The aim of this work was to assess the monitor unit calculation accuracy of a new 3D computer planning system in a volume containing significant lung heterogeneity. An anthropomorphic phantom drilled to accommodate a cylindrical ionisation chamber was used for measurements. Results were also compared to an older 2D system and a manual calculation method. Only a slight improvement was achieved with the new system and an energy dependence was evident. This type of test is recommended before implementing a new 3D planning system.  相似文献

A comparative investigation on the possibility of hydroxyapatite (HA) coating and pure Ti column to form biological sealing with skin tissue was completed in this study. HA coating and pure Ti column were percutaneously implanted in the tibia of rabbits. Compared with titanium (Ti) implant, HA coating forms epithelial sealing with skin tissue at 6 weeks postoperatively, while the Ti implant may loosen from the implanted site and be lost. The Ti column loosing rate at this time was 50%. However, once the Ti implant becomes fixed with the bone tissue, it can form epithelial sealing with skin tissue just like the HA coating, at 8 weeks postoperatively. At 8 weeks postoperatively, the epithelial sealing is not destroyed in spite of the fact that the HA coating is biodegraded. Our results show that the HA coating can become fixed with the bone faster than the Ti, which is beneficial for epithelial sealing formation. The main role of HA coating for epithelial sealing is beneficial for sealing at the initial period after it is implanted.  相似文献

Heterotopic hepatocyte transplantation (HcTx) in polymeric matrices may become an alternative to liver transplantation for metabolic disorders. Hepatotrophic stimulation by means of a portocaval shunt operation is an established, but invasive, procedure used to optimize hepatocyte engraftment in matrices. We evaluated hepatocyte and pancreatic islet cotransplantation (ICT) as an alternative noninvasive approach to hepatotrophic stimulation. Lewis rats served as donors and recipients. Hepatocytes and islets were isolated using collagenase digestion and seeded into polyvinylalcohol matrices. HcTx and ICT were compared with HcTx plus portocaval shunt and HcTx without stimulation. Matrices were investigated at 1, 3, and 6 months after implantation: the test methods applied were trichrome staining, PAS, immunohistochemistry for insulin, glucagon and incorporated BrdU, and in situ hybridization for albumin RNA. Hepatocytes expressed albumin RNA and formed conglomerates without atypias in all animals. ICT and portocaval shunting increased the number of hepatocytes and BrdU uptake. Alpha cells migrated into the islet-surrounding hepatocytes, whereas beta cells remained immobile. It is concluded that ICT and portocaval shunting supported engraftment of hepatocytes in polymeric matrices equally well. ICT did not interfere with recipient glucose metabolism and did not induce hyperproliferative premalignant foci within the transplanted hepatocytes. Tumor necrosis factor receptor (TNFR) superfamily members can induce a context-dependent apoptosis or cell activation. However, the mechanisms by which these opposing programs are selected remain unclear. We show that in T cells, TNFR2 (TNFRSF1B) signaling is dramatically affected by the intracellular mediator RIP, a protein Ser/Thr kinase required for NF-kappaB activation by TNFR1 (TNFRSF1A). In the presence of RIP, TNFR2 triggers cell death, whereas in the absence of RIP, TNFR2 activates NF-kappaB. RIP is induced during IL2-driven T cell proliferation, and its inhibition reduces susceptibility to TNF-dependent apoptosis. Evidence that signaling outputs are shaped by intracellular constraints helps reconcile conflicting views of TNFR1 and TNFR2 as apoptotic mediators.  相似文献

A nerve growth factor (NGF) was isolated from the venom of Chinese cobra (Naja naja atra) by ion exchange chromatography, gel filtration and fast protein liquid chromatography (FPLC). The N-terminal sequence of 22 amino acid residues was identical with other NGFs previously purified from the venom of the same genus. The NGF monomer molecular weight was estimated to be 13,500 by reducing SDS-PAGE and the isoelectric point was determined to be 7.2 by isoelectric focusing electrophoresis. NGF improved the epididymal sperm motility of male rats and increased the pregnancy rate and fetus number of mated female rats. The serum levels of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) of male rats administrated NGF + gossypol was lower than that of male rats administrated gossypol. Histological sections of testes and epididymides showed that NGF reduced the destructive effects of gossypol on rat testes.  相似文献

In the nervous system, several classes of cell-surface and extracellular matrix molecules have been implicated in processes such as neural growth, fasciculation, pathfinding, target recognition and synaptogenesis, which require cell-to-cell or cell-to-substrate binding. In the developing mouse cochlea, little is known about the types of cell-surface and extracellular matrix molecules existing along the neural growth paths or their possible roles in development. Whole mount and sectioned cochlear tissue were immunolabeled for six different adhesive molecules - neural cell adhesion molecule (NCAM), polysialic acid (PSA), neural cell adhesion molecule L1, E-cadherin, syndecan-1 and tenascin-C. A temporospatial map of adhesive molecule distribution in the basal turns of the mouse cochlea was generated. Distributions of adhesive molecules were compared to each other and to the known progress of neural development in the region. This comparison demonstrated differences in the complements of adhesive molecules between the inner and outer hair cell regions, and variations in the expressions of adhesion molecules among different types of nerve fibers. In addition, developmental changes in the adhesive environment around and beneath the outer hair cells coincided with the known timing of the appearance of morphologically defined efferent synapses. These observations raise the possibility that molecular differences at the cell surface of inner and outer hair cells are one way that ingrowing neurites distinguish different environments to determine their growth routes and synaptic partners in the cochlea. In addition these observations demonstrate the potential for differential signaling of afferent and efferent innervation by altering the microenvironments in which synapses are formed.  相似文献
