, measurements were undertaken on the day of admission in 123 breathless patients (mean age 68.3, range 23 to 90 years) and related to conventional diagnostic assessments and final outcome. RESULTS: In patients diagnosed and treated urgently for clinical heart failure, plasma BNP was significantly higher (115 (SE 13) pmol/L, n = 39) than in those without clinical heart failure (33 (5) pmol/L, n = 84, p < 0.001). Using a cut-off of 50 pmol/L for the presence of heart failure, there was discordance between BNP level and clinical diagnosis in 21 of 123 cases. Reassessment after independent analysis of discordant cases increased the difference in BNP level in the presence (123 (13) pmol/L, n = 43) or absence (24 (1.5) pmol/L, n = 80) of heart failure. Using two way analysis of variance, no further improvement in discrimination was found when chest radiographs were used together with the BNP data. CONCLUSION: Rapid BNP assays are practicable and provide accurate information on cardiac status-superior to chest radiographs in many cases-early in the course of the patient's presentation with acute dyspnoea.  相似文献

Triclosan (Irgasan) is a broad spectrum antimicrobial agent used in handsoaps, toothpastes, fabrics, and plastics. It inhibits lipid biosynthesis in Escherichia coli, probably by action upon enoyl reductase (FabI) (McMurry, L.M., Oethinger, M. and Levy, S.B. (1988) Nature 394, 531-532). We report here that overexpression of the multidrug efflux pump locus acrAB, or of marA or soxS, both encoding positive regulators of acrAB, decreased susceptibility to triclosan 2-fold. Deletion of the acrAB locus increased the susceptibility to triclosan approximately 10-fold. Four of five clinical E. coli strains which overexpressed marA or soxS also showed enhanced triclosan resistance. The acrAB locus was involved in the effects of triclosan upon both cell growth rate and cell lysis.  相似文献
